Strangely in the ultra-professional world of F1, Force India launched and debuted its new car, the VJM06, at Silverstone on Saturday with only one race driver under contract -- Paul di Resta.

"Whoever does that is surely having problems," mused veteran Swiss F1 correspondent Roger Benoit, who writes for Blick newspaper.

When asked the obvious question about the missing race driver, deputy boss Bob Fernley immediately admitted that Jules Bianchi and Adrian Sutil are candidates.

"Jules is a significant candidate, along with Adrian," he said. "And a few others.

"I think we shouldn't close any doors off."

Could one of the significant others be Bruno Senna, the former HRT and Williams driver? According to one rumour, Scot di Resta has confided to some that his teammate this year will be the well sponsored Brazilian.

Another rumour is that Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, despite already counting himself out of the running for 2013, is now back in the frame with new sponsors.

The biggest betting money, however, is on Frenchman Bianchi, the Nicolas Todt-managed rookie who was Force India's reserve driver last year.

His place might also be bundled with a Ferrari engine deal for 2014.

"If we'd had an ideal world," said Fernley, "we'd have liked to run Jules for two years as a third driver.

"What's happened with the Nico (Hulkenberg) departure is that it's just taken us out of our comfort zone in terms of where we were wanting to plan going forward."

Force India has said it plans to unveil the name of di Resta's 2013 teammate ahead of the second test in Barcelona later this month.

Former Williams, Renault and HRT Formula 1 driver Bruno Senna will race for Aston Martin in this year's World Endurance Championship.

The 29-year-old Brazilian will race one of the British manufacturer's pair of GTE Pro class Aston Martin Vantage GTEs in the full championship, including the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The deal rules Senna out of contention for the remaining seats on the F1 grid. He had recently been linked to a Force India drive.

"I want to move forward and get back to winning races," Senna told AUTOSPORT. "The opportunities weren't there to do that in Formula 1."

Senna will share the Gulf-liveried car with fellow Aston Martin Racing newcomer Frederic Makowiecki in each of the eight races, while Rob Bell will join them as the third driver for Le Mans and the Spa 6 Hours.

Senna will race the Aston for the first time at next month's Sebring 12 Hours alongside team regulars Darren Turner and Mucke. He previously contested Le Mans with ORECA in 2009.

AMR team principal John Gaw said: "Our aim is to win at Le Mans and in the WEC, and we are particularly pleased to welcome such a professional driver line-up to Aston Martin Racing in this centenary year."

The second Pro car in AMR's four-strong WEC entry will be shared by Turner and Mucke, who took class honours in last year's series finale at Shanghai.

They will be joined by former JRM HPD and Nissan driver Peter Dumbreck at Spa and Le Mans.

AMR has also confirmed the line-ups in its two GTE Am class Vantages: Danes Allan Simonsen, Christoffer Nygard and Kristian Poulsen, who drove for AMR last year at Le Mans, will share one, while Jamie Campbell-Walter, Stuart Hall and Roald Goethe will drive the other.

AMR has a further two cars on the reserve list for the Le Mans 24 Hours, which could also run in selected WEC rounds.

Karthikeyan kwam voor zijn jaren bij HRT in 2005 ook al eens uit in de Formule 1, bij Jordan. Daarna was hij jarenlang uit beeld en reed onder andere A1 Grand Prix en Superleague Formula.

Afgelopen week in Jerez testte zowel James Rossiter en Jules Bianchi voor het team van de Indiase eigenaar Vijay Mallya. Rossiter is de ontwikkelingscoureur voor het team, terwijl Bianchi officieel als test- en reservecoureur was in 2012. Naast hem is daar nog Adrian Sutil, die eind 2011 aan de kant werd gezet door Force India ten faveure van Nico Hülkenberg.

De bedoeling is dat het team voor de test in Barcelona de tweede rijder bekendmaakt. In januari waren er al geruchten dat het team problemen zou hebben, omdat enkele bedrijven –en tevens sponsoren- van Mallya in de problemen zitten. Paul di Resta is tot nu toe de enige rijder.

Dat zei de 36-jarige Australiër na de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië op Silverstone, waar hij als tweede was gefinisht achter de Duitser Nico Rosberg.

Webber maakte afgelopen week bekend dat hij de Formule 1 na dit seizoen verruilt voor het langeafstandsracen.

De 23-jarige Ricciardo rijdt momenteel voor Toro Rosso, de renstal waarmee Red Bull nauwe banden heeft.

De talentvolle Australiër eindigde op Silverstone als achtste en heeft dit jaar inmiddels elf WK-punten bij elkaar gesprokkeld.

''Ik heb al een paar gesprekjes met Daniel gehad en dat kunnen er in de toekomst wel wat meer worden'', zei Webber zondag. ''Ik denk dat hij de belangrijkste kandidaat is om mij op te volgen.''

Teambaas Christian Horner zei eerder deze week al dat Ricciardo samen met teamgenoot Jean-Eric Vergne en Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus) in beeld is om de plek van Webber over te nemen.
