Ja.

Dat album, The Golden Hour, is echt tof. Zowel de beats als de uitwerking van het concept.quote:Kendall Tucker, better known as 14KT, was born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan in October of 1980. He was first introduced to music through singing in the church choir and immediately became attached to the way music could move people. In 1994 his involvement in Hip Hop began when, as an emcee, he joined the Michigan Hip Hop group known as the Athletic Mic League. Ironically, it was from a need for original production within his crew that he started making beats, using nothing but his parents Jazz & Soul records and a dual tape deck. Currently people stratch their heads when witnessing his unorthodox or "alien" production method by using computers.
As a product of the "Golden Era of Hip Hop", 14KT strives to be amongst the great beatmakers that he kept in his headphones--DJ Premier, Organized Noize, Pete Rock, Dr. Dre and J Dilla. As a musician, 14KT was heavily cultured by the rich, musical background and local history of Motown. However, he’s far from neglecting Gospel, Jazz, Rock, Electronic and Techno as sources of inspiration. This inspiration can be visually heard on his instrumental LP, “The Golden Hour” [Soundtrack], which was released in October of 2008 on A-Side Worldwide. While known for his Electro-Soul, J Dilla influenced production style, his album was an opportunity for 14KT to begin to wade into other genres, something he plans to continue.
Since his days of singing in church, 14KT believes that his involvement with music is to fulfill God's purpose for him on earth--to inspire. "It's amazing to me to be able to evoke certain emotions just from sounds. The deeper I get into music, the more I realize that I need to accomplish that as an artist."
quote:KT has constructed a pure instrumentals album that pushes well beyond the boundaries of beats. Sonically he’s stretching his signature Electro-Soul to the fullest extent, sliding into new genres like Rhythm-N-Synth. Blues so deep it’s called Purples. This is not a beat CD. It’s a carefully crafted soundtrack to KT’s life — going to the places we all go when we question ourselves or want to give up. The album in it’s totality draws on the moment when we know it’s Do or Die… and we choose Life. I preach The Golden Hour doctrine so tough because this album took me to church. KT thinks in beats like I think in words. His bars sound like sentences, his tracks are full paragraphs. His album a complete story. This isn’t shameless self-promotion…I stand to gain nothing financially from this project, or any other. This is me letting my TSS family know that there is music you can be confident will stick with you beyond a blog board post and a half-spin in the whip. There is music that will impart movement in a game we all want to shake our fist at from time to time. There is music crafted to lift you and take you on a journey outside of an MC’s simple braggadocio. There is music.

En dat terwijl ze als een punkband begonnen.quote:Furthermore, although rarely credited, Beastie Boys were one of the first groups to identify themselves as "gangsters", and one of the first popular rap groups to talk about violence, drug and alcohol use, possibly an influence from their time as a hardcore punk group. According to "Rolling Stone" magazine,[citation needed] their 1986 album Licensed to Ill is filled with enough references to guns, drugs, and empty sex (including the pornographic deployment of a Wiffle-ball bat in "Paul Revere") to qualify as a gangsta-rap cornerstone." In their early underground days, the seminal gangsta rap group N.W.A rapped over Beastie Boys tracks for songs such as "My Posse" and "Ill-Legal," and Beastie Boys' influence can be seen significantly in all of N.W.A's early albums. Their 1989 album Paul's Boutique included the similarly-themed tracks "Car Thief," "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" and "High Plains Drifter."
