Michael started throwing darts at a very young age. When he was just 15, he fell off his bike and broke his hip. He was on crutches for 16 weeks, but incredibly, it was during this setback that he actually scored his first maximum, with 180 points from 3 darts, while standing on one leg! On leaving school, he did a joinery course at college, but with one exam remaining, he dropped out to play in a darts tournament instead. "Bully Boy" insists that this was the best decision he's ever made. At 19, he made his debut in a PDC Major at the 2009 UK Open, where he got through to the fourth round. The following year, in the same event, he reached the last 32, beating Peter Manley and Matt Clark before losing to Mervyn King. Things were starting to come together for "Bully Boy", and on February 26, 2011, at a PDC Youth Tour event, he hit a 9-dart finish, playing none other than Michael Van Gerwen. The lad from St. Helens was making waves in the world of darts and had now become a full-time professional on the PDC darts circuit. He made his debut in the World Championships in 2012, and despite not progressing beyond Round 1, he was now competing with the very best and determined to stay there. Bully Boy was making his mark, and this was just the beginning!
