Nu wordt er door alle partijen van alles geroepen, maar cijfers liegen niet. In het algemeen kan hieruit toch geconcludeerd worden dat het hele nation building na de invasie één grote mislukking is geweest, en daarmee de hele oorlog in Irak zelf. Wanneer de VS hun exit-strategie nu zouden uitvoeren zou de enige conclusie kunnen zijn dat ze de oorlog verloren hebben, en met de staart tussen de benen vertrekken.
