The product used is said to make a nauseating smell recommending the... withdrawal.

Look at this picture: there is the almost full Red Bull Racing team neatly seated in front of the pit wall. The ds, Jonathan Weathley, looks like the conductor before the start of a concert. This, in fact, is not a celebratory shot: the party will come later after Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez's stunning one-two finish in the Bahrain GP, the opening race of the 2023 World Championship. One only has to look at the grandstands to see that Giorgio Piola's shot was taken before the race, about twenty minutes before the pit lane opened for the start of the starting procedure.

They are all outside the pit lane at Milton Keynes, while inside there was only an attendant spraying a liquid with an allegedly nauseating odor on the wings and some parts of the bodywork. What was it? Substances, hopefully non-toxic, useful to prevent track dirt, particularly Pirelli tire marbles that settle out of the way can, with dust and debris, form a buildup of materials that, sticking like chewing gum, risk reducing aerodynamic efficiency.

Nanotechnology substances, on the other hand, prevent the adhesion of marble by preventing, for example, the occlusion of blowholes in the front wing flaps or slots in the bottom. One only has to look at photos of Red Bull at the parc ferme to see that they have found effective chemical treatments in Milton Keynes to keep the RB19 "clean."

Er is een heel, heel groot verschil tussen er iets van weten en in staat zijn om de juiste aerodynamische oplossing voor een F1 auto te ontwerpen vanuit de cockpit op basis van wat je voelt als coureur.

Ach, ik zit er ook niet echt zó in wat de techniek betreft (zeker aerodynamica is een prut dingetje en ik was uitermate slecht in natuurkunde ) , maar het principe van de "omgekeerde vliegtuigvleugel" snap ik zeker!
En dus vind ik de technische dingetjes ook altijd superleuk om te kijken.
