quote:
Q - What do you think could have happened that night?
A - Both the British and Portuguese police, and even the prosecutor, who has already changed his mind, thought the same. We talked about death by others, not murder. In the room, blood and cadaver odour was found just below a window where a sofa was. The father was talking to a friend just outside that window for a while. The girl was not a heavy sleeper, that's what the parents said. Perhaps she heard her father and climbed to the sofa below the window. But the parents, for the girl not to go out, moved it away from the wall. Madeleine could have fallen.
Q - The girl falls from the sofa, dies with the blow and the parents find her.
A - The mother. It is the mother who finds the girl dead.
Q - But I am trying to think out an idea. How can a mother who has just found her daughter dead on the floor decide to hide the corpse? And how do you hide the corpse of a girl of nearly four years old so that no one can find it?
A – This is what we were investigating when I was dismissed from the case. I want to recall that there is an Irish man who claimed to have seen Gerry McCann with a girl in his arms, on his way towards the beach that same night. That testimony has been hidden. The dogs specialised in finding traces of blood and odour of cadaver, found both on the wall of the apartment and in the boot of the car that the McCanns rented 23 days later.
Q - Did Gerry McCann bury his dead daughter on the beach and then unearth her and put her in the boot 23 days later?
A - We do not know. The Irish [witness] that I have told you about saw Gerry on television with a child in his arms arriving in the UK and stated that it was the same image they had seen back in May in Portugal. That man spent two days without sleeping when he realised what he had discovered, but nobody has talked about them. And what one of the Irish has said is logical, a man with a child in his arms toward the beach.
Q - But this implies that the whole group, the nine people who ate dinner that night, had agreed to lie.
A - All of them. Because, if you do not know, the British law regarding negligence and child welfare is very strict. They left their children alone in the apartments. In the UK, if you leave a child alone for half an hour, you lose custody. After Madeleine's death, if it had been made public that it was an accident, everyone could have lost custody.
Q - So you consider that one of the reasons for the parents and friends to have lied is because they feared losing their children's custody.
A - Yes, yes. Nobody has opened legal proceedings for what happened, for the negligence, and we have asked the British authorities why. Have they answered? Of course not.
Q – Let's go to the day of the disappearance. 17h30 is the last time that neutral witnesses saw Maddie alive. At 20h30, her parents sit down, composed, at the table for dinner with friends. In the middle, Gerry even plays tennis. Is there enough time for the girl to fall from the sofa, killing herself, for the parents to realise, to decide to conceal her, for the siblings to be sleeping, and for them to arrive undisturbed and sit at the table as if nothing had happened? Even more, for them to sit down at the table after having convinced the rest of the group that they mustn't report the death of the girl?
A - In those three hours there are inconsistencies between witnesses. Some said that the checks lasted half an hour, others said 30 seconds...
Q – It is obvious that they contradict each other, but did they have time to do everything you say they did?
A - Yes, of course they had time. Some say that Gerry had a strange behaviour at the table.
Q – Did they?
A – They said that he spoke too much, gesticulated a lot, quite the opposite from the previous days. For me this is a very real hypothesis.
Q - You have a long career as an investigator, years in which you have faced criminals and innocents. What do you see when facing the McCanns?
A - They are two persons with much fear. I do not know if they fear to be discovered or fear the police of an unknown country.
Q – It was said that Kate was very cold. But I've seen her cry.
A - So did I. She is not cold. There was a moment, in a meeting with them, when we set out the sofa theory. Kate put her head down, looking distant, and, after a few seconds, she looked up again as if nothing had happened. She looked like she was escaping from the role that she was interpreting.
Q - When you raised the hypothesis that the girl might have died after falling off the sofa, did Kate McCann answer?
A - She did not answer, she just dropped her head for a moment, as if she was about to faint. She had an emotional collapse that lasted just a moment.
Q - And Gerry McCann?
A – He is a very strong person, dominant. He's a surgeon, a man capable of making decisions very quickly. That was good for him to be able to decide over Madeleine. If you have to hide the body, you must decide quickly. And it could only be hidden on the beach, and you have to take her on foot. This is where the statements from the Irish witness is important, the one that no one has taken into account.
Q - What is your opinion?
A - To me, Gerry hid Madeleine's body on the beach. And after a few days he moved her with his car. We work following this lead. Trying to find out the date of the switch, some details, but we were on the way. The Irish [witness] was about to arrive in Portugal, but everything was delayed too much, he even received external pressures. In the end, he didn't testify for the Police.
Q – They [McCanns] have appeared in all the media to announce the disappearance of their daughter and if it ends up that they have done it, what are they, psychopaths?
A – No, they are human. If the McCanns admit that their daughter is dead, they can no longer collect money from the Maddie fund, and that's a lot of money, over one million pounds. That's why they say that the girl was abducted.
Q - What if they do not want to lose hope? It all seems very morbid.
A - It is. If they admit that she is dead they will lose their style of life. They are human, not psychopaths.
Q - You said that the girl was frozen.
A - For there to be vestiges in the boot of the car rented 23 days later, they must have preserved the corpse in some way. I believe that when they put it in the boot, with the heat of those days in the Algarve, a similar situation happened with that of shopping bags, which melt, and then the water is transferred to the car.
Q – Couldn't the traces be transferred from the room to the parents clothes and after to the car?
A - But if you have blood on your clothes it is because you've seen it [sic]. And the blood that the dogs found was washed blood, it was remains not clear spots.
Q - Neither you nor Alípio Ribeiro (former director of the Judicial Police), nor Olegário Souza (former police spokesman), are still on their posts. You have even pre-retired.
A - There were too many pressures. The McCanns have many contacts and nobody was interested in knowing the truth.
Q - Is it the British Empire against Portugal?
A - Yes, it seems so.

TRACES OF DNA IN THE CAR'S BOOT

The Scotland Yard dogs detected, in the boot of the car rented by the McCanns 23 days after the disappearance of the girl, traces of DNA which could belong to the girl; for the Portuguese Police more evidence, that Maddie was not abducted but that she died in the Ocean Club apartment.

Note: Mr Amaral does NOT actually describe Calpol as a 'sleeping pill'. It is El Mundo who describe it as such: Firstly, in the headline teaser and secondly, in brackets to describe to Spanish readers what Calpol is, after Mr Amaral has simply mentioned it by name.

Rondje Anorak.
quote:
Madeleine McCann: Buried On The Beach And The Our Maddie Metaphor
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann

DAILY MIRROR: “New slur on Madeline McCann’s father Gerry by shamed cop”

A new slur by Goncarlo Amaral? Remember that quoting his book could see the McCann’s lawyers called in. Can the Mirror repeat the slur and still look oh-so caring?

Shamed Portuguese detective Goncalo Amaral stooped to a new low last night - disgracefully claiming Gerry McCann buried daughter Madeleine on a beach the night she went missing.

Disgraceful. The scum. What did he say, just for interest’s sake..?

In his most sickening outburst yet, sacked Amaral said Gerry went back days later to move her body so the police would never find it.

What a complete swine. Did the McCanns’ dignify that with a reply? Surely not…

Says Clarence Mitchell: “Kate and Gerry are looking and watching at everything he does and will not hesitate to take legal action against him if he continues to act in this sickening manner.”

Not. The McCanns are innocent.

THE GUARDIAN: “Setanta are trying, England are very trying”

The England football team and trying. Indeed. And our Maddie?

Setanta’s boast that they are “The Only Place You Will See England in Belarus in October” is not buttering any parsnips

The irony is Setanta really does try harder. Its current coup has been to grab exclusive rights to England’s away qualifiers for the 2010 World cup. That is not exclusive like a Daily Express story about Madeleine McCann, but exclusive in the sense that Setanta has something nobody else does.

Madeleine McCann and the England football team. Now that’s entertainment

What ever de redenen, men kwam tot niets wegen ernstige tegenwerking.

According to the British media, the multimillionaire Brian Kennedy is ready to finance Kate and Gerry McCann for the rest of his life, putting at the couple's disposal the entirety of his personal fortune, estimated at more than £450 million." Bron So why is that Mister Brian Kennedy, the parents won't and don't really care...Why!
----------------------------------------------
quote:
Witnesses Heard by The PJ in the Maddie Case Were Sounded Out by the McCanns
McCanns searched for Witnesses
by Luís Maneta
The mediatic process was still under the secrecy of justice, Kate and Gerry had already been constituted as arguidos, but nonetheless Madeleine's parents did not stop having contacts with witnesses. Three of them told everything to the authorities.

During the period in which the process Maddie was kept under the secrecy of justice, the McCann family had knowledge of what several witnesses knew. Persons who were sounded out and questioned by detectives hired to discover the whereabouts of the English girl, or even by a millionaire friend of the couple, reported subsequently the fact to the authorities, as stated in the process made public last month.

