Volgens Variety hoopt men bij Sony hetzelfde succesduo, regisseur Ron Howard en hoofdacteur Tom Hanks, te strikken. Sony had destijds de filmrechten van beide romans gekocht.
Dat was wel te verwachten hè?

Lukt nooit. Er gebeuren veel te veel dingen voor een film van anderhalf/twee uur. Net als bij The Da Vinci Code waarbij het veel meer een standaard achtervolgings verhaaltje werd ipv. de spanning van het kraken van de codes net als in het boek. Een miniserie of iets dergelijks zou veel beter zijn.

What could've been dismissed as Net rumour was picked up and confirmed by the trade papers a few days later. Now, the original source for the story has come back with a number - $35 million.
Yep, that's right - not just $35 million upfront, easily nabbing the record for highest paid actor, but a big piece of the back end too. That means as much as 25% of domestic ticket sales - another $15 million should the film do as well as 'Da Vinci'.

geweldig boek, al was het einde erg ongeloofwaardig allemaal... maar desalniettemin erg vermakelijk. Hoop wel dat het een betere film wordt als de Da Vinci Code, dat was een slap aftreksel van het boek

Based on the Dan Brown novel, "Angels" sees Hanks reprising his role as symbologist professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by the most powerful underground organization in history, the Illuminati, to wipe out Vatican City in a massive explosion during a papal conclave.
McGregor will play Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, also known as Janus, the late pope's closest aide who initially helps Langdon in the investigation. During a conclave (which can go for hours or days), the camerlengo is a young impartial priest who serves as the 'defacto pope' whilst the cardinals are locked in St. Peter's Basilica to decide the next Pope.

Filming has begun on "Angels and Demons", Sony Pictrues follow-up to "The Da Vinci Code", and the first set pics have gone online at la Repubblica.
Based on the Dan Brown novel, the film has Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) teaming with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra on a frantic race against the clock to stop both a bomb obliterating Vatican City during a papal enclave, and an assassin systematically wiping out the four favourite candidates for the new Pope.
The trip takes them through Rome's sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and the most secretive vault on earth... the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.
The good news is that Hanks does not have that often complained about long haircut from 'Da Vinci', instead opting for a slightly longer than usual but neatly trimmed short hairstyle.

Based on the Dan Brown novel, the film has Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) teaming with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra on a frantic race against the clock to stop both a bomb obliterating Vatican City during a papal enclave, and an assassin systematically wiping out the four favourite candidates for the new Pope.
The trip takes them through Rome's sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals and the most secretive vault on earth... the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.
The good news is that Hanks does not have that often complained about long haircut from 'Da Vinci', instead opting for a slightly longer than usual but neatly trimmed short hairstyle.

Dit is toch wel een film die ik toch weer ga kijken, ook al ben ik niet onder de indruk van The Da Vinci Code.
