The presale for this year’s Incubate festival will start on Thursday the March 1st 2012, 10:00. The first artists performing at Incubate 2012 are announced during the Incubated concert series later that day. #incu12 takes place on 10 to 16 September 2012 in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

Vanavond wordt in Tilburg weer een Incubated concertavond gehouden (met Shining en Pterodactyl). De organisatie, die tevens het Incubate festival organiseert, greep de kans aan om de eerste 10 namen voor het festival bekend te maken.

Buzzcocks, Damo Suzuki, Malcolm Middleton, Nils Frahm, Luik, Frank Fairfield, Digger & The Pussycats, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Rameses en Divorce staan alle medio september op het Incubate festival in Tilburg. (met dank aan @3voor12Tilburg).

Tickets voor Incubate zijn reeds te koop via de Facebook van het festival en kosten 60 euro (passe-partout) of 15/27,50 euro voor een dagticket.

Gisteren werden de eerste bands al bevestigd, nu zijn ook House of Wolves en Royal Headache bevestigd.

Like we did last year we want to maintain the Incu Thursday; Every week that we’ve got an announcement to make about Incubate 2012 we’re going to post it on Thursday, so that’s why it’s called like that.

After the first twelve names that we confirmed last week and because we’re in a happy baby-mood this week, we’ve got only one name for you today; Blood Beach. This band from Portland, USA are ‘droning out some psychedelic hip-swingers, like a haunting siren dragging you to the dark side that would leave every Jedi forceless‘.

EXPO ‘70 was formed in Los Angeles by Justin Wright. Initially, the group also included Wright’s friend, PK . The pair improvised creating sounds bouncing effect-ridden instruments creating a wide range of textures and moods. EXPO ‘70’s first recording and inception was during PK’s project SXBRS recording session, resulting in one of many split releases on PKs’ label. After playing two shows (with Parts & Labor and Tyondai Braxton respectively), they ventured back into the studio. “Live July 18, 2004” was recorded with the help of Bryan Levene /artist]), and recalls the spirit of the Taj Mahal Travellers improvisational drones.

Ancient Ocean sounds like a primal roar from the prehistorically deep blue. Melodic meditational tunes build on delicate drones elaborating on humming tones. The soundscapes from this one-man project are created with elements of acid-folk, minimalism and drone metal that develop into a fuzzy wall of sound. Live John Bahannon relies on his guitar, samples and an arsenal of stompboxes. The perfect soundtrack for zoning out, falling asleep or some inner excavation.

It wasn’t Will Oldham (Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) who got the attention on his last record ‘Wolfroy Goes To Town’, but his protégé Angel Olsen. With her fragile, delicate voice she surprised many critics. ‘Strange Cacti’ is the name of her limited cassette (100 pieces) that she released last year and luckily enough it‘s now also available digitally and on vinyl. The cassette consists of six lo-fi songs guided only by her voice and her guitar and is about broken hearts and the search for her inner self.

These are the following artist we can confirm; two-piece Ben Butler & Mousepad (photo), Hubble and Diamond Terrifier (both solo projects of ZS members) and the Serbian duo Mesta.

A full-on shredfest presented to you by Ben Greenberg, the fret-master known for gigging around in an armada of bands. Talking about his album cover he said: “If you frame anything right you can make it look like space.” Something he certainly succeeded. Live, endless repetitions with subtle variations are combined with an energetic performance giving it something spectral. The space telescope ‘Hubble’ broadens mankind's view, but this Hubble serves as a microscope that broadens your view on minimalism.

The man behind Ben Butler & Mousepad, Joe Howe, likes to do two things at shows. First of all “Engage the audience as much as possible” and second “Play the sh*t out of keyboards”. Howe, also responsible for acts as Gay Against You and Germlin, knows he’s mistreating his keyboards and synths, but luckily he’s still capable of making danceable funky tunes out of it. With a little help from a live drummer he is mixing ELO’s progmusic with the new Scandinavian Skweee-sound.

