Greg Poehler, creator and star of Welcome to Sweden, announced the sophomore comedy’s cancellation via Instagram on Tuesday in a lengthy, humorous and bittersweet message to its fans:
"Holy shit. What a ride! Due to some craptastically low ratings in the US, WTS is officially done. I am eternally grateful to all of our fans. When you make a show - and write, produce, obsess and and act in it - all you want us for someone, somewhere, to tell you they appreciate it. I'm sitting here crying, but mostly because I'll prob never work with Josephine, Christopher, Lena, Per and Claes again. The best thing is we live in an age where you can see the remainder of the eps on NBC and Hulu and Amazon and elsewhere (Paul Simon and Jack Black and Neve Campbell and Aubrey Plaza await). Despite Poehler’s mention of the remaining episodes being available online, there has been no announcement of a rollout plan.
The international production, which returned to NBC on July 19 to “craptastically low ratings,” starred Poehler as Bruce Evans, who experiences a bit of culture shock when he moves to Sweden with his girlfriend (Josephine Bornebusch). The comedy’s cast also included the likes of Lena Olin (Alias) and Patrick Duffy (Dallas).

Netflix heeft nog geen tweede seizoen besteld van de serie Sense8. De ontvangst voor de show van de Wachowski’s was vooral als passievol te omschrijven, maar ook gemengd. Mensen die van de serie hielden, vonden hem echt geweldig, maar de rest vond het niks. Echte middenwegen leken er in elk geval niet te bestaan. Toch lijkt dat tweede seizoen ondertussen steeds minder zeker te worden.
Toch blijkt J. Michael Straczynski, die samenwerkte met Lana en Andy Wachowski de boel wel positief in te zien. Hij vertelde “voorzichtig optimistisch” te zijn. Maar ”uiteindelijk hangt het van Netflix af.”
Dat er nog geen tweede seizoen besteld is, wil weer niet zeggen dat men nu stil zit. ”We zijn mensen van de lang termijn. We moeten weten waar het heen gaat, waar je beloond wordt en wat het betekent. Het eerste seizoen was een oorsprongsverhaal, seizoen 2 heeft zo zijn eigen verhaallijn en zo voorts. Om dat nu te vertellen zou niet passen bij de verrassingen die we in gedachten hebben.”
De mogelijkheid van een nieuw seizoen blijft voorlopig gewoon bestaan. Netflix verlengde Hemlock Grove bijvoorbeeld pas tien weken na de première van het eerste seizoen.

Ik vond het een toffe serie die gebukt ging onder scenes die er duidelijk meer in zaten om wat buzz te creëren op twitter dan dat het echt wat wist toe te voegen aan het verhaal. Mede door deze overbodige scenes komt de serie erg traag op gang en had ik aan het einde van het seizoen een beetje een "mja" gevoel hangen. Het hele seizoen was eigenlijk niets meer dan een groot introductie-festijn. Ik zou seizoen 2 sowieso gaan kijken maar dan moet het tempo wel omgegooid worden.quote:
Op Voor de rest een toffe cast die elkaar goed afwisselde met zeer degelijk acteerwerk (voor wat namen die ik eigenlijk nog nooit had zien voorbij komen), hoop toffe scenes, goede sfeer, de verschillende verhalen/culturen van de karakters waren wat mij betreft ook heel leuk gedaan.
Dus kernachtig samengevat: Meer focus op het verhaal, minder focus op het "kijk ons eens dingen durven" en deze serie komt helemaal goed. Absoluut geen klassieker, maar zeker een die ik met plezier volg.
Probleem was vooral dat deze serie het in Amerika niet zo bijzonder goed deed. Dat zie je vaak bij series die andere culturen/talen erin verwerken, op de een of andere manier hebben Amerikanen daar heel veel moeite mee. Om nog maar te zwijgen over de homo's en ombouwgevallen, want dat gaat natuurlijk helemaal te ver

Community has been canceled after six seasons. Star Joel McHale reported the show's demise in an interview with Metro Weekly.
“All of our contracts were up after six years,” he said. “All the actors on the show, almost without exception — their stock has risen significantly and it’s out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show. So you’re not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show.”
Despite McHale's comments, the fate of the show has yet to be determined by Sony, according to sources. Sony declined to comment.
