Ik had het al gevonden, heb zelfs het verdrag zitten lezen .
Maar serieus, dat ding is zelfs al eens verplaatst (met behoud van rechten). Is toch duidelijk dat het om (privaatrechtelijk) eigendom gaat? Om verkrijgt men op magische wijze soevereiniteit over een onafgebakend stuk grond omdat de gebouwtjes daarop staan? Of ligt er nu een stukje Turks grondgebied op de bodem van een Syrisch stuwmeer ?

Het gaat trouwens om een gebied van 8000 m2 en is op 25/30 km van de grens af. Zal vast wel een of andere QRF klaar staan.

Maar even serieuzer; de laatste tijd hoor je niks omtrent Turkije (ook door interne issues) maar wel opvallend dat het zo speelt na het bezoek aan Iran.

Ik denk dat ik gelijk krijg en dat ze een of andere deal hebben afgesloten met elkaar.

De radicale rebellenbeweging ISIS heeft zich teruggetrokken uit twee westelijke provincies in Syrië. De ISIS-strijders raakten omstreden omdat ze de afgelopen maanden geregeld felle strijd voerden met andere verzetsgroepen tegen president Assad.

Sinds het begin van dit jaar hebben botsingen tussen ISIS-milities en andere rebellengroepen 3000 levens gekost en de opstand tegen Assad verzwakt.

Bolwerken
De ISIS-strijders hebben zich nu teruggetrokken in hun bolwerken in het oosten van Syrië en de buitenwijken van de stad Aleppo, meldt het Syrisch Observatorium voor de Mensenrechten, de strijd in Syrië op de voet volgt.

Een andere militante rebellengroepering, het aan al-Qaida gelieerde al-Nusra, heeft bemiddeld in de aftocht van ISIS uit de provincies Idlib en Latakia.

Ervaren strijders
Aanvankelijk waren de andere rebellen blij met de hulp van ISIS in het verzet tegen Assad, vanwege de aanwezigheid van veel ervaren buitenlandse strijders.

De ISIS-milities legden de burgers in de door hen bezette gebieden een steng-islamitische levenswijze op. Uiteindelijk raakte ISIS in het westen van Syrië verzwakt door de strijd met andere rebellen en door het grote aantal overlopers naar andere milities.

[Turkey ready to respond any attack to Suleyman Shah tomb in Syria, FM Davutoğlu says]

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has reiterated that Turkey has the right to take all precautions to protect the tomb of Süleyman Shah in Syria following clashes around the shrine, which is recognized as Turkish territory.

“As of now, there has been no [move on] our soldiers or our land there. But in the event of such a threat, we are ready to take all sorts of precautions,” Davutoğlu told reporters in the eastern province of Van on March 14.

His statement came after clashes between opposition groups the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) intensified in the region and the al-Qaeda-affiliated organization took control of a nearby town. The Tomb of Suleyman Shah, who was the founder of the Seljuk Empire in Anatolia and died in 1086, is located in the governorate of Aleppo. The tomb sits 25 kilometers from the Turkey-Syria border and remains under Turkish sovereignty under a 1921 treaty signed between Turkey and France, which was then the colonial power in Syria. That agreement was renewed after Syria gained independence in 1936.

Any attack against the tomb either from “the regime, from radical groups of from anybody” would be subjected to retaliation from Turkey, which would take all measures for the protection of that land, Davutoğlu said.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry, General Staff and the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) held a meeting on March 13 on the security issue of the tomb, said the minister, noting that the prime minister and the president were also informed.

A Turkish flag flies over the tomb and a small garrison of around 25 troops is permanently stationed there.