Diamond Terrifier, or <>T, is the English translation of Vajrabhairava, the Buddhist deity with 9 faces, 34 hands, and 16 legs. He has always been described as fear-inducing, scary, and intimidating and he has conquered all evil spirits, including the Lord of Death, Yama. Imagine him reincarnated in Sam Hillmer and armed with a saxophone, droning out strangled notes that resonate and vibrate so strongly leaving diamonds terrified to break.

Minimalistic, untroubled, folky soundscapes brought to you by the Serbian duo Borislav and Senka. They met in the local orthodox Christian choir, explaining the influences in their spiritually charged music to each-other. Another remarkable inspiration is the Dutch artist Bas Jan Ader, who was fascinated by gravity and falling. Expect a modest alternative folk interpretation of slowcore, where their voices and Serbian lyrics carefully melt together, creating a warm and melancholic atmosphere.

It’s Thursday again so we can finally confirm new artist for Incubate 2012. This time we got 6 artist to add to our line-up, you can find the complete line-up on our artist page.

These are the following artist we can confirm: Garage legends Reigning Sound (photo), one of the Espers frontwomen Meg Baird, the free-jazz duo Trevor Watts & Veryan Weston, avant-jazz from Sabir Mateen, ambient soundscapes by A-Sun Amissa and last but not least jazz pianist Kelvin Sholar.

Two of those pioneers who earned their stripes, influenced and developed the genre since the seventies. They already have been playing together off and on for over 20 years, while their individual careers taken them on different trajectories of the jazz scene. With a wide-range of styles, Watts and Weston perfectly counterbalance each other musical spirit. Weston’s piano as driver and Watts’ sax as navigator. Get a glimpse of what happens when two innovators with technical brilliance collide.

“No one is listening to you, or to me” is what Meg Baird sings on her last record ‘Seasons On Earth’. Well.. we can assure you; we have listened to her, a lot! Maybe you know Baird as one of the frontwomen from psychofolkgroup Espers or maybe you know her from her solo albums. Either way we can say that she impresses with her voice. Most likely not only us, because this singer based in Philadelphia worked also with artists like Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Sharon van Etten and Sharron Kraus.

As being one of those avant-jazz musicians active since the seventies, Sabir Mateen played with almost all icons of the genre in almost all possible formations. His main instrument is tenor saxophone, but as a multi-instrumental artist he handles himself on the alto sax, clarinet, percussions and flute also. Known for versatile live performances you never know what to expect, but a guaranteed quality trademark is certainly in order.

Mixing all kinds of jazz with electronic music, recording/performing with Carl Craig, Q-Tip and Stevie Wonder, it looks like Kelvin Sholar is a man of extremes. Raised by a musical family Sholar was already on stage when he was in utero. Nowadays is a well-educated classical pianist with a well-stocked cabinet full of jazz trophies. Maybe Kelvin Sholar’s name isn’t well-known to the general audience, but behind the scenes he’s a big name and that’s not for nothing.

A-Sun Amissa sounds like a Godspeed You! Black Emperor record that keeps skipping before the outbreak with the shit-your-pants intensity of dark ambient chief Lustmord. While you drift away on their intense ambient soundscapes to other realities, they will secretly cause the start of an apocalypse. Started as a two piece formed by Glissando members, they will collaborate as a five-piece at Incubate including band members that have worked with acts such as The Julie Mittens and Machinefabriek.

There are not many people in contemporary pop music who can turn everything they touch into gold. Greg Cartwright is such a person. Well… If you like thrashed gold. Starting out in the Compulsive Gamblers, he gained popularity as Greg Oblivian in the awe-inspiring fucked-up-blues/garagerockband The Oblivians. As frontman of Reigning Sound he explores the more poppy side of fuzzed-out garage, creating gems that can leave you with tears in your eyes, as well as make you dance with joy.

It’s Thursday again so we bring you the new artists confirmed for Incubate 2012. This time we’ve added five artists to our line-up and in case you haven’t noticed yet, our line-up page’s improved. As always, if you log in with your account on our site you can adjust the bio’s, compile your own timetable and collect credits for everything you contribute.

