Ukraine downs 30 Russian attack drones overnight Tue
In the early hours of Tuesday, August 13, Ukraine’s Defense Forces intercepted 30 of the 38 Shahed-type kamikaze drones launched by Russia.

The Russians attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, launched from Voronezh region, and 38 Shahed-type UAVs from Primorsk-Akhtarsk and Kursk regions.

As a result of the air defense effort, mobile fire groups, aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, and e-warfare operators intercepted 30 enemy UAVs over Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Kirovohrad, Kherson, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, an air raid alert went off in a number of regions of Ukraine overnight Tuesday as Russian drones were spotted in the Ukrainian airspace.

For communication with Russia’s military intelligence the perpetrator would use one of the chat messengers involving a liaison – a soldier from the Russian occupation force fighting in Ukraine’s east.

Counterintelligence operatives exposed and detained the informant during a raid.

At the same time, comprehensive measures were taken to secure Ukraine’s Army positions.

The culprit has been charged with unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement or locations of army units.

The court ruled to remand the suspect in custody. She faces up to eight years in prison.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, a Ukrainian man recruited by Russian intelligence, who is believed to have been tipping the enemy on precise firing positions of Ukraine’s artillery has been sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment.

“The world is watching. From the beginning. The world is watching Ukraine, but also the United States. China is watching. Iran is watching. All our authoritarian enemies are watching.”

He also noted the economic potential of Ukraine’s rare mineral deposits, including lithium and titanium. Currently, much of the global manufacturing depends on China for these resources.

“Let's leverage Ukraine's resources; Ukraine has the potential to become an economic power, as well as a military power,” the senator added.

“Ukraine has the potential to be our strongest ally in NATO, and that's why we should provide a path forward and, hopefully, an invitation from NATO.”

"But make no mistake about it: This is Putin's war against Russia. And if he doesn't like it, if it's making him a little uncomfortable, then there's an easy solution: He can just get the hell out of Ukraine and call it a day."
