Wordt aan het eind van het jaar weer een lange lijst met DBP'ers (dode bekende personen). Herman, Sylvia en nu deze dame...

Toch merk je dat vaker. Zomaar ineens gaan er een paar bekenden achter elkaar dood en dan horen je heel lang niets meer... Frappant?

En als actrice deed ze het ook niet onaardig.

Echt zonde...

Oh, ik zie hier ook wel een beetje het over de doden niets dan goeds syndroom. Ik vond namenlijk niet echt dat ze met kop en schouders boven de rest uitstak. Maar goed, ik ben dan ook geen kenner. En ik vond Romeo must die ook niet zo'n geweldige film eerlijk gezegd.

Tragic pop star Aaliyah's Bahamas trip was so disorganized, it was "an accident waiting to happen," a Florida cargo operator told The Post yesterday.
Eddie Golson - whose company flew Aaliyah's video and lighting equipment, as well as some technicians, to Treasure Cay - said the problems began at Miami's Opa-locka Airport last week.

The arrangements to use his firm, Pro-Flight Cargo, were made by a company called Atlantic Flight Group.

An Atlantic employee, Golson said, wanted to carry the equipment for Aaliyah's video shoot right onto the plane.

"They started arguing with me, and I told them, ‘If you don't do it my way and weigh the cargo, take your business elsewhere,'" Golson said.

He claimed he was told there was one load, weighing 6,000 pounds.

"But when the cargo was put on the scales, it was almost 15,000 pounds," he said. "And the [video] crew was in a big, big hurry.

"We wound up having to take three planes over to the Bahamas instead of one - two DC-3s and a Cessna Caravan."

Atlantic's manager, Michael Keister, said he could not comment on the allegations on advice of his lawyers, but promised to cooperate with investigators.

The 22-year-old singer - who flew to the Bahamas Thursday on a Fairchild Metroliner provided by Sky Limo Charter Service - was scheduled to leave on Saturday, also on a Metroliner.

Tom Conlan - who owns Sky Limo - said he got a call that they were running behind schedule and asking him to cancel the return flight.

But unfortunately, "they did manage to finish the video later Saturday," he said.

"Aaliyah and some of the others were in a hurry to get back, and they chartered the other, smaller Cessna 402B."

Aaliyah, sources said, had been especially anxious to get back to New York.

The Cessna crashed right after taking off. There were reports that one of its engines failed and that the pilot complained about the weight of the video equipment taken aboard.

Golson said the problems with the cargo flights to the Bahamas were harbingers of the tragedy to come.

"Things went so awry, the first plane off landed at the wrong island," Golson said.

"The pilot landed, and one of Aaliyah's people jumped out of the plane at North Eleuthera Island and told him: ‘Hey, we landed at the wrong place,'" Golson said.

Her crew then called Miami, and the second plane was diverted to Treasure Cay, he said.

Golson said the group appeared to suffer from what he called a frantic case of "Get-There-Itis."

"It was an accident waiting to happen," he said.

Meanwhile, the body of the R&B star was put onto a private jet and flown to Newark Airport last night.

More than 100 people crowded outside a Nassau funeral home as Aaliyah's body was lifted into a hearse for the ride to the airport.

Shani Holland, a 13-year-old fan, said, "She just stood for women everywhere. She was so pretty, and she had a beautiful voice."

The police officer searched the car, found pieces of crack cocaine and booked Morales on a felony cocaine-possession charge, as well as charges of driving with a suspended license and running a stop sign, records show. Morales told the arresting officer he was in the area to purchase powder cocaine for a friend, according to the arrest report.

On August 13, Morales entered a no-contest plea to the possession charge, as well as to a November charge of possessing stolen property, records show. He was given three years' probation, and the judge did not enter a decision on the condition that Morales successfully complete the probation, which included mandatory drug tests, according to the Broward County clerk of courts.

Morales' no-contest plea meant that his pilot's license should have been revoked under Federal Aviation Administration rules, according to FAA spokesperson Kathleen Bergen. While Morales' license hadn't been revoked yet, he was not authorized to fly the plane, which was operated by Blackhawk International Airways, according to Bergen.

Blackhawk is cleared to fly charter planes under a "single pilot certificate," meaning that only one pilot was authorized to fly the plane that crashed, Bergen said. Such certificates are common for small air taxi services like Blackhawk, which only has two planes, she said.

Though she did not identify the authorized pilot, Bergen said it was not Morales. Morales' license qualified him to fly Cessna 402B planes, but he was not on Blackhawk's certificate. Bergen said "it would not be appropriate" for the FAA to release the name of the authorized pilot.

While Blackhawk International is on record as the plane's operator, a company named Skystream is listed as the plane's owner, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Both companies list the same Pembroke Pines, Florida, address as their headquarters. Calls to Blackhawk were not returned, and no phone number was available for Skystream.

U.S. and Bahamian authorities are still investigating reports that engine failure and overloading contributed to the crash (see "Aaliyah Plane Crash Investigation: No End In Sight").