The following new artist are added to the line-up: 100% Silk figureheads Mi Ami (photo) + solo projects Sex Worker (Daniel Martin-McCormick) and Magic Touch (Damon Palermo). London-based noise band Maria & The Mirrors and Danish punk rascals De Høje Hæle. You can find the complete line-up on our artist page.

Nobody expected art punk band Mi Ami to make this kind a change after losing their bass player. The two remaining guys, Damon Palermo and Daniel Martin-McCormick, decided to put their guitar and drumkit aside and started to work with synths and drummachines. Dolphins, their first release as a duo, sounded as “a meltin, dystopian refraction of left-field new age, lush soundscapes and Italo daydreams”. However the new record, Decade, got a more four-on-the-floor kind of vibe with disco basslines.

Sex Worker is the side project of Mi Ami singer Daniel Martin-McCormick. Born from the desire to connect with the audience in an more intimate way, instead of being loud. Intimate, electronic soundscapes based on the concept of alienation and mournfulness. All framed in the context of personal suffering in a larger social context. Music that provided healing to its creator after an 3 year period of depression. Live the touching lyrics and vocals bring you into a comfortable and intimate space.

Magic Touch is the early-mid '90s house disguise of Damon Palermo, bandmate alongside Daniel "Ital" Martin-McCormick in Mi Ami. Palermo presents a brief interpretation of the last 3 decades of music blended in a ’90s house-sound. His good old fashioned synthesizers, infectious beats and wide variety of samples are the perfect subsurface for a sweaty night. Vain yourself back in your Levi’s 501, electric sliding at a rave party.

What can you expect from three kids from London making noise? Their performance consists of dueling drums and shrieking vocals by the two females of this collective. All tied together by a variety of electronic devices, banging out a wall of pummelling power electronics. Like a modern tribe of banshees, howling at the moon while performing a ritual sacrifice. This is all completed with a glamorous look, inspired by the likes of Sister Sledge and Roxy music.

A band with an ø and an æ so yes, that means that this band is from Scandinavia. Probably you will hear more of that kind of sounds if you hear De Høje Hæle play live, because they are singing in their own, Danish language. But don’t stop reading because you are not familiar with the language, we promise you; after two songs you’re just going to sing along with the boys. Because one thing is for certain; these rascals from Copenhagen know how to write a good, two minutes long punksong.

Hurray, another Incu Thursday! Today we got six new names for you to announce for Incubate 2012, which happens on 10 to 16 September in Tilburg, NL.

We are glad to confirm the following artists for this year’s festival: Black Dice, Silver Apples, Mozes and the Firstborn, Paul Collins’ Beat, Die Jungen and The KVB.

In September 2007 Simeon went on tour for the first time in years, performing as a solo version of the Silver Apples. Silver Apples / Simeon performed at, among others, All Tomorrow's Parties (Minehead, UK, December 2007); Electric Picnic, Stradbally, Ireland (September 2008); All Tomorrow's Parties, Australia (January 2009), The Unit, Tokyo, (July 2009); Oscillations Music + Arts Festival, Belfast, Northern Ireland (September 2009); Austin Psych Fest 3, TX (April 2010); Albuquerque Experimental, Albuquerque, NM (October 2010), Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou (May 2011), London, England iTunes Festival (July 2011), RecBeat festival, in Recife, Brazil (February 2012).

In October 2011, Simeon performed as Silver-Qluster, a collaboration with Cluster frontman Hans-Joachim Roedelius, in ATP I'll Be Your Mirror Festival in Asbury Park, NJ. On the same festival the following day, Simeon was invited onstage by Portishead to perform "We Carry On", Portishead homage to Silver Apples.