Between the witnesses "searched" on the McCanns request is Charlotte Pennington, one of the Ocean Club nannies, and Martin Smith, an Irish tourist who swore to be convinced of having seen Gerry carrying a child on his arms, in the fateful night of the 3rd of May in which the English girl disappeared of the apartment rented by the family in Praia da Luz.

Another witness, Catriona Baker, an Ocean Club nanny who knew personally Madeleine McCann, was received at the home of Kate and Gerry in November of 2007; months before her giving a statement to the Leicester police, in the scope of the rogatory letters sent by the Portuguese authorities for the United Kingdom.

When cross-examined by the English police, in April of 2008, Catriona Baker revealed the existence of this meeting: “I visited the family at their home in the sequence of an invitation to see how everyone was”.

Millionaire spoke with witness

In the questioning, besides describing the routine of the children in the crèche where they spent a great part of the day, Catriona shows that, when she knew of Maddie's disappearance, she searched for her everywhere, following on foot all the routes that were familiar to her, from the area around the Tapas Bar to the beach. “I did not see Kate or Gerry on that night”, she guarantees.

In his turn, the Irish tourist Martin Smith said to the British authorities that he had been contacted by Brian Kennedy - one of the biggest financiers of the Madeleine McCann Fund - in a date that he did not specify. Brian Kennedy justified the initiative with the purpose of elaborating a visual rendering of the man that Martin Smith said to have seen, a little after 22h00, carrying a child near the Ocean Club.

Initially, Smith did not identify the person. But after returning England and having seen Gerry McCann with one of the twins on his arms he was “60-80 % sure” that it was the same person. Having suspicions, Smith, did not only help to do any sketches he also refused to give informations.

Charlotte Pennington also said to have been approached by initiative of the McCanns. In this case, the contact was done through a private investigator, Noel Hagan, who works for Metodo 3, one of the detectives' agencies hired by Maddie's parents. “Charlotte assured to me that she only told him the same informations that she had already given to the PJ and to me”, wrote the English police officer who spoke with the former Ocean Club nanny.
Cover of Madeleine's sticker book that was ripped off and used by Russell O'Brien to write down two timelines before the police arrived

Maddie's sticker book, front cover

Maddie's sticker book, with timeline on inside cover

Maddie's sticker book, with 2nd timeline on inside cover (dubbelklik voor details)

Maddie's sticker book, back cover

Madeleine's book

Madeleine's parents ripped off both covers, the front and the back, from a book belonging to Madeleine, in order to write on the inside the timing for each person. Russell O'Brien was involved with the drawing up of the timing. The book was seized by the GNR on the night of the disappearance. It is to be noted that the writing down of the timing on the inside of the book covers was done before the police arrived on the spot. These covers would be attached to the case file, as elements of the investigation, on September 7th 2007, although seized during the night of 3rd to 4th May. Here are the terms on which the seizure document was based.

Terms of seizure:

At this time, it is considered of interest to the investigation to attach to the present deed, two covers of a child's book, on the inside covers of which is a schedule for supervision, hand-written by one of the McCann couple's group of friends and participant in this deed by name of Russell O'Brien.

The McCanns never called Madeleine 'Maddie'?

Kate beweerd in het Expresso-interview: "Q – Aren’t youcurious to know what the book says? Kate – What for? It must be nothing but a load of rubbish. It is so secondary… It certainly won’t help to find our daughter. My consolation is that on the cover he calls her Maddie, the name that the media have invented. We never called her anything like that.

Oh nee??? Op mccannfiles heeft Nige wat speurwerk gedaan.

Gerry McCann
'April 2005- Back in Leicester and looking for a job. Now father of three with Sean and Amelie joing Maddie.' Gerry's Friends Reunited entry, April 2005 - entry updated May 2007 but 'Maddie' remained.

John McCann (Gerry's brother)
"They're much more positive about things that can be done to get Maddy back." Liverpool Daily Post, 10 May 2007 Link "Kate dressed Amelie in her sister's pyjamas and the baby said: 'Maddy's jammies. Where is Maddy?' Sydney Morning Herald, 15 May 2007 Link

Susan Healy (Kate's mother)
"This is a set-up. Maddie is Kate and Gerry's world. They would never do anything to harm her." Daily Mail, 08 September 2007 Link

Mark McQueen (Sean's godfather)
"We know Maddie very well. She is an adorable, glorious and funny three-year-old." Liverpool Confidential, 09 May 2007 Link

Charlotte Pennington (Ocean Club nanny)
"She didn't get the name, but she said it sounded something like 'Abbey, Gabby or Maddie'. We automatically went into lost-child procedure. In these situations, the first thing we do is investigate the scene. "We knew that one of the other nanny's charges was called Maddie." Daily Mail, 25 September 2007 Link

Dag 42 - 14/06/2007 (Bron): "Kate and I picked up a friend from Faro airport who has been instrumental in helping with the campaign. He has been fantastic, producing the DVD of Madeleine to ‘Don’t you forget about me’ which has been shown at many sporting events and concerts as well as producing the look for maddie logo and various posters."

In de verklaring van Russel O'brien: "His partner became pregnant around the same time as Gerry's wife. Mogguh all. Ik kan het zelf ook niet meer echt bijhouden, eigenlijk weten we al veel, vooral dat er niks klopt, dat er niks wordt gezegd en dat er een kind kwijt is, waarvan ik denk dat ze niet meer leeft en dat men er alles voor over heeft vooral niet te gaan zoeken, en het geld wordt uitgegeven aan intimidatie, verhaaltjes rondstrooien en reputaties worden beschermd. In a nutshell.

"Chief Supt Steve Heywood, head of Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) serious crime division, is among those who have been asked to provide a list of officers, while Mr Kennedy is said to have already met former Det Supt Andy Tattersall, who retired from the force last year." "Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for the McCanns, said: "Kate and Gerry McCann, the fund and its backers have always sought to employ or use the very best people and resources in the search for Madeleine. "If police expertise is potentially available anywhere, the fund and Gerry and Kate would naturally considering using it."

Pikant feitje, ex-copper Former police chief John Stalker van diezelfde Greater Manchester Police's meldt in oktober 2007: "Kate and Gerry McCann are hiding a "big secret" about the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine, according a former police chief claims." + "I have a real suspicion that we are not being told the whole truth. There is something else there, some issue that members of the party are embarrassed about?" Daily Mail

As Anorak told you yesterday, the Our Maddie hunt could, maybe, might, you never know, see ex-British police involved. Everyone’s an armchair detective… Or Cluedo.

The Find Madeleine Fund has asked for lists of retired or about-to-retire officers from forces across the country.

Beats playing golf… What do we know so far?

Madeleine was snatched while on holiday in Portugal just a few days before her fourth birthday last May.

And…?

DAILY MAIL: “Top UK detectives to join team of officers in search for missing Madeleine McCann”

Not so much top as retired…

Some of the UK’s most experienced detectives are being approached to form an elite team of officers in the search to find missing Madeleine McCann.

Ook lees je heel vaak dat no decisson were made yet, of varanten daarop.

The journalist from the first video essentially says what is covered in the article translated below. The second video explains what we have heard from Mr Grime previously and talks about the conclusions of the dogs findings, which can be read in the PJ's Final Report.

Given the repeated refusal of the British police to send different reports about the marriage, the Portuguese police drew up a profile searching throughout the McCanns second house, in Praia da Luz.

Thus, officers, accompanied by two police psychologists, conducted a meticulous search in the main bedroom.

In a case of abduction, the family circle is always investigated. The police were surprised on having seen the bedroom. Kate seems to be mourning. In her small bedside table are many photos of Maddy surrounded with rosaries and a Bible, which had bookmarked, with a picture a fragment of the Old Testament in which it could be read: "However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die". [2 Samuel 12:14]".

At the other side of the bed, on Gerry's bedside table the attention is given to, between other books, "The interpretation of Murder". In the study where Gerry writes his blog and where he works at the campaign to find his daughter, another surprise: CEOP manuals, books with access restricted to police and governmental entities.

Faced with this discovery, Mark Harrison, the British police officer brought from the United Kingdom to coordinate the case, finds it difficult to believe. He wonders how this married couple had access to these manuals, which are exclusively reserved for police officers.

The Portuguese Officers confirm, in this way, their suspicions about the contacts which have been provided to the McCanns, which, for them, is translated into huge political pressure that, in their judgment, limits the investigation.

Also, the police find numerous medicines, which they examine in search of the sedatives that they fear were given to the children by the McCanns on the night of the 3rd of May. They also register the side effects caused by the medicines that they find, and verify that the majority of them provoke sleepiness. They examine as well the drawers, closets, as well as the twins' room and that no longer sleep in cots but in beds.

