Iran heeft gewacht met vergelding om de Amerikaanse verkiezingen niet te beïnvloeden en om een eventueel respons van de winnaar in te kunnen calculeren in hun vergeldingsaanval. De verkiezingen zijn voorbij, niet met het gewenste resultaat wat Iran betreft. Israel heeft er ook op ingespeeld. De pro-Democratische partij minister van defensie Gallant is vervangen door een hulpje van Bibi, Israel Katz.
Alle ingrediënten zijn bekend, maar de aanval blijft uit. Worden er tussen Iran en Trumps team onderhandelingen gevoerd? Heeft Israël nu een troef in handen die Iran genoeg afschrikt?

Een all-out war zie ik niet gebeuren. Israel heeft na een jaar Gaza niet onder controle gekregen en bevindt zich in Libanon na ruim 1 maand vechten op 2-3 kilometer van eigen grenzen. Aanvallen op Iraanse kritieke infrastructuur en de gevolgen daarvan zullen een groot effect hebben op de olieprijs. Daar is China, en een aanzienlijk deel van de wereld, absoluut niet bij gebaat.

Israël is aanzienlijk kwetsbaarder in een 1 on 1 gevecht. Maar een 1 op 1 gevecht is niet realistisch. Tevens beschikt Israël over kernwapens.