Same place, same time, it’s Incu Thursday again. That moment where we can finally share all confirmations that our music promotes gathered during the course of the week, and gathering is what they did. The versatility of artists in this Incu Thursday emphasises our proposition. You know: ‘Black metal next to free jazz’, that part. These are the names we can confirm:

One of the big names in the dub-techno scene Andy Stott next to the talented young guitar virtuoso Cian Nugent. The renowned free-jazz/free-noise combo Fully Blown (Horacio Pollard & Danny O’Really) next to the trans-media project by Marc Richter called Black To Comm, who will play a live soundtrack along with the silent film ‘Earth’ by Ho Tzu Nyen. For this occasion assisted by Vindicatrix among others.

Wait, there is more. Doom, stoner & drones fans, you can be relieved. Stinking Lizavete, Ides of Gemini, Darsombra and Tarentatec will provide a descent doses of blackened music. If you like it a little bit faster Holy Roar provides us each year hard-hitting metal and hardcore bands. This time it’s up to Monolith and Desolated to fulfil that humble task. Last but certainly not least its up to the enchanting Norwegian/Dutch Jæ to complete the melting pot.

We also got the confirmations for the first two films of our film program. The Zellner Bros are present with their film Kid-Thing, a fever-dream fable about the desolate and rebellious girl Annie. The other film is the short documentary Framing the Other by Ilja Kok and Willem Timmers. A documentary about the awkward encounters between tourists and the Mursi woman of Southern Ethiopia.

De Australische garagerockband Royal Headache heeft de komende tournee afgelast. De groep zou o.a. een optredens komen geven op de Nederlandse festivals Into The Great Wide Open en Incubate, maar ook een concert in Vera en dB`s stond gepland.

We’re thrilled to announce that martial industrial-band Laibach will perform on the Incubate Sunday. Roadburn ’12 highlight Conan will bring their doom/sludge back to Tilburg, and Busdriver is the first hiphop confirmation. Mark Sultan is replacing Royal Headache, who cancelled their European tour and last but not least we booked the dutch synth sensation Earth Control.

Also added is the hand-drawed film Midori-Ko and the shortfilm Body Memory.

Its Thursday again, the Incubate office worked at full speed for all the confirmations for todays Incu Thursday. The line-up for Incubate 2012 already has 70 artists confirmed. Today we can add another four to the bill for the festival in September:

French musician Yann Tiersen will take one of the prominent spots on this years bill. Hes done soundtracks for Amélie and Good Bye, Lenin!, but his main focus is touring and making studio albums. On his latest album he collaborated with Efterklang, Peter Broderick but also Matt Elliott, who just so happens to be the second confirmation for today.
Last year Yann Tiersens music could already be heard at Incubate. Nu.nl wrote the following: How much the soundtrack of Amélie is imprinted in the collective memory was made very clear during the Play Me Im Yours-project during Incubate festival. The catchy movie tune was by far the most played tune on the through the city scattered pianos

The hugely influential and one of the forerunners of techno and electronica genres Chris & Cosey are also added to the line-up of Incubate 2012. Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti formed this collaboration out of the ashes of Throbbing Gristle. The fourth confirmation for today is King Midas Sound, the London-based project which flies under the wings of Hyperdub.

Usually we announce new confirmations on Thursday, but because it’s World Goth Day we’re sharing some new confirmations for Incubate ’12 today. We reached a total of 95 confirmed artist with these four new additions:

We are very proud to present the exclusive performance by the legendary English goth rock band Fields of the Nephilim. By incorporating elements from heavy metal and Carl McCoy’s trademark growled vocals they have been setting the standard in the gothic scene since 1984. They haven’t performed in the Netherlands since 1988! For World Goth Day (today!), the band has been awarded with ‘Best 90′s goth band’ and ‘Best 2000′s goth band’ of 2012. Yes, we managed to get the rarely performing Darkwood to play Incubate 2012! Darkwood is the neofolk unity of many different elements. From traditional themes and acoustic instruments with experimental soundscapes and samples and mixing English and German lyrics. They only performed live 16 times and their last performance was in 2007, which makes this occasion extra special.

Renowned extreme noise act Consumer Electronics will definitely make some ears bleed during Incubate. Vast walls of noise are coming your way with power electronics interspersed with industrial sound. Walls that will vaporize every eardrum that comes unprepared.

