According to a U.K. Defense Ministry intelligence report on Aug. 23, just 5,000 Wagner troops are currently deployed in Africa and Belarus, a fraction compared to its peak of 50,000 in 2023.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry warned on Aug. 25 that Belarus is "concentrating a significant number" of weaponry and personnel at the border with Ukraine, including some former Wagner troops.

Minsk is Moscow's closest ally and hosts Russian troops and missiles, but is not currently directly involved in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Waarom Kursk wel relevant is:
- 2000-3000 krijgsgevangenen waarvan een groot deel dienstplichtigen en tiktok soldaten zijn.
- Gezichtsverlies voor Putin inderdaad, en voor het hele Kremlin. Je kan dit ook aan de beelden van Putin zien. Die zit niet lekker in zijn vel op het ogenblik.
- Bijna evenveel grondgebied ingenomen als Rusland in 2023 en 2024 bij elkaar
- Rusland in paniek, wat je ook kan zien aan andere delen van het front, bij elke scheet vanuit Oekraïne wordt de paniek groter.
- Soldaten en materieel vanaf andere delen van het front naar Kursk
- Rusland moet opeens zijn hele grens met Oekraïne gaan beveiligen, waar zij gewoon de troepen en het materieel niet voor hebben. Tenzij zij een algehele mobilisatie gaan beginnen.
- Treinverkeer in problemen door heel Rusland heen
- Bevoorrading Belgorod in het geding
- Oekraine kan eindelijk eens aanvallen in plaats van alleen maar verdedigen. Zij zijn tenslotte al iets van een jaar alleen maar aan het verdedigen. Waarvoor een groot aantal troepen gewoon niet gemaakt zijn.
- Grote morele opkikker van troepen aan andere delen van het front voor Oekraine.
- Het is een soort van vakantie voor de troepen die nu in Kursk vechten. Daar het veel minder intensief is dan aan de Pokrovsk front bijvoorbeeld.
- Alles wat in kursk uitgeschakeld wordt kan niet ergens anders ingezet worden.

Er zijn vast nog wel andere argumenten te bedenken waarom het wel relevant is.