The final report of the process, in contrast to the images included in the same report, state that independently of the curious and morbid conclusions, the only fact that one can determine, as such, is the disparate behaviour of the couple at the time of facing Madeleine's disappearance.

a) cadaver odour, detected by the dogs on clothes that belong to Kate, and on the pink soft toy

b) an English book, normally used by police, that focuses on the different types of crimes, as well as on what clues should be looked for to identify its perpetrators

c) a bible, on Kate’s bedside table, open at the Old Testament, at the passage that tells the death of King David’s son (God punished David with the death of his son, in order to force him away from sin and to return onto the path of good)

d) Kate’s diary, in which she writes about daily difficulties, in dealing with her children.

Amaral had gisteren in Spanje nog wat interessante informatie bij de presentatie van zijn boek The Truth Of The Lie, gelezen op mccannfiles:
quote:
Maddie Case: The former head of the investigation accuses Maddie's parents of hiding her body and simulating an abduction LaVanguardia.es

Amaral presents his book "Maddie: The Truth of the Lie" and maintains that the girl was killed by a "tragic accident" on the same day of her disappearance
10/09/2008 Updated at 14:12 pm
Madrid. (EFE) .- The Portuguese inspector, who ceased when he was leading the investigation into the disappearance of British child Madeleine McCann in the Algarve, Gonçalo Amaral, has argued that the McCann couple simulated abduction of the girl and hid her body.

At a press conference in which he presented his book "Maddie: The Truth of the Lie," Amaral explained that the conclusion of the investigation which he coordinated during the five months following the disappearance of the girl, on 3 May 2007, is that Madeleine died from a "tragic accident" that day.

"The girl is dead, where she is buried I do not know," said the former Portuguese chief inspector, and highlighted the testimony of an Irish family that on the night of the disappearance passed by a man who was carrying a girl in his arms and that later, when they saw his picture on television, identified him as Gerry McCann.

The former policeman criticised the archival of the "Maddie case" last July, when Kate and Gerry McCann were acquitted of their status as suspects by the Portuguese District Attorney's Office, but has warned that the discovery of "new evidence" could motivate the reopening of the investigation.

"There are many signs of her death," Amaral asserted, who has stressed that the Police dogs detected the smell of human blood and body "with a genetic profile consistent with that of Madeleine" behind a sofa in the apartment that the parents had rented in the Portuguese town of Praia da Luz.

Amaral also stressed that the McCann couple had acknowledged supplying a drug to their children, which they said was paracetamol, but this was identified as a sedative in the course of the investigations.

The night of the disappearance of her daughter, Kate McCann "put her hand in front of the noses of her other children, still asleep, to see if they were breathing," said the former policeman, who considered that "it is not normal that a mother should act like this after losing a daughter."

Amaral described the McCanns as "parents who have felt pain and anguish" and he has taken the view that it is "very difficult" for the couple - who have always maintained the hypothesis of an abduction - to "reverse" this, and adds: "Millions have been involved in looking for the child alive, how are you going to say that she is dead?".

The former inspector from the Judicial Police (Portuguese police investigation) has affirmed that he does not fear a lawsuit from the McCanns and, indeed, he considers that a lawsuit would be "an interesting way to reopen the case". In addition, Amaral pointed to political and diplomatic pressures that -in his judgment - led to his removal from command of the investigation in October 2007 and has ruled that "the British government intervened in some way".

The former policeman has assured that with his book, which has recognised as "controversial", he intended to restore his "good name" and contribute to the discovery of the true facts.

quote:
Tapas restaurant staff interviews on 04 May 2007
Jeremy Wilkins (short statement) and Tapas restaurant staff interviews on 04 May 2007

We are still on the day after Madeleine's disappearance, May 4th 2007. The next folder in the case file contains the statements of members of the "TAPAS" restaurant staff and statements volunteered by....

JEREMY WILKINS

Following various informal conversations related to the area of research, we were contacted by a British citizen named Jeremy Michael Wilkins, holder of passport no. 205...., owner of mobile phone no. +44788...., living in ....London. He spends his holidays at, "WATERSIDE GARDENS," block G, about 50 metres from the apartment where the small child was. He told us that yesterday, between 20h30 and 21h00, while he was in the "TAPAS" restaurant, he noted that a person of around 1.70m, with long blonde hair, apparently of the "Rasta," style and dressed in green military-style clothes, entered the restaurant. This person did not stay very long. His behaviour was somewhat strange and he seemed to be rather nervous. He was alone, he did not speak to anyone and left soon afterwards. The informant maintains that he has never seen this person in the village.

Note: The "TAPAS" bar is annexed to the restaurant where Madeleine's parents were dining during her alleged disappearance.

TAPAS

Today we went to the "TAPAS" restaurant, owned by the OCEAN CLUB in Praia da Luz, where we collected statements from several employees. The subject of the statements was focused on little Madeleine McCann's disappearance as well as the behaviour of people in the group who dined in the same restaurant and who come from the same country as the missing child and on a suspicious person with blonde, "Rasta," locks.

JERONIMO TOMAS RODRIGUES S.

Bar employee:

He saw the missing child, Madeleine McCann, for the last time, yesterday at around 16h45 at the restaurant. He didn't notice whether anyone from the group of British citizens - 8 or 9 in number - who dined at the restaurant yesterday (of which the child's parents were members) was absent during dinner.

He saw a, "walkie-talkie," placed on the group's table, which was being used to monitor children at a distance. He did not see anyone at all with blonde "Rasta," locks on the night he was working.

SVETLANA S. V.

Russian citizen - kitchen assistant:

She reports that yesterday, someone whom she believes to be the father of the missing child, left the table where he was dining with a group of friends (8 or 9 in number) for around 30 minutes. On his return, a woman, whom she believes to be the wife of the latter, left the table in her turn, and after a very short time, all the guests left the table with the exception of an older lady who told the informant's colleagues that the child had disappeared. During the whole time she was working, between 14h30 and 23h00, she didn't see anyone with blonde, "Rasta," locks.

MIGUEL S.C.

Cook:

He does not know the small child or her parents. All he knows is that they are part of a group of British citizens who usually dine at the "TAPAS". As he works in the kitchen, he rarely goes into the dining room. He saw nothing in particular. He didn't see anyone with blonde "Rasta" locks while he was working (14h30 - 23h00).

JOACQUIM JOSE M.B.

Dining room waiter:

Of the group of 8/9 British citizens who dined in the restaurant yesterday, as they usually do, a group which the missing child's parents are part of, he noticed that only two people, men, left the table.

The first to be away was around 40 to 45 years old (tall, slim, white, hair greying) and he left the table for around 15 minutes. He remembers this because he had to reheat his meal, which had gone cold. The second (around 40 to 45 years old, with similar characteristics to the first, but with less hair and thinner hair) was away for around 30 minutes.

Shortly after he returned, the whole group left the table, with the exception of an older person who told him that a child had disappeared. It was a daughter of a member of the group, and that's why he thought that the second person to be absent would have been the child's father. Sometimes when the group came to eat at the restaurant, someone from the group left to go to the apartments to check on the sleeping children. He didn't see anyone with blonde, "Rasta," locks during his hours of work. (16h00 - midnight).

JOELSON FABIO S. S. L.

Was contacted at another of the group's restaurants in the same area.

As he works in the office, he did not have a view of the dining room where the tables are, which is why he saw nothing.

He does not know the missing child or her parents.

He saw no one with blonde "Rasta" locks during his hours of work. (15h30 - 23h30).

RICARDO ALEXANDRE D. L. O.

On his day off today, he was contacted by telephone.

Dining room staff:

Of the group of 8/9 British citizens who dined yesterday, as they regularly do, which the parents of the missing child are part of, he noticed that one man was absent for around 15 minutes (Tall, average build, white, light brown hair). The informant states that it was usual for someone in the group to leave to go to check the apartments where the children were sleeping. At the table, he noted the presence of an intercom. He saw no one with blonde "Rasta" locks during his working hours. (16h00 -00h30)

MARIA MANUELA A. J.

Kitchen staff:

Seen as the latter was not at work during dinner yesterday, as well as at the of the child's disappearance, we have not recorded her statement.

SUSPECT WITH RASTA LOCKS

At the OCEAN CLUB reception, which is open 24 hours a day, the signatory to the present deed, may have observed a person with long, curly, blonde Rasta locks, in a green sweat shirt, corresponding to the description of the man with Rasta locks. The receptionist states that this person and his wife were guests of the hotel group and that he was untiring, since yesterday, in the search for the missing child. The signatory attaches, to the appendix of the present deed, a photocopy of their passports as well as the registration records of the complex.