The collective Drum Eyes led by Shigeru Ishihara aka DJ Scotch Egg, notorious from his Game Boy act. With this collective he and his fellow musicians explore different facets of electronic music. As you can see from the numerous of different genre-tags used, this band is mixing more elements than your average blender.

It’s Thursday again, the day that we announce all things happening during the run-up of this year’s Incubate. As an independent festival we love to involve others. New persons participating alongside our point of view yields new ideas, critical notes and a lot of energy. On the other hand it prevents tunnel vision and slumber. This Incu Thursday emphasizes on that what is important to us; collaboration and participation!

Louder than War and Incendiary Magazine curate V39
The two webzines join forces for the curatorship of V39. The two of them also got something to celebrate as well. Louder than War celebrates its label launch and Incendiarymag celebrates their 10th anniversary. John Robb (photo), editor in chief of Louder than War, was a guest at Incubate 2011. He then performed with his band Goldblade and interviewed Steve Ignorant at the DIY Conference.

As collaborations yields new ideas they’ve come up with their own theme for their curatorship: “Cultural Cringe”. Cultural Cringe will host a number of bands that don’t fit – bands who are old, ugly, uncool and un-rock, ignored acts, nobodies, bands singing in strange languages, and bands who are strangers in their own lands. These bands are:

Gul Night Out Sunday, 16 September - Truly out there experimental non-pop pop music, possibly one of the most enigmatic noise acts around
Boutros Bubba Sunday, 16 September - Wild, weird and absurd, cocking a snook at Beefheart and Slayer

New Jacks 4.0 selected artists

For the fourth time we invited young artists to create new work for our festival. Since last year we collaborate together with bkkc on a shared exhibition by artists that graduated not yet, or less than 5 years ago at a Brabant art academy. For the first time we invited artists to submit themselves for New Jacks 4.0. All the selected artist will work with the theme: “You are Incubate”, the selected artists are Jordy Koevoets, Petra van Noort, Angela de Weijer, Robert Lombarts and Erik van Liere.

Open Source Poetry

In addition to earlier Open Source Arts projects there is now an Open Source Poetry. The design is the same as the other projects: we offer the stage to everyone that wants to participate. This happens through several ways:

- All entries are published on this blog.
- One poem from each contributor will be chosen and recited during the festival week (10-16 September 2012) in a special program on Incubate radio.
- Some selected contributors will be invited to recite own poems during the Incubate Poetry-nights. Prior to this they will get a workshop from a professional poet, who will recite during the same night.

Do you want to be in the spotlights with your poetry? Send your entry before August 13 (including your name, e-mail and telephone number) to poetry@incubate.org.

Conditions:
- Only own work
- Maximum of 5 poems
- Because of the available time we prefer poems that aren’t that long

Everybody who contributes will participate. There are no further cost. We don’t ask any commission for publications or assignments as a result of participating at Open Source Poetry.

Ze stonden een paar dagen terug nog op Le Guess Who? May Day in Utrecht, maar Sleepy Sun komt ook naar Incubate. De bevestiging was te zien op een posten op het Pinkpop-terrein.

De Amerikaanse band bezweert met een spannende mix van stoner, folk en psychedelica en stond eerder op o.a. Pukkelpop, Lowlands, Crossing Border, Dour en Bevrijdingspop Haarlem.

The whole week we’ve been looking forward to this moment to announce four really stunning new names for this year’s Incubate. First of all we like to start that living legend Kenny Dixon Jr, better known as Moodymann, is coming to Incubate 2012. This extraordinary appearance is together with Theo Parrish the creator of the Detroit techno/house-scene and comes to Tilburg to let us hear why he is, after making music for 20 years, still relevant.

At the same night as Moodymann, Saturday the 15th of September, another big name will come to visit our festival this year; Nathan Fake. This English electronical musician just announced after releasing his debut record & the in 2009 released record Hard Islands finally a new record. Steam Days, is gonna be released again on the record label of James Holden at the end of August; exactly, just a few weeks before our festival.

