Kuffour pines for Gunners move
GERMANY Bundesliga, Sunday March 06 2005
Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour is hoping to secure a move to England in the summer, with Arsenal his preferred destination.
The Ghanaian international looked certain to join Newcastle during the January transfer window, but Toon boss Graeme Souness eventually opted for Jean-Alain Boumsong from Rangers instead.
Nonetheless, Kuffour is keen to fulfil his dream of Premiership football and says Arsenal are his first choice.
"I've been here a long time and its time now for a change," he told Sky Sports News. "I will definitely leave here in the summer, whether i go to Italy or England I'm not sure yet.
"I'm proud to be one of the African players who have been playing for such a good club for so long, but I now want to experience new things and a new way of life.
"My wife grew up in London and we have family and friends there - when I go there I feel good. It would be a pleasure for me to live there, and play for Arsenal.
"Arsenal are one of the best teams around and they have great players and a great manager. To play for them would really suit me well."
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a new defender given his side's struggles at the back this season and could do much worse than moving for the 28-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer.