Editor's note: the suspect with the "Rasta" locks and his wife are of British nationality. They are respectively 37 and 40 years old.

quote:
According to you, what happened on May 3, 2007?

Madeleine McCann died from accidentally falling behind the sofa in the living room of the apartment. That couch had been moved during the alleged disappearance. I think that someone discovered the body, concealed it, cleaned everything and pushed the sofa to the window.

Who?

The parents of Madeleine.

On what basis can you say that?

The dogs brought in by the British police discovered cadaver odour behind the sofa and in the bedroom of the parents of the girl. Also on the small child's toy, the clothes of Kate and in the trunk and the keys to the car that was rented later.

And how did they conceal the body without anyone seeing?

Yes they were seen! An Irish family saw a man pass by them with a child in his arms at 22.05, on the way to the beach. Later, the girl was identified as Maddie. But they did not realise that the man who they had seen was Gerry until they were following television and saw how the McCanns landed in the UK.

What happened?

The position in which Gerry held one of the twins and his way of walking were identical to those of the individual who they had seen that night.

But, 22.05 was when Kate said that the girl had disappeared and Gerry was with her…

The hours are unclear. The only thing certain is that the McCanns told the National Republican Guard at 22.40. So, before that, Gerry had had time to bury the body of the girl on the beach.

And nobody saw him there? During the night when they were already looking for the girl.

Yes, but they were looking for a girl alive, not a girl dead. In addition, I am not saying that the body remained on the beach all the time. Clearly, the first thing was to remove it from the apartment. Later they could find other solutions to hide it. Witnesses of the National Republican Guard said they had seen the McCanns directed onto the beach twice in the course of that morning. Surely they quickly found a better place.

How does it explain that the dogs found the smell of a corpse in the McCanns car?

They rented it 24 days after the disappearance. It was what was being investigated when I was removed from the case.

You believe that they conserved it in a freezer all that time? Where?

There is a journalist who says that he saw the McCanns enter a block of apartments close to the beach, in the month of June… But we do not know in which flat they were. It is a building for tourists and they passed many people.

And why is it the dogs did not detect the smell of a corpse on the clothes of Gerry McCann?

You know which clothes Gerry was wearing that night? I do not yet know it.

There is more information that is still missing?

We asked the English police for reports on the couple, if they had a nanny in the United Kingdom, if they had had some problems in their work... We never received those answers.

Why? Do you believe that the McCanns have high level connections?

I do not know. I do not want to comment on that, but it is curious how the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, showed his support to the couple even after they were declared arguidos.

International Madeleine McCann: And Eye For Denise Pipitone And Finding Rose Pizem
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann

DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found safe and well after four years’”

Italy has it’s own Maddie. Like Isreal? Are we working throught alphabet? If so, look out Jamaica…

Urgent DNA tests are being carried out on the eight year old girl found in Greece to see if she is Denise Pipitone, who vanished in 2004. She missing from outside her grandmother’s house while playing.

And?

News of the discovery will bring fresh hope to Gerry and Kate McCann after their daughter disappeared in Portugal last year, and for the parents of Ben Needham who vanished in 1991 from the same Greek island, Kos, where the Italian girl was found.

Like Our Maddie?

The DNA tests were ordered after Denise’s mother Piera, shown photographs of the girl found in Greece, said the “shape of the eyes was exactly that” of her daughter.

DAILY MIRROR: “DNA tests on ‘Italian Madeleine’”

Madeleine McCann has been missing since last May. A spokesman for her parents said: “If this is Denise then it will give Kate and Gerry immense strength and hope that Madeleine will be found.”

TIMES: “Missing girl Denise Pipitone ‘found begging’ after four-year search”

Greek police traced the Roma woman, 34, who was charged with abducting a minor. One police official said that the girl had the same birthmark under her left eye as Denise, and only spoke Italian. She is being kept under observation in the island’s hospital. The case is as well known in Italy as that of Madeleine McCann. Denise’s mother, Piera Maggio, has made repeated appeals on television for help in finding her.

Italians know of their own missing child as well as they do of Our Maddie?

DAILY MAIL: “Girl dubbed Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found alive and well’ four years after she vanished”

Denise’s mother Piera, who said the birthmark and the shape of the eyes were ‘exactly the same’ as her daughter’s. She added that there had been numerous false alarms in the past, so she would not allow herself to get her hopes up.

But the media can get your hopes up for you…

Last night the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘If these reports are true it is fantastic news for her family. But it would also give hope to Kate and Gerry because this is exactly the sort of situation that could prove that a child can go missing and be found safe and well.’

If…

THE SCOTSMAN: “Remains may be missing girl”

ISRAELI divers yesterday found a suitcase containing remains police believe belong to a missing girl whose grandfather is being held on suspicion of killing her.

The discovery in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon River marked a breakthrough in the case of four-year old Rose Pizem – missing since May. Her disappearance has transfixed Israel.

HA-ARETZ (Israel): “Until the next tragedy”

Faced with a suspect with a devilish face, an exciting and unusual family story, searches in the river - the Yarkon has never before raised such interest - and a murder without a body, we absolutely wallowed in this story. Oh, how we loved hearing the sexologist talk about the couple’s therapy the two lovers received, grandfather and mother forever. How we wanted to peek further and further into the “Israeli Madeleine McCann” family, which suddenly appeared in our lives; we invaded it with a mixture of voyeurism, gossip and a pinch, just a pinch, of real concern for the missing girl’s fate. Someone will make a film about it.

GREAT YARMOUTH MERCURY: “Visit church in cyberspace”

At 900 years old, a global opening ceremony for Great Yarmouth’s magnificent parish church might seem somewhat belated…

But in cyber world virtual people called avatars are teleporting into St Nicholas’ for a zoom around the vestry or even a stroll on the roof.

For the landmark building has been transported lock stock and wonky weather cock into the 3D virtual reality world of Second Life and now ranks among hundreds of real buildings turned into cartoon locations on the booming internet enterprise where 10m people from all over the world mingle.

Second Life…

Playboy has its own bunny-shaped island and British police have posted missing Madeleine McCann posters on virtual buildings.

Have you seen Madeleine McCann?

Hooi all. But DNA tests proved the girl was not Denise, but in fact the child of the woman arrested.
By jove, you're all disgusting, using other people's misery to put this stories in the newspapers, makng money, misusing all your contacts with other missing children organisations in different countries. By the way, this girl is called Denise Pipitone and not Italy's Madeleine McCann. Shame on you...

The Truth of the lie, bron > mccannfiles:

"The McCanns are parents who have lost their daughter, whom they loved very much and I understand their pain and anguish" hola.com

The former inspector from the Portuguese Policía Judiciaria presents "Maddie, the truth of the lie", an account of the most media covered investigation of recent times.

"Maddie, the truth of the lie". That is the title that Gonçalo Amaral, former inspector of the Policía Judiciaria and coordinator of the investigation into the "Madeleine case" during the first five months, has chosen in order to reveal how the search for the little Madeleine McCann, who disappeared on 3rd May 2007 from the Algarve, was carried out.

The text summarises the doubts, facts and the questions of an unprecedented investigation. 14 months after the disappearance all suspicion has been lifted from Kate and Gerry McCann, the child's parents, and the case has been filed, but little Madeleine is still missing.

Gonçalo is a tall and corpulent man, as we could imagine of a police officer who has worked against crime for more than 25 years and who, for the first five months bore the weight of the most media covered investigation of recent times, the disappearance of Maddie. Yesterday Gonçalo presented the book in Madrid, surrounded by a large media expectation and made room in his agenda to talk to Hola.com.

Q: The disappearance of Madeleine has been one of the most followed cases by the press throughout the world. Now you have decided to publish a book about the investigation, was there anything left to say?

I decided to write the book to defend our dignity. Part of the British press and even the McCann couple have defamed my name and that of the Policía Judiciaria in Portugal; I requested authorisation to speak but I never obtained it, that is why I decided to write the book.

Q: What relationship do you have with the McCann couple?

I was the head of the department investigating the case within the Policía Judiciaria in Portimao. I was responsible for organising the work of the investigation and ensuring that it continued on course, and therefore I was with the couple once or twice as well as with all the witnesses and with inspectors working on the case. I do not want to discuss publicly with the McCanns, they have lost a daughter. Neither I, nor the parents are of interest, the only victim here is the little girl.

Q: We are obliged to ask this question. Do you know what happened to Madeleine?

Madeleine died in the apartment on the night of the disappearance. It is complicated to be sure how she died because there are many indications. What is certain is that the girl woke up, the girl has disappeared and that behind the sofa there was cadaver odour and human blood.

Q: You state that the girl fell from the sofa, they found her and that her father took her to the beach.