The last dance name of today is Ital. Daniel Martin-McCormick, who’s also part of earlier announced acts as Mi Ami and Sex Worker, is a typical cross-patch in the experimental house scene. His tracks are getting released by Planet Mu and Silk 100%, but the according to XLR8R one of the best new artists of 2011 is mostly known for his extraordinary live performances.

Incubate is a festival for everyone, so we’re also adding a non-eletronical name to this year’s line-up: Howlin’ Rain. This psydelic rockband from San Fran sounds like a modern-day answer to classic 70s rock acts and according to our collegue gave this band on of the best perfomances during this year’s SXSW.

We know today is not Thursday, but nonetheless we’re really thrilled to add another four artists to the line-up of this year’s Incubate. Today it’s Tuesday, so let’s make it Techno Tuesday, because we’re adding four top names from the Frankfurt techno/electronic scene:

We’re kicking off with Johannes Heil. This producer brought romance and melody back into techno in the late nineties with his tracks on Kanzleramt Records. This label is owned by another new addition: Heiko Laux, one of the most influential people in German house scene at the moment. This same label also released the debut of Anthony Rother, ‘Sex With The Machines‘, which caused a revival of the German electro scene. And you already guessed it probably; also Rother is playing at our festival this year. The last confirmation hasn’t been performing live for eleven years: Pete Namlook. These four artists will perform on Friday 14th of September in the 013 venue in Tilburg.

Kunstenaar Leah Capaldi voert van 10 tot en met 16 september haar werk ‘7 Hours, 7 Days’ uit. Ze zingt zeven dagen lang zeven uur per dag non-stop karaoke. Many things found their completion this week. Earlier this week we announced Global Mashups vol2., the complete art program and the DIY Conference for Incubate 2012. In the meantime Sacred Bones completed their program. We got Incubate-friend Jameszoo to release his EP during Incubate, something that he will celebrate with some of his friends and fellow artists. And besides all that we managed to add 9 more artist for this years line-up.

Let’s start with the Sacred Bones residency. Together with Copenhagen based label Posh Isolation they’ve added Cult of Youth, UV PØP and Street Drinkers to their program. With these additions they have completed their curated line-up, which you can find here.

Friend of Incubate and upcoming producer Jameszoo will release his new EP during Incubate. To celebrate this he hosts his own stage and invited his label boss Akkachar, his partner in crime Krampfhaft and friend Coco Bryce to take the stage alongside him.

But wait, there is more. Pure-blood troubadoor Leif Vollebekk will enchant you with his soulful voice. Speaking of enchanting voices, journalist, writer and musician Jenny Hval will also make her voice heard during Incubate. Jimbo Isaac is not a stranger to Incubate. In 2008 he performed at ZxZw and now he will return with his new band H A R K.

International Jazzcore/freegrind trio Heinz Karlhausen & The Diatonics will give their audience a complex and intriguing experience. The new lo-fi ‘all-star’ trio Joe Speedboat. The trio consist of Jelle Vanlerberghe, Steve Marreyt (Edgar Wappenhalter) and Wim Lecluyse (Circle Bros). We got 2 bands on saturday for Weemoed. The synthesizer lady Miaux and pychedelic duo Young Colour. This last band won their spot at Incubate via vi.be just as New Bleeders who will play on Saturday at Kafee ‘t Buitenbeentje.

As we are nearing the completion of the full Incubate program for 2012 we have seven new acts to add to our ever-growing line-up. Here at Incubate headquarter we’re very excited about all the artists so far, but unfortunately booking this many acts also brings with it the inevitability of cancelations. This time, luckily, this number is limited to three. Read below for more information about this weeks ups and downs.

