quote:KIMI RAIKKONEN DEAD TO F1
By Jason @ Mclaren Addicts - August 18 2010
Will F1 ever enjoy the single minded Finn KR again?
You have to say that his rally foray is not working out how he planned.
The two hot shoe rookies Kimi and American Ken Block have both put in very poor performances. Unbelievable when you think Kimi should rightly be a 3 time world F1 champion if it were not for the unreliable Mclaren (forgive me Ron). The last rally for Kimi was the worst of all when after an eight year lay off and only a brief stint of preperation Juha Kankkunen finished a respectable 8th after dicing with Kimi briefly before the Finn crashed again, finally finishing 25th. Currently Kimi is sitting 11th in the WRC title chase with15 points. 151 points behind the leader Loeb. Surely at a rumored $10M in 2010 Citreon are not happy. Keep this in mind, Redbull who sponsor the junior rally team of Kimi's only pays a retainer of $3.5M without performance related bonuses to Mark and Seb. But surely the thought of him staying in WRC is just PR. Because the mistakes are simply too many to ignore. Dare I say Nelsinho Piquet did a stirling job in comparison. How many cars or cans do such performances from personalities sell any way. Now the news is that KR was offered the Pirelli test driver job? I say rumour becaause the last thing F1 would want is a drunk Finn who says nought showing the Pirelli Calender Girls where he has parked his yacht. Let us not forget in his debut press conference for Ferrari KR went missing and was found asleep in a Fiat Punto out side the ski resort where their annual press conference is held. While I hate Fernando with a passion and Luca even more, I do believe the Ferrari President when he said they got more in one hour from SWEET FA than from Kimi in three years. Is it any wonder we now hear the distant thunder of Champcar and Lemans calling Kimi >>> the vodka is this way. There you have the crux of the problem. Kimi can do anything in a car when he wants to and as we have seen in 2008 - 2009, he just has not wanted to. Maybe the toll of being denied champion twice stung the most after taking the title in 2007? If Michael the work horse can no longer cut it what chance has MR FALLING DOWN DRUNK ON YOUTUBE got.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/86011quote:The ongoing dispute between Force India and Aerolab looks set to escalate after the Italian aerodynamics company hinted on Friday about fresh legal exchanges.
In a statement issued by Aerolab, in the wake of Force India being forced to pay it more than one million Euros in unpaid fees, the company said that it expected its director, Jean Claude Migeot, to soon be charged following a criminal complaint filed against him in Bologna.
However, with both the Formula 1 team and the Italian company having further outstanding legal issues relating to windtunnel models produced for the Lotus team, Aerolab hinted that it could launch its own action at the forthcoming Italian Grand Prix.
The statement said: "It appears that Force India's strategy will be to try and force Aerolab into a settlement that the company has no intention of accepting.
"The upcoming Italian Grand Prix at Monza, during which Force India's assets will be present under Italian jurisdiction, could trigger further exchanges of action between the two parties."
Aerolab said that Force India had been ordered to pay 1,074,730 Euros, plus damages and interest at the rate of eight per cent, to it over unpaid fees for services it provided to the Silverstone-based team.
It added: "As a result of the retaliatory action already taken by Force India, it is expected that Aerolab's Director, Mr Jean Claude Migeot, will soon be charged pursuant to a criminal complaint filed in Bologna. Aerolab is confident in the positive outcome of all judicial matters in this affair."
http://www.patronisef1.co(...)iver-salaries-reportquote:A report from the Spanish media has claimed that Fernando Alonso is now the highest-paid Formula One driver on the grid, with the Spaniard being paid a salary of around 30 million Euros by the Ferrari team this season.
Alonso celebrates topping the table that matters in 2010.
The report from the El Mundo newspaper claims that Alonso has leapt to the top of the F1 salary chart, following the departure of former overpaid Ferrari team leader Kimi Raikkonen from the grid.
Oddly, though, thanks to the salary that Ferrari still owes to Raikkonen for 2010 after they bought out his contract, the Finn is believed to have earned a figure near to Alonso's retainer for this year.
Alonso's 30 million Euro retainer is almost double any other salary on the grid, with McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton sitting second on the list with a 'mere' 16 million Euros.
Slightly surprisingly, Felipe Massa is third, with a 14 million Euro salary from the money-mad Ferrari. Reigning champion Jenson Button is the fourth highest-paid driver with 9 million Euros.
More surprising is the relatively low wage of the Red Bull drivers. Mark Webber is 9th on the list with a reported 4.2 million Euro salary, while Sebastian Vettel earns just 2 million Euros, less even than Lotus driver Jarno Trulli.
Elsewhere on the list, Timo Glock is earning a cool 1 million Euros for his Virgin Racing nightmare, Force India are spending just 200,000 Euros per driver for 2010, and Karun Chandhok looks to have been driving for free throughout the few races he completed for the Hispania Racing team.
The figures are solely based on their team salary, and do not factor in external sponsorship and performance-related bonuses. Meaning that some drivers might actually be even more ludicrously rich than the El Mundo list suggests.