Yes. There are witnesses who claim to be 80% sure that Madeleine's father was the person who was carrying a covered child towards the beach, in the apartment cadaver odour and the girl's blood were found as well as in a car rented 23 days later. In the apartment there was a sofa next to a window, at a aheight of three or four metres from street level and which did not close properly. The sofa appears to have been pushed towards the wall again, as can be seen by the photos. What could have happened? The girl woke up during the night, went to the window in order to look towards the restaurant where her parents were dining and could have fallen.

Q: The book says that the witness statements from the couple and their friends are contradictory. Is it not normal for there to be some confusion during these moments of tension?

There are contradictions that are not possible in material terms. For example, the mother speaks of an open window (when she discovered the little girl to be missing) and I wonder how it can be that the witnesses responsible for checking on the children, who passed by the window, at a distance of only two metres, and who entered Madeleine's room, said that they saw the window was closed. If events had occurred according to the first version, the window should already have been open. There are many contradictions that lack truth. If one reads a summary of the movements told by these persons, there are things that are not certain.

Q: How is it possible that the first examination of the site, carried out by the technical police, was not sufficiently rigorous in order to provide conclusive evidence?

Unfortunately this is something that can happen. The first police officers who went to the site thought of a possible abduction as well as theft, they did not find any door or window that had been forced, they searched for finger prints from people unrelated to the apartment and witness statements from people who could have seen something in the street. It did not occur to them that the parents could have had anything to do with the girl's disappearance.

Q: Did you think from the beginning that this was not an abduction?

It is not normal that someone should insist and be determined that this was an abduction without considering another option. When a child disappears, one thinks she could have escaped and many other hypotheses. And the contradictions from all of them, lead one to think that something totally different happened. We worked on the abduction theory for two or three months and then we began to think about the theory of death.

Q: The police continued maintaining the abduction theory after considering that the girl was dead. Why?

The parents spoke of the abduction as a necessity. There was no security for the children because if there had been Maddie would not have disappeared. And the abduction theory was dropped when it was proved that it could not be based upon the open window.

Q: In the book you state that even Kate, the young girl's mother, at one moment assumed the death of her daughter. Let's talk of this moment.

Yes. As is mentioned in the files, once the entire world had been upturned with the search for the child, Kate received a disturbing email from a woman who claimed to have powers. This woman said that she had had a premonition according to which, Madeleine's body was in a sewer in Praia da Luz. At that moment, Kate believed in the premonition and a search for the little girl was made. Kate began to act as though she were assuming that Madeleine had died; she even contracted a former South African Colonel who could locate the girl's body using a machine that searches for atoms. The man participated in the search, but without success. There were many psychics who wanted to contribute. However, at that time Kate returned to her thesis that the small girl had been abducted.

Q: More controversial evidence. The dogs detected cadaver and blood odour, but these conclusions were not admitted as official evidence. What credibility does dog tracking have in police investigations?

In England it has much legal value, as in the States, but not in Portugal. Its credibility has been undervalued, it has been said that dogs obey the trainer's voice. But they found cadaver odour and human blood that coincided with Madeleine's blood and although it was not admitted as material evidence, it did serve as information for the police.

Q: The consideration of Kate and Gerry as suspects was very controversial. However, in your book you say that the status of "arguido" brings with it the right to silence, or that of non self-incrimination, something advantageous for any person being interrogated. The press understood it as an attack.

They were considered "arguidos" on the moment when the evidence indicated that they could have committed a crime. "Arguido" is not the same status as "accused" in Spain, it is a status that provides the rights to defend oneself and remain silent, and often serves in order to exonerate them later. If one speaks as a witness, one is obliged to speak of everything that happened, and therefore there are things that could make you culpable.

Q: The media has played an important role in this case. Has all this media expectation helped to find the girl?

No. In my opinion, justice is done in silence. And with all this noise, it is very difficult. I say: who is interested in all this publicity? All the "sightings" of the girl around the world? Does this help to keep her alive? No, they would kill her. And the parents do not want their daughter to die, so why do they publicise the sightings? Because they know the girl is dead. Otherwise they would not do it.

Q: But, how can parents maintain the abduction theory of their small daughter, if they know what really happened to her?

It is a way of moving forward, of surviving. It is like a snowball that keeps growing in size. With everything that they have stirred, with the financial fund they created, how can they step backwards and say that she died? It is not a case of coldness but of survival. But the police investigation was also centred from the start on the principle that Maddie was alive. In effect, and all those sightings that were made public were not beneficial to the girl. If she were alive, and not dead as we think, what would all this publicity do to the girl?

Q: How did you experience the search for Maddie? Has this case affected you?

There have been some very difficult moments. My family has suffered much, my wife and my daughters… I kept them away from the press and concentrated on the case. In September, when school started, they left our city for Portimao in order to be closer to me but they had to go back. The press followed us and tried to find out where we lived. It is only now that it is known who they were, now that I have decided to publish the book.

Q: Can we learn anything from such a tragic case as the story of poor Maddie?

Unfortunately for the girl, her case has served as a case study. Before I left the police force, on 30th July of this year, a commission had already been set up in order to establish a better way of dealing with this kind of situation.

Q: You have entitled the book "The truth of the lie". What is the big lie in this story?

The truth of the lie is what we call the material truth, the pure truth. The truths are the analyses, the procedures and the mechanism that are covered in the case. The lie, or in other words, the lack of truth, is that the girl is alive. The girl is dead. The McCanns are parents who have lost a daughter whom they surely loved very much and I understand their pain and anguish.

Q: Do you believe that we will know what happened to Maddie one day? Will we get to know the truth?

Yes. There were 9 people in this Holiday Group. Maybe they do not know that the girl is dead, but they could have received instructions about what to say, such as "you went to the room and you saw the girl", however they know that this is not true. By that means the case could be re-opened; one day the full truth could be known.

Hier heeft Amaral het over: "I do not know, it probably had much to do with changing the British police. Whilst the family were in Portugal there was a colleague who supported the thesis of the death of the girl. Later when the couple left Portugal, he changed his line of argument returning to the thesis of abduction; and that change, from one to the other, could have been due to some political pressure because of the significance of the media event. The parents raised more than 2 million pounds to find the girl, do not forget that those dates coincided with the signing of the Treaty of Lisbon. Anyway, it is not understood, not only my retirement, but the filing of the proceedings." Gonçalo Amaral, police chief of the Madeleine case : "Justice is working in silence" Granada Digital

Lisardo García Friday, 12/09/2008 08:39

In the pages of his book 'Maddie. The truth of lie', the reader is confronted with mixed feelings: the agony of parents for their missing daughter and the stubborn quest of a policeman to know what happened that night of May 3rd 2007.

He has spent all his life in the Police; On May 3rd 2007 he was directing the Criminal Investigation Department in Portimao, a city on the Portuguese Algarve. Before 12 o'clock that night a phone call changed his life, he was notified of the disappearance of a 4-year old English girl in Lagos, in an urbanisation called Vila da Luz. He led the investigation for five months until October 2nd 2007 when he was removed without warning. Now comes to light a book which explains what happened: His truth.

GD .- Reading this book, reveals the strong personal and emotional impact that these events have had on you. Is that true?

Yes it is true, but this has nothing to do with any revenge; it answers to the need to respond to many accusations, to many slanders suffered, both personal and at corporate level. During the time I handled the investigation I always said: Justice is working in silence, but in the end I could do no more, I asked my superiors permission to respond to so many lies, but I was refused. I was forced to leave the police in July 2008, after the case was archived, and after 27 years in the Force, to have the freedom to express myself and restore my honour.

GD .- If Justice is working in silence, is this book a cry to have not stopped working?

If it is true, it is a way of saying that it is better to have honour without life, than life without honour.

THE ERRORS OF THE INVESTIGATION

GD .- Following the report of the disappearance, a police squad arrived at the scene. What went wrong?

I do not intend to blame any colleague, although the photo report left much to be desired, by not collecting any person in those photos, when there were a lot of people in the house that night, it would have been important to have that. There were also weaknesses in taking fingerprints. It was normal, we were a small police station without specialised personnel in an investigation of this nature.

Gonçalo Amaral says that Madeleine McCann died that night of May 3, by accident, that an abduction was simulated and that the corpse was hidden, the parents being suspected of this crime.

GD .- What were the most important facts and evidence which led to the parents of Maddie being declared arguidos (suspects)?

Fundamentally the reports from the DNA laboratory in England confirmed the work of the British police dogs who found a cadaver odour and biological traces of the girl in several rooms of the apartment, on the clothes of the mother and in the car that the McCanns rented twenty days after the disappearance of Maddie; another important test is the statement by the Irish family, Smith, who stated that they recognised the father Gerry McCann carrying a girl in his arms, who seemed to be asleep, at 23h00 that night.

