Local Croatian media has named three artists who are reportedly under consideration to represent their country in Eurovision 2018.
Despite earlier reports of a return to Dora, the national selection format, it is now expected that Croatian broadcaster HRT will select the artist for Eurovision 2018 internally.
According to the online edition of Croatian daily newspaper 24sata, there are three artists in contention for the Croatian ticket to Lisbon: Indira Levak, Franka Batelić and Damir Ked¸o
Indira Levak has been a judge on the Croatian version of The Voice since 2015. One of her fellow judges is Jacques Houdek who represented Croatia in Eurovision 2017 and finished in 13th place. The Croatian representive in 2016, Nina Kraljic was the winner of the first season of The Voice in Croatia. Indira was previously rumoured to be participating in Dora before HRT opted for an internal selection.
Franka Batelić rose to fame in Croatia in 2007 after winning the show Showtime in which Jacques Houdek was also a judge. Damir Ked¸o was a participant in Dora 2011 and has won the Croatian version of Your Face Sounds Familiar. Representatives for Franka and Damir did not confirm the rumours when asked by 24sata.
Dora was previously used to select every Croatian entry from the country’s debut in 1993 until 2011. HRT cancelled the selection after 2011, citing Croatia’s poor results in the last ten years and decreasing public interest. All Croatian entries since then have been chosen through internal selection.
