Aantal geruchten in 1 artikel.quote:Chelsea to tie up Kaladze deal
Paolo Menicucci in Milan
Tuesday June 7, 2005
The Guardian
The Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon will fly to Milan tomorrow to meet AC and Internazionale over the futures of Hernán Crespo and Juan Sebastián Verón, according to both Italian clubs yesterday.
Kenyon's day in Italy should start in Via Turati, the Rossoneri headquarters. Milan are confident they can sign the on-loan Crespo on a permanent basis in a deal which will take the Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze to Stamford Bridge on a five-year contract.
Article continues
"I'm optimistic we will find an agreement," said the Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani. Chelsea bought Crespo from Inter in 2003 for a fee of £16.8m but Milan will propose Kaladze plus £2m in exchange.
Chelsea have also been pursuing Athletic Bilbao's Asier del Horno as an alternative to Kaladze for the left-back berth.
Meanwhile, Italian newspapers reported that Chelsea will try to convince Milan to sell either Andriy Shevchenko or Kaka during the talks for the Argentina striker.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea will tempt Milan with a £40m offer for the Ukrainian striker or the Brazilian playmaker, but Milan reacted by discounting the speculation.
"When Roman Abramovich asked us last year about Andriy Shevchenko, we had to tell him gently to forget it. We have a very good relationship with Chelsea but should they ask for players like Shevchenko and Kaka the answer would be the same again," Galliani said.
After the meeting with Milan, Kenyon is expected to call in at Inter's headquarters in Via Durini and start negotiations over Verón. The Argentina international wants to stay at San Siro and Inter will try to extend his loan for another season while offering to cover his entire £3.2m salary for the new campaign instead of half of it as they did last season.
Chelsea, however, having signed Verón from Manchester United for £15m in 2003, are expected to ask for a fee to sell the player on a permanent basis. "I hope Inter will be my last European team before returning to Argentina," Verón said.
During the meeting Inter are expected to bid for the Brazil defender Alex, who spent last season at PSV Eindhoven but whose registration, it is believed, is ultimately controlled by Chelsea.
Kenyon could also ask Inter about the availability of the Brazil striker Adriano, Chelsea's main target according to reports from Italy. Adriano arrived at Inter from Flamengo for £3.5m in 2001.
quote:United make Park move
Tuesday 07 Jun 2005
PSV Eindhoven have confirmed that Manchester United have made an official approach for midfielder Park Ji-Sung .
The 24-year-old South Korea international has spent the last two years with PSV and helped the Dutch side reach the semi-finals of this season's Champions League and clinch the domestic league title.
PSV spokesman Pedro Salazar-Hewitt has said the club does not want to lose the midfielder but is aware of United's interest.
He told the Daily Mail: "The only person who will decide his future is Park.
"We want to keep him, as we want to keep all our best players, but we know the system and we know that if another club make an official offer it's a possibility we will lose the player.
"United have officially asked about Park and the player has been informed."
United have already agreed a fee with Fulham for Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The 34-year-old is expected to complete his move to Old Trafford when he returns from international duty with Holland this week, but is already looking forward to a new challenge.
"They've tried a lot of keepers and I will perform the best that I can," he said.
"I'll do my best to get halfway to what Peter (Schmeichel) achieved at Old Trafford.
"The next few years will be great for me and I hope to bring United back to where they belong.
"Maybe, with a couple more adjustments in the team, we will be fully ready for Chelsea."