We start with xxxy. This London-based producer is headlining the Jameszoo release party in the Hall of Fame on Friday, making together with Akkachar, Krampfhaft and Coco Bryce (who we announced last week) an evening you don’t want to miss. Moving to another part of the wide Incubate spectrum we find Sadistic Intent ready to take you into the dark realms of their uncompromising death metal. Stirring up another flavour is Tilburg based-rapper Apex Aurilliuz. A traveller and a culture mixing hip-hop artist who will open up for another much talked about artist; Kid Ink. Moving on we catch a ride with Cactus Truck. A free jazz, noise, improv trio from Amsterdam that’s getting ready to be heard. Both literally as figuratively. Up next is Wolvon. A Dutch post-punk band also featured in Incubate Scene Report Groningen. All too much? Then it’s time to relax to the soothing and beautifully unusual voice of Elise Mélinand. And we conclude this weeks announcements with Hare Akedod, an experimental live improv rituals duo from Antwerp, Belgium.

As we said before three acts are unfortunately unable to play this years Incubate. These are: Art of Burning Water, Broken.Heart.Collector and Villainy.

If in any case you didn’t read the header… Napalm Death!! Who else than these influential grindcore/death metal legends to give a ferocious kickstart for Incubate 2012 on Monday September 10th. While you’re recovering from that violence you can enjoy Shit is Bangin’ dj EZD together with Kid Ink on the Tuesday. Tilburg’s very own enfant ‘texus’rrible Timmietex will be the host for this evening.

Just like last year 3voor12 and Incubate present you with Hollandse Nieuwe. Bringing you new Dutch artists free of charge. The artists we think that bring something new to the Dutch music-table are Port of Call, Kleinindustrie, Those Foreign Kids and Saint Helena Dove.

And there is more. The very first edition of Tosti Sessions will be held during Incubate. Tosti Sessions brings you the culinary taste of grilled cheese sandwich in combination with unusual chamber music. De Link was so kind to provide us with young composers and musicians and the Tostibar (Bomenlounge @ Faxxgebouw) provides you with delicious cheese sandwiches. There will be a Tosti Session every day, Monday until Saturday in the following order: Susanna Borsch, Filip Kimho duo, Duo Verso, Miriam Overlach, Stump & Schouten and Fanny Alofs.

Next to more music announcements we’ve also got another art project to announce: ‘I want to believe’. On Saturday evening, the 15th of September, there will be a performance evening curated by the art blog PietMonderiaan.com. This performances consists of drawing from everyday situations made by Bas Schevers (NL/B), David Sherry (UK), Jean Charles de Quillacq(F), JODI (NL) and Pablo Wendel (D).

Niet geheel onbelangrijk voor het bezoeken van een festival is het antwoord op de vraag: "waar overnacht ik?"
Tijdens Incubate zijn de hotels altijd al vol met de artiesten van Incubate, dus het is moeilijk om aan een slaapplek te komen als je van verder komt en niemand in Tilburg kent.
Daarom heeft Incubate ook dit jaar weer een camping. Voor een tientje per nacht sta je op een kwartier lopen van het centrum van Tilburg.

- Silver Apples, charmant knullig af en toe, maar de nummers staan als een huis

- Laibach, leben heißt leben!
- Twinsistermoon, erg fragiel maar wel mooi, kwam er wel erg laat achter dat dit de mannelijke helft - van Natural Snow Buildings was

- Howlin Rain, sympathiek

- Warm Digits, denderde heerlijk door, deed me erg denken aan The Soft Moon
- Heinz Karlhausen, voornamelijk heengegaan om de naam, aangename verrassing

Dieptepunten:
- Zo'n beetje naast de 013 een biertje drinken, dan bedenken dat Silver Apples over 20 min begint, met een dikke omweg naar bij de Paradox lopen, om er daar achter te komen dat hij in de 013 speelt

- Rennen naar de laatste trein naar Enschede en dan al staande bij het verkeerde perron hem zien vertrekken

- Matt Elliot, was wel erg kaal, helemaal voor zo'n grote zaal
- Yann Tiersen, deed mij vrij weinig, ik had er meer van verwacht

Incubate krijgt 150.000 euro, Mundial niets
TILBURG - In Brabant wordt met grote teleurstelling gereageerd op de provinciale verdeling van subsidies voor cultuur. Veel instellingen krijgen niets en vooral in de dans vallen grote klappen.

