Ik dacht dat ze de batterij lieten exploderen. Maar dat is blijkbaar niet zo, dus geen gevaar dat hackers het kunnen gebruiken.quote:

Dit kan toch gewoon bijna niet waar zijnquote:Vele, vele leden van de Libanese Hezbollah-militie zijn dinsdag gewond geraakt toen hun piepers en ander communicatiemateriaal zoals walkietalkies tegelijk ontploften. Dat melden bronnen binnen de beweging. De Libanese minister van Volksgezondheid Firas Abiad zegt tegen AFP dat het zelfs om 'honderden gewonden' gaat. Bronnen binnen Libanese veiligheidsdiensten spreken volgens Reuters zelfs over 'meer dan duizend' gewonden.
De ontploffingen zouden zich voorgedaan hebben in een zuidelijke buitenwijk van hoofdstad Beiroet, traditioneel een bolwerk van Hezbollah, en ook in het zuiden van het land. De verschillende communicatiemiddelen zouden zo'n beetje gelijktijdig zijn ontploft. Een andere bron nabij Hezbollah zei tegen AFP dat het om 'Israëlische piraterij' gaat. Reuters meldt dat de piepers nieuw waren en de laatste maanden door Hezbollah waren ingevoerd. Israël heeft overigens nog niet gereageerd op het incident.
De detonatie van de toestellen is, volgens de bron van Reuters, 'de grootste veiligheidsinbreuk' die de groep heeft moeten ondergaan sinds de start van de oorlog met Israël bijna een jaar geleden.
Een Reuters-journalist zegt in de zuidelijke buitenwijken van Libanon vele ambulances gezien te hebben en meldt dat er sprake is van grote paniek in de stad. Volgens bewoners deden zich dertig minuten na de eerste ontploffingen nog nieuwe ontploffingen voor. Ziekenhuizen roepen op om bloed te doneren.
Hezbollah heeft zijn leden gevraagd geen gsm's meer te gebruiken, om te vermijden dat Israël hen zou hacken. In de plaats kwam een systeem met piepers waarmee leden worden opgeroepen zich bij hun eenheden te voegen. Het ministerie van Gezondheid van Libanon heeft alle burgers 'die draadloze communicatiemiddelen hebben opgeroepen ervan weg te blijven tot duidelijk is wat aan het gebeuren is'.
