Zowel de mannenvier (Nederland 1) als de Holland Acht starten vandaag niet. Bij beide boten is een bemanningslid ziek. De ploegen zijn in quarantaine geplaatst en de twee zieken ondergaan momenteel een PCRtest. Indien de uitslagen negatief zijn, kan de vierzonder morgen alsnog in de herkansing starten. De Holland Acht gaat dan rechtstreeks naar de finale van zondag. Amos Keijser dreigt hierdoor vrijwel letterlijk tussen wal en schip te raken. Hij werd als skiffeur teruggetrokken om in te vallen in de vierzonder en staat nu voorlopig met lege handen.
Dit is de verklaring van World Rowing van zojuist: The NED M4- (NED1) and NED M8+ had an ill rower in each crew this morning so both crews are now isolated and undergoing PCR testing under the guidance and protocol of the local health authorities.
If the rowers in question are tested negative and cleared by the local authorities later today, the Executive Committee has decided, in this exceptional period and without creating a precedent, to allow NED1 to progress directly to the Repechage round tomorrow, and not race the heat. The NED M8+ would not race in the optional Test Race this afternoon.
If a positive result is returned, the crews will be withdrawn and remain isolated.