GD .- Then, why did your place in the investigation cease and the case be provisionally dismissed recently?

I do not know, it probably had much to do with changing the British police. Anyway, it is not understood, not only my retirement, but the filing of the proceedings.

THE WORK OF THE INVESTIGATION AND THE MASS MEDIA

GD .- How do you remember the work of those days?

That it was very hard, working with a lot of pressure, especially from the media that had moved there; there was a huge television presence and an investigation requires a lot of discretion that unfortunately we did not have. I felt like I was kidnapped, we could not eat or go anywhere peacefully. In addition, it was not the only issue that we carried. That was hard, very hard.

GD .- How did you work then?

We sought out a place far away, where all the police officers could meet, it was the called the crisis cabinet, there we shared all the information and decided the steps to continue; it was an investigation of the team, not of a single person.

ON THE FUTURE

GD .- What will be the future of this case?

Right now the summary is closed, if new evidence or the Smith family were willing to testify in Portugal, maybe things would change. I hope that in time it will be the Judge who gives or removes reasons.

GD .- What now? What is your professional future?

I'm thinking of working in support tasks to law firms, preparing criminal reports; conduct investigations. That is my future that I hope will be interesting.

There are many journalists waiting to interview this former policeman; it is noted that he is tired and, at the same time, satisfied; having given his version, he has recomposed the puzzle, his puzzle. In the book's pages the reader will be faced with mixed feelings: the agony of parents for their missing daughter and the stubborn quest of a policeman to know what happened that night of May 3, 2007. The reader and time will have their say.

Gelezen op mccannfiles: "Policemen consider that Kate McCann's diary was made on purpose to influence the investigation into Maddie’s disappearance.Several police sources that are connected to the process told Rádio Clube that Kate’s diary does not look like an intimate portrait, as would be usual, and that it seems to have been made on purpose to be found by the authorities. The diary was not distributed to the journalists but Radio Clube had access to the writings of Kate McCann."

The Police went so far as to consider the hypothesis that the death of Madeleine had been caused by an overdose of sedatives. From Kate’s diary can be inferred her difficulties in controlling the child, "hyperactive" according to the mother. Kate’s father went so far as to speculate in public (albeit to deny it) with that possibility. It was also published that after the birth of the twins, Madeleine was subjected to treatment to control jealousy and the doctors prescribed tranquilizers. The track of the pills also faded away, although the twins slept like as angels in the presence of 40 people the night in question."

Madeleine McCann: Diary Of an Unconvincing Woman

The News of The World, a British newspaper universally regarded as a waste of a good tree, publishes a heart wrenching diary written by Kate McCann, the woman who along with her dual-persona husband made a conscious decision to leave three little children unattended while they went off for a night out with typical British lager louts abroad.

Kate, you go to great lengths describing how you close bedroom doors, how in the days after Madeleines alleged disappearance you spent time preparing yourself for interviews, receiving phone calls from Gordon Brown and talking to Tony Blair, meeting the Pope, going to amusement parks, jogging, walking on the beach - in fact you mention the beach quite a lot (as did the detective who was formerly head of the investigation, but you know that don't you Kate).

You also mention the rights of "a vulnerable, defenceless child?" Kate, I know this is a stupid question but if you feel so strongly about the rights of vulnerable, defenceless children (your own words) why did you repeatedly leave a three year old in charge of younger siblings?

In fact Kate, you mention a lot of activities - including picking up drunks and walking them home (with a comment "we've all been there"). However there is one activity you fail to mention in your carefully crafted but transparent self-protection exercise.

Searching for Madeleine.

Een poster aldaar schreef: "This is a great video on the dogs which contains a fair bit more information and more visuals than the 3 that have previously been posted. I am amazed that there have been so few comments.

Four things stood out above all the rest - for me at least:
1. Martin Grime makes it plain there was no need to put Eddie in the Scenic (cf what he says earlier in the video about the apartment).
2. Again from the mouth of Mr Grime, Eddie barks ONLY when he locates the odour of a human cadaver and at NOTHING else. Doesn't even bark at other dogs or strangers.
3. The close-ups of the clothing alerted to by Eddie dispels a lot of confusion I read in previous threads on here about exactly what red shirt and pants were involved.
4. There is a lot more footage of Eddie at work ignoring other parts of the apartment and it also shows he was not 'led on' as much as some would have us believe.

Madeleine McCann: Inside Kate McCann’s Diary, The Care Blairs And Algarve Paedos
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann

NEWS OF THE WORLD (front page): “Kate’s Diary”

Here’s the news you’ve been waiting for. Here are selected extracts from Kate McCanns’ diary that was leaked on July 28, 2008. It is now September and the NOTW has the, er, scoop.

“For the first time the heartbreaking TRUTH that destroys the lies of Portuguese police.”

Maddie… Maddie who? We’re watching the parents. If only the Cuddle Cat could talk - perhaps a tabloid writer could get inside the mind of the Cuddle Cat and tell us what really happened? It could be worth millions- like those diaries.

“PLEASE GOD IS SHE DEAD? - Read Kate McCann’s diary”

Isn’t it rude to read someone else’s diary? We don’t wish to pry…

Kate wrote: “I can’t bear being without Madeleine. It’s like torture— a slow painful death.”

Hearing the parents…

Kate’s log of the dark days after Madeleine vanished from their holiday flat reveals the true picture of the tortured woman behind the calm, brave face she had to portray in public, as initial disbelief and numbness gave way to desperation and rage. Often she includes touching messages of love to her missing daughter. It confirms the strength Kate drew from her devout Catholic faith—and frankly admits the doubts the trauma forced her to face.

And it’s entertaining, too…

But knowing what is about to befall them turns Kate’s simple account of the children’s evening bedtime routine into a tense drama…

Stay tuned…

THURSDAY, MAY 3: Milk and biscuits for the kids. I left them with this and books and games and went to have a quick shower/wash my hair. M (Madeleine) tired—sitting on my lap—I read the story of Mog (favourite children’s book).

Brush teeth. To the bedroom with the kids. M pulls away and puts her head on pillow. Kisses goodnight for M. Pulled the door to as far as possible without shutting it. Silence.

Dry hair. Put make-up on. Glass of wine. Restaurant.

(During dinner nearby with friends —dubbed the Tapas 7—the group took turns to check the children. At 10pm Kate discovers Madeleine gone. The McCanns and helpers frantically scour the area until 4am.)

Cue credits. Stay tuned…

FRIDAY, MAY 4: No sleep, Gerry and I started looking through the streets around 06.00 as it was starting to get light. Nobody around. Why not? Desperate.

Minutes seem like hours. Outside of the apartments masses of people asking questions about that night and for descriptions of Madeleine. Long day.

(Then Kate, Gerrry and their seven friends were taken to the Policia Judiciaria, or PJ, headquarters in nearby Portimao to give statements.)

Nobody from the police introduced themselves. Nobody offered us a drink or food. All the police dressed informally and smoking. No sympathy was shown and far from inspiring.

I believe my statement would have been around 15.00 and such. They allowed G (Gerry) to come in with me but seated behind me. Translator present.

The police officer who took us by car to the station was the one asking the questions and afterwards typed the answers on a typewriter. Morose.

We left the police station around 7.30pm to 8pm. After 15 minutes we received a call from the PJ saying we had to go back but they didn’t tell us why. We turned around and flew back at around 200 kilometres an hour. Once again frightening. Did they find her? Please God. Is she dead? Prayers. We arrived—they showed us a photo of a girl they’d forgotten to show us from the close circuit TV footage. Not M. Devastating.

It’s never Madeleine. Not yet. But still the media points fingers…

WEDNESDAY, MAY 23: Gordon Brown (then Chancellor and PM in waiting) called and spoke with Gerry -very kind and giving encouragement.

MAY 31: Two days later her diary recalls: “Pope Benedict XVI arrived in his “pope mobile” waving to everyone. It immediately became clear that he recognised us. He took hold of our hands and he was so gentle, so sincere.
“I thanked him for having allowed us to be there with him. He said he would pray for us and that he would continue to pray for Madeleine and for her safe return. I gave him the photo of Madeleine—he blessed it (with the thumb)—something that we would be able to keep for ever. A shy man but very friendly.

It’s the big news story, and people want in…

SUNDAY, JUNE 17: Cherie Blair (then the Premier’s wife) phoned to find out how we were…

I also had the chance to speak to Tony (then Prime Minister) who told me that we weren’t to hesitate to ask him if there was something he could do to help.

And what did they do?

SATURDAY, JUNE 2: I can’t remember today (which is now yesterday!). The morning was spent doing paperwork. I wrote a letter to JK Rowling, asking for her help in keeping M in the public eye. She has a new Harry Potter book which will come out in July. I asked if it would be possible to do something like a bookmark with M on.

