quote:Two main weather events will dominate Europe through Saturday. The first is a slow-moving storm system that will bring locally heavy rainfall and the threat of flooding to eastern Europe.
The storm moved across central Europe on Tuesday, causing showers across France, Belgium and Germany. Heavier rain and thunderstorms occurred from Italy into the Balkan Peninsula.
As the storm shifts into eastern Europe, it will stall leading to days of moderate to heavy rainfall across a large portion of the region.
On Wednesday, the heaviest rain will be focused from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Romania and Bulgaria.
Thursday will feature the heaviest rainfall targeting areas from northern Croatia through Hungary, Slovakia and southeast Poland.
The storm will remain stalled over eastern Europe on Friday and Saturday leading to widespread rainfall with locally heavy downpours across all of the region.
Total rainfall through Saturday will average 25-75 mm (1-3 inches) across the region with local amounts near 125 mm (5 inches).
Such a widespread area of heavy rain over several days will lead to swollen rivers and the threat of flooding.
