Although most of the local election results rolled in yesterday, there are still several results to come today. Of the 107 councils up for grabs, 102 have so far declared their results in these local elections.
We can expect results from four councils today:
Epping Forest
North Tyneside
Stroud
Warrington
According to PA, it’s likely that results will be declared about 4pm. We’ll have to wait until Sunday for the final council to declare: Salford.
We’re also expecting the results of seven of the 11 mayoral races:
Liverpool City Region (12pm)
South Yorkshire (2pm)
West Midlands (3pm)
West Yorkshire (3.15pm)
Greater Manchester (4pm)
Salford (5pm)
The official London mayoral declaration time is TBC but the picture should become clear about 1.30pm.

There was also a win for Khan in the City and East constituency, which was announced earlier. The results there were:

Susan Hall – 38,626
With all the results in, Khan officially wins the London mayoral race.

Starmer vindt het maar wat moeilijk om stemmen te winnen door de kiezer aan te spreken, maar ze claimen (“where else are you gonna go?”, “het is jullie schuld dat het VK verdeeld is, verenig je tot grotere glorie van Labour”) is geen enkel probleem. Ook de “een stem niet voor ons is een stem voor de Tories”, alhoewel mogelijk waar afhankelijk van de lokatie en dankzij de democratieverstorende effecten van FPTP, is eerder een recept voor apathie dan enthousiasme.
De afgelopen tussentijdse verkiezingen (en de verschillen tussen tussentijdse en algemene verkiezingen in het VK zijn gigantisch) suggereren wat velen al dachten: de kiezer is helemaal klaar met de Tories, maar loopt niet warm voor New New Labour. Als Sunak eindelijk verkiezingen uitschrijft gaan we zien wat daarvan overblijft, maar een artikel als bovenstaande lijkt mij persoonlijk op de winst vooruit lopen.

Drug shortages in England are now at such critical levels that patients are at risk of immediate harm and even death, pharmacists have warned.
The situation is so serious that pharmacists increasingly have to issue “owings” to patients – telling someone that only part of their prescription can be dispensed and asking them to come back for the rest of it later, once the pharmacist has sourced the remainder.
Hundreds of different drugs have become hard or impossible to obtain, according to Community Pharmacy England (CPE), which published the report. Widespread and often long-lasting shortages posed “immediate risks to patient health and wellbeing” and caused distress, it said.
Er gaat iets niet helemaal goed in Engeland met de medicijnbevoorrading... Altijd een beetje lastig inschatten hoe groot dit soort problemen nou zijn in de praktijk, maar:

[*]91% of pharmacy owners had seen a “significant increase” in the problem since last year.
[*]99% of pharmacy workers found a drug was unavailable at least weekly, and 72% encountered that several times a day.

Probleem speelt in NL ook. Artikel maakt mij niet echt duidelijk hoeveel slechter de situatie in het VK wel/niet is.