Rowling did help with the reward. The big names wer massing around the big story…

SATURDAY, JUNE 2: Cried again in bed—I can’t avoid it. I need her close to me. Thinking about her fear of pain breaks my heart. Thinking about paedophiles makes me want to tear at my own skin. Of course these people, like psychopaths, aren’t “normal” human beings.I was never in favour of the death penalty, but these people should be kept in a secure place.

Paedos!

SUNDAY PEOPLE: “MADDIE COPS IN PAEDOS BUNGLE”

Paedos!

Furious British police threatened legal action against Portugal’s Madeleine McCann investigation cops in a row over paedophiles, The People can reveal.

Paedos!!!

Portuguese officers planned to name up to 80 British sex pests who were known to be in the country at the time the youngster went missing.

Why would they do that?

But Leicestershire force’s Detective Superintendent Stuart Prior blocked the move, claiming that naming registered sex offenders would do nothing to help the Maddie investigation - and could lead to vigilante attacks.

Yes, that sounds right and proper.

A legal source close to Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry, both 40, said yesterday: “There was a huge row between the British and Portuguese police which was finally settled out of court.”

So British and Portuguese police did liaise and agreed on certain things. How does this make the Portuguese bungling?

VENTURA COUNTY STAR: “Safety vs. independence Parents worry about kids traveling alone”

As a child, Debbie Veney Robinson rode city buses to school starting in the second grade. But this year, her 12-year-old daughter, Maya, is safely buckled in the car for the ride to eighth grade at a Catholic school.

Parents around the country are struggling to decide how their kids get to school — walk, ride a bike, take a bus or be driven by an adult — in a landscape they say has changed since they were kids.

Robinson, who lives in Washington, D.C., is among those who walked or rode public transportation when they were kids, but now drive their children to middle school or walk them to a bus stop half a block away.

“I do worry about children being abducted, because it happens,” Robinson said. “I think the best choice is to protect them as long as you can.”

And Our Maddie?

Many experts say parents’ fears of abduction are overblown, a result of intensive media coverage of cases like the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the British girl who vanished while on vacation with her parents in Portugal last year.

Madeleine McCann: spreading the fear
The Saga continuous....

Tot nu tot alleen het slot gelezen van die b*ll uit The News Of The Lies World, over het bezoek aan de paus: "Later on, Clarence (Foreign Office family liaison) told me that, before that (meeting the Pope), a butterfly had flown above and had landed on the bow on my hair."

He won't bark at other dogs, he won't bark at strangers, he won't bark when somebody knocks on the door or anything like that. So, again, I would say that is a positive indication.'

- Talking about Eddie after he had barked loudly, indicating cadaver odour, in the area behind the sofa in the McCanns holiday apartment

'The crime scene dog has actually given me what we call a 'passive indication', where she freezes, in this spot here, which would indicate to me that there is some human blood there.'

- Talking about Keela after she had given a 'passive indication' behind the same sofa that Eddie had indicated cadaver odour." Mcannfiles < staat nog een video op. Er komen nog meer video's op de site van Duarte levy, klik op translating.

Even van een andere orde, die dagboekfragmenten van Kate zijn nu gepubliceerd in een Belgische krant, ik had er moeite mee om ze te lezen, ikke ikke ikke, kijk maar:
quote:

In beslag genomen

M (Madeleine) was moe. (...)
Haar drogen.

Vrijdag 4 mei: Niet geslapen. Minuten lijken uren.

Alsjeblief, God, breng haar terug.

Zaterdag 2 juni: Opnieuw geweend in bed.

Dinsdag 17 juli: Ik maak me zorgen. Dat lijkt me verschrikkelijk.

"She confirmed that this happened part way through their holiday, on the night of May 2 last year, after she argued with her husband Gerry because he ignored her." Keeping de McCanns in the picture, you know, no matter what...

En Gerry McCann zit ook weer uit z'n nek te l*llen: 15.9.08
Gerry McCann: sniffer dogs are not reliable
Sniffer dogs have a high failure rate, according to Gerry McCann. In an interview with the Portuguese weekly Expresso, when asked to comment about Eddie and Keela searches at Praia da Luz, Gerry said that a study made in USA proved that those dogs were not reliable. Sniffer dogs were tested, according to Gerry McCann, with boxes containing vegetables, bones, garbage and some human remains. For 10 hours, four sets of boxes were left in ten rooms. After the boxes were removed, the dogs were called in and “failed in two thirds of the cases”, said the father of Madeleine McCann. Eddie and Keela handler, Martin Grimes, in a statement that is in the DVD files of the investigation of Madeleine’s disappearance, says that the dogs have been used in around 200 cases and never gave a “false alert”.

[..]

Verrassing! Bron Cadaver dog 'evidence' in Zapata case shown to be correct, 31 May 2008
Within a week of the McCanns being made arguidos and returning to the UK, their legal team had consulted the lawyers of an American man accused of murdering his estranged wife in a case where cadaver dog evidence was key.

The McCann's legal team requested the files on this case in order to discredit the reliability and effectiveness of cadaver dogs. Indeed, the judge ruled that the evidence that led to the charge could not be put before the jury. He said the dogs were too unreliable in detecting the odour of remains and noted that no remains were actually found. However, Eugene Zapata has now confessed to the crime. The cadaver dog was right. The report concerning Zapata's guilty plea can be viewed here. < Uit dit artikel: "Blanchard said because Jeanette Zapata's body was dumped in numerous Dumpsters at the landfill, there is no way to recover her remains."

quote:
The Expresso interview revisited by Gonçalo Amaral

“It is false, wrong, most of the replies are not true”
by: Hernâni Carvalho
Nobody is searching for Madeleine McCann anymore, but within the same week, an English newspaper revealed five minutes of the dogs’ work looking for Maddie, the McCanns spoke to ‘Expresso’ and Gonçalo Amaral spoke in an exclusive to ‘tvmais’. It doesn’t look like the same process anymore

The former PJ coordinator who directed the Maddie case, Gonçalo Amaral, is more accessible. He received ‘tvmais’ in his home in Portimão and he accepted to read the interview that the McCanns gave to ‘Expresso’ with us. He accepted to reply to the same questions, but he gave very different answers. “It is false, wrong, most of the replies are not true”, was what we heard him say most often. Concerning his relationship with the couple, he says they knew each other well. “They knew who I was and they knew what my functions were.” Gonçalo Amaral left a challenge for Maddie’s mother: “The lady should explain herself better. When she said that my personal behaviour was a disgrace, was she referring to me as a father?”.

Concerning the couple’s accusations, the former coordinator said very little. “I don’t know the McCanns’ concept of illicit enrichment. I wrote the book to defend my reputation, my dignity and that of all those who worked with me. I intend to continue to contribute to the discovery of the truth. Not everything one does in life is done for money. The statements from that couple seem to appear following an organized campaign of defamation that targeted me during and after the investigation. It will be interesting to discover who is actually responsible for that campaign.”

During the same week in which the McCanns spoke to ‘Expresso’, the PJ’s officer who was responsible for the Maddie case, Gonçalo Amaral, answered the same questions, in an exclusive for ‘tvmais’. The result could hardly be more different.

What impression did you get from the process? Were you shocked over its contents?
(The McCanns mentioned entire volumes of investigations about them.)
It is false. There were not those volumes about the McCanns that they mention in interviews.

Don’t you think that everything that was possible to do, was done? The investigation reached Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Morocco…
(The couple refers examples of what went wrong with the PJ in Morocco.)
It is false. The PJ never went to Morocco because of Maddie. The sightings were always treated by the local authorities.

If Madeleine had disappeared in England, would things have been different?
(Gerry says yes because the English police is more experienced in abductions.)
Why did the McCanns never want to present a formal complaint about the girl’s disappearance with the English authorities? They have the legal competence to receive the disappearance of any British subject! Maybe the couple would have to explain the circumstances under which the little girl disappeared… Why do the McCanns insist in hiring private detectives? And by the way, has the English police already found the girl that disappeared in England, on the same day as Maddie?

If you have an important clue concerning Madeleine’s whereabouts, will you transmit it to the Portuguese police?
(Gerry said that only when the couple feels that they cannot advance any further on their own.)
I don’t know whether they will do it. But in order not to feel alone, they should contact the English police…

Do you trust the Portuguese authorities, after having been considered suspects?
(Gerry explains that the couple was only investigated months after the disappearance and that once the suspicion is installed, they cannot prove their innocence.)
The McCanns never trusted the Portuguese police. That is the feeling that I have. And it seems that they don’t trust the English police, either.