In Tilburg krijgt Festival Incubate 150.000 euro, maar Festival Mundial vist achter het net. Het Bossche theaterfestival Boulevard krijgt hetzelfde bedrag als Incubate.
Volgens directeur Jan Drissen van Mundial Productions is het de vraag of Mundial volgend jaar zal doorgaan. Iin ieder geval niet op dezelfde manier als voorgaande jaren. Een verhuizing uit Brabant naar elders hoort ook tot de mogelijkheden.

Holy Mountain: An intensely loud and unorthodox high-energy trio from Glasgow combining the riffs of Black Sabbath, the frenzied energy of Lightning Bolt and the attitude of the MC5. Listen to the band’s debut mini album ‘Earth Measure’ (Chemikal Underground) on their soundcloud.

Londoners Temples describe their sound as neo-psych and write songs that sound like dubious horoscopes. They’re good, especially if you’re in the mood for some trippy, colourful, guitar-music. Check it our for yourself here.

White Fangs are responsible for some raw and dirty punk music. This garage rock band from Bruxelles with members from The Wild Zeros and Warm Toy Machine appear direct and raucous, but they come with an attitude. Listen to White Fangs here.

Finnish post-rockers Siinai recently collaborated with Moonface, Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade fame, for the album With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. The band play an anthemic and celebratory blend of instrumental krautrock and triumphant prog-rock. They released their debut album Olympic Games back in February.

Mile Me Deaf is the band of Wolfgang Möstl, the singer from Killed By 9V Batteries who couldn’t make it to Incubate last year because of a broken tour bus. Not so important. That they’re all about very fine lo-fi pop is important. Listen here to their album ‘Eat Skull‘, which they released last summer.

Baby Guru is a flamboyant psychedelica trio from Athens, Greece. Honored for their songs with many layers and different types of strange noises. One time they’re completely instrumental, the other time it’s with warm vocal harmonies. Listen to Their latest album ‘Pieces’ here.

If a Turkish disco diva, a Nigerian record producer, and a Brazilian cabaret dancer all got together circa 1976, Fitz would be playing their party. DJ Fitz‘s psychedelica and exotica will make you dance the night away.

Dignan Porch
From Tooting, South London comes this 90′s-isch indie five piece gang and their messy, sometimes off-key but wonderful psychedelic lo-fi songs. They already played Incubate in 2011 and now return for the Februari edition of Incubated. Starting out as a solo project for singer Joe Walsh, Dignan Porch release their ‘real’ first album (the actual first album features Joe Walsh solo) ‘Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen’ through Captured tracks with brother Sam Walsh and close friends Ben Goodwin, Hayley Akins and Stephen Keane completing the line-up.

Jacco Gardner
Baroc sixties psychedelic music from Hoorn, Netherlands. Jacco Gardner’s upcoming debut is about to re-release through American label Trouble in Mind who are also responsible for releases for Ty Segall, Mikal Cronin, The Fresh & Onlys and more. Despite him being picked up in America he’s yet to conquer the Netherlands, but we foresee a bright future for this multi-instrumentalist who’s also active in other bands like Lola Kite.

Herrek:
When Gerrit van der Scheer lived in Indonesia, his dad worked there as a vicar, local people called him Herrek. Nowadays Van der Scheer lives in Rotterdam, gained fame with his former bands Bonne Aparte and Adept. Inspired by the modern-day Brooklyn scene with bands like Gang Gang Dance, Liars and Animal Collective he started to work on new music under his nickname and he got some help from his LUIK bandmate Lukas Dikker.

Voor de mensen die nog eens Nurse With Wound tijdens Incubate 2012 willen meemaken, morgenavond zendt Concertzender hun opnames uit van dat optreden. Ik ben toen zelf naar MMOTHS gegaan volgens mij, dus denk wel dat ik het terug ga luisteren.
