1965 Porsche 356 SC Race Vehicle
One of the first 356 Race Cars produced by Rod Emory / Emory Motorsports
This Porsche 356 Racer is a special car to Carrera Motors. The current owner purchased it as a street car from our lot in 1994. Making the acquaintence of Rod Emory not long after that, he became interested in vintage racing and the car underwent full race preparation in 1997-98.
The car has been actively raced for the last ten years, with vintage log book entries dating to 1999. The car has been a Left Coast machine, with a notable appearance at the 2007 Rennsport Renunion at Daytona International Speedway.
There are just a tick over 80 total hours on the current engine, with about 30 on a top-end refresh.
Items that come with the car are two record books with all run/race results for events entered over the last ten racing seasons. This is an impressive catalog of information and reveals the fastidious nature of the owner and his attention to detail.
The paint overall is in very good to excellent condition, but there is a peppering of rock chips on the nose which are a testament to the racing it has done.
The cost to build race vehicles of "Emory" quality is justifiably high. This car can be yours for significantly less.
The highlights:
• Engine -
1620 cc full-race built by ACE 356 / Arthur Conner. 145 hp with lots of torque and mid range. Solex 40 P-II carbs.
• Transmission - Modified main shaft. B B A B.
• Suspension - Wright de-cambered front spindles, Koni shocks, 19 mm front sway bar, Skirmants Camber regulator, Rear suspension adjuster.
• Fuel System - Fuel cell with GT-style filler through hood; Carter high-flow fuel pump with regulator.
• Electrical - Light-weight harness with quick disconnects at engine. 12-Volt system, Alternator Conversion, High Torque Starter, custom battery cutoff through factory fuel port.
• Oil system - Full-flow oil system with Oberg cleanable filter, and front-mounted oil cooler
• Exterior - Full Lexan windows, Lexan headlight lenses, window straps, RayDot mirror.
• Interior - GT door panels & pulls; Speedster seats; fire-suppression system. Simpson competition belts, driver and passenger.
• Wheels and Brakes - 6.5 x 15 Minilites with 205 60/ 15 Yokohama A038 DOT race tires; disc brakes with KFP carbon brake pads.
This car is very reliable and race ready. Race conversion from street spec by Emory Motorsports, McMinnville, OR.
This is not a hardship sale and we will not be giving this car away. If you want a great-running car in which to race vintage events, this is certainly it.