Didn’t you find it strange that the dogs found traces of blood in your room and in your rental car…
(Gerry states that “No blood was found!”)
What is strange is the blood and the odour that were marked by the dogs in a car that was rented 23 days after the girl’s disappearance.

40 apartments were investigated and the dogs only marked yours. Ten cars and they only reacted to yours.
(Gerry states that the dogs failed a test in the USA.)
The dogs only marked locations and items that were used by the McCanns, which is an indicium that cannot be simply erased and which must be clarified.

Were you surprised when you were made arguidos?
(Gerry says that the media spent weeks saying that the McCanns were suspects)
They knew it already. When they were summoned, Mrs Kate reacted aggressively and screamed at the inspector who notified them. There is a detailed report of that in the process, written by the person who notified them. The worries that were expressed by Mrs Kate at that moment are very curious.

Do you investigate information that point towards Madeleine’s death?
(We want to find her alive, Kate stated.)
The McCanns were the first who gave a signal that the little girl could be dead. They hired a South-African expert who finds dead missing people and it was Mrs Kate who gave us an email that mentioned that the little girl was dead.

Do you still believe that she’s alive?
(Kate: “There are great possibilities that she is alive, isn’t it? There is nothing in the process to indicate that something bad has happened to her…”)
Maddie is dead. The Public Ministry went further and objectively mentioned homicide.

But there are no indicia that she has been abducted, either.
(Kate refers that Jane Tunner [sic] and the Smith couple saw a man with a little girl.)
The only indicia with credibility result from the depositions that were given by the Smith family. They speak about a man carrying an inanimate child on the way to the beach area.

The PJ discredits Jane Tanner’s testimony. They say that when she saw said man with the child, you [Gerry] were chatting nearby and it was impossible that you hadn’t seen him as well…
(Gerry says he didn’t see because his back was turned while he was chatting with a friend.)
Jane Tanner’s testimony has evolved in an inverse manner to human mentality. Initially, she had seen only a person at a distance. As time went by, she started remembering details in such a manner that at the end, she even remembered the texture of the clothing that the man and the little girl were wearing. That was how she pointed at Murat. The only deposition that is credible is the Smiths’.

Later on, that family stated that the man they saw was Gerry…
(Gerry says that he was at the restaurant at that time.)
The time at which the alarm of the disappearance was raised was never confirmed. The time that was reported by the Smiths always places Mr Gerry away from the dinner table. I know that the Smiths exist since the 16th of May, 2007. The McCanns probably do, as well. Why did they never wish to mention them in public. Whoever took the little girl on that evening did in fact cross ways with the Smiths.

Was it a coincidence that you were made arguidos on one day and returned home the next day?
(“The PJ knew about our return.”)
It was no coincidence. We knew about the couple’s departure since the day that the dogs started working.

Were you afraid of being arrested?
(Obviously… It was scary)
False. They always knew that the crimes that were at issue, according to the Portuguese law, would not give origin to a detention unless caught in flagrant. “Concealment of a cadaver and simulation of a crime”.

Being in England, you would not be extradited anymore.
(Gerry: “It was better not to be in Portugal at that point in time.”)
Theoretically, extradition is an instrument of international judiciary cooperation…

Why?
(Kate: “Because of the hostile environment.”)
They were made arguidos in order to have more rights. They used them well.

Why did Kate refuse to answer questions during your interrogation, that Gerry accepted to clarify the next day?
(Kate says she was advised by the lawyer not to reply, Gerry says he was advised as well but preferred to disobey.)
Wrong. The questioning was not the same. There were questions that were asked from Kate, to which only she could answer. Those questions remain unanswered until this day.

Why didn’t you authorize the police to see the messages that you sent and received on your mobile phone on the eve of Maddie’s disappearance.
(Gerry: “Nobody asked to see my messages.”)
False. The couple signed an authorization and a document was made with the reading of their telephones’ registry. When we read those registries, we detected calls that had been erased and other curiosities that were noted in the process files…

The chief inspector in the case, Tavares de Almeida, writes a report where he says that your friends lied to save you, that Maddie died in the living room, and that you hid the body.
(Gerry: “Ask the police why they saw us as suspects.”)
Wrong, just read the process.

The majority of crimes where the victims are children are committed by the parents.
(Gerry: “Not in the case of abducted children.”)
And even in abduction cases, very often, they are related to the parents.

...........................................................................................

The “Sun” newspaper reduced 3 hours into 5 minutes

The dogs that are trained to detect cadaver and human blood odour were proposed to carry out searches in Praia da Luz by the English policemen themselves. Expert Mark Harrison suggested the use of British dogs that are experts in detecting cadavers, in a report that he sent to the English police. The searches that Keela and Eddie carried out in Praia da Luz were taped on video. Tvmais has already accessed the three hours of images. British newspaper “Sun” reduced them into five minutes, changed the recording order and omitted parts of the dog handler’s explanations. Eddie and Keela are sniffer dogs of the springer spaniel breed, especially trained to detect cadaver and human blood odour. In the video, Eddie (that detects cadaver odour) can be seen in a garage where ten cars are parked. The dog runs towards the Renault Mégane [sic] that the McCanns rented 23 days after their daughter’s disappearance. Keela (trained to find blood traces) marked the boot of the same vehicle. In the same video, the dogs can be seen marking the McCanns’ apartment after searching in 40 apartments. Tvmais knows that these dogs have passed all the tests that they were subject to by the FBI, and that they never gave a single “false positive result”. According to expert Martin Grime, the dogs have not failed in over 200 searches that they have carried out until this day. Faced with the same tests, the FBI dogs did not complete one third of the tests. Keela and Eddie are protected by an insurance of 7.5 million euros each. English expert Martin Grime recently signed a millionaire contract with the FBI to work for American police. He has not left for the US yet, because the searches for cadavers in an English shelter are ongoing and the dogs are on location, fulfilling their mission to 100 percent.

............................................................................................

Truth or consequence?

When Gonçalo Amaral published “Maddie, the Truth about the Lie”, the McCanns’ spokesman announced that the couple would sue the former PJ investigation coordinator. Clarence Mitchell knew that he was bluffing. Any process against Gonçalo Amaral will allow him to reveal issues that were devalued within the Maddie process, during a trial. The devaluation prevented the process from reaching a court room. It would not be now that the couple would want some questions to get there. Furthermore, the McCanns continue to state that they have not read the book…

Once again, Mitchell bluffed.

Abduction, disappearance or death?

The FindMadeleine Fund was created on the presumption that the little girl disappeared because she was abducted. The fund started to receive money from members of the public who wanted to contribute to the ongoing search for the little girl. Several detectives were hired for that, despite the fact that the McCann couple never presented a complaint about the disappearance of Madeleine to the English authorities.

And they should, just like other British subjects did in the past. In order to search for Madeleine, among others, the detectives from agency Metodo 3 were hired, who promised to deliver the little girl on Christmas 2007. And Oakley International, which states that it employs former members of the FBI and from the British secret services. What is known from this agency’s work is the discovery that Mr Joaquim Agostinho, from Altura, in Monte Gordo, resembled the photofits? Tvmais has discovered that Oakley has presented 30.000 (?) euros during the fiscal year of 2007. Which seems to indicate that spies are on sale. But no. Just the two invoices that were written by these two agencies almost sank the FindMadeleine fund.

Some multimillionaires that used to contribute to pay for the detectives (Brian Kennedy, for example) stopped doing so. The fund that was founded to search for a missing girl, will presumably end as soon as someone proves that the little girl is dead. At least that is what the British law foresees. Until then, the search for the girl continues. The McCanns received a compensation of over 500.000 euros from the British newspapers. With a little more money that the FindMadeleine fund may still hold, the search will continue. Maybe at more modest prices.

Police to consider releasing Madeleine information
16/09/2008 - 14:28:10

British police will consider whether it is in the public interest to release information about their involvement in the Madeleine McCann inquiry, officials said today.

A number of media organisations made requests under the Freedom of Information Act for details about their role in the investigation.

But Leicestershire Constabulary, which led the British side of the investigation for their Portuguese counterparts, said it must apply the ’public interest test’ before agreeing to disclosure.

In a written response, Linda Dempsey, of the force’s data protection department, said: “An initial meeting has now been held and from this we are still in the process of preparing the Public Interest Test regarding the intended response.

“It will be necessary to consult with other agencies to assist in this matter in order for us to give the due consideration that must be given to such a high profile case and the need to balance the needs for disclosure or not.

“It is clearly mandated in the Secretary of State’s code of practice part IV that this consultation should take place.”

Anti-paedo laws are coming into force:

Yes, suspected

The year-long projects will be run in Warwickshire, Cambridgeshire, Cleveland and Hampshire. The move comes after a campaign for a US-style “Megan’s law” - but the scheme falls short of a “right to know”.
