Rudi Kemna is bang dat de wielrennerij weer in een nieuwe dopingcultuur verzeild raakt. De ploegleider van Giant-Alpecin vertelt tegen de NOS dat hij in de wandelgangen dingen hoort die ervoor kunnen zorgen dat de sport weer in de ‘oude gewoontes’ terug dreigt te vallen. Kemna pleit voor strengere regels vanuit de UCI.

“Er is te weinig gedaan om het structureel te veranderen”
In 2013 kwam Kemna zelf naar buiten met het nieuws dat hij doping gebruikt had. In die periode kwamen meer ex-renners met een opbiechting. “Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat het een shock teweeg bracht in de wielerwereld”, zegt Kemna. “Dat shock-effect heeft hele goede dingen gedaan, maar als ik nu terugkijk, is er in de grote lagen, bij reglementen, bij organisaties, te weinig gedaan om het ook constructief en structureel te veranderen.”

Over Lampre-Merida, dat uit de MPCC stapte nadat zij Diego Ulissi niet wilden ontslaan na zijn schorsing, is Kemna teleurgesteld. “Je kan je wel voorstellen dat ik daar diep ongelukkig van word. Kijk, het is niet nieuw dat mensen zich aansluiten bij het MPCC om vervolgens, als het ze even niet goed uitkomt, de verantwoording te ontlopen en er weer uit stappen. Voor mij is het heel duidelijk: we moeten strak de regels naleven. Met de MPCC doen we dat iets meer dan met de UCI-regels. Maar het blijkt dat als het belang minder is, je er zo uit kan stappen. En dat dan het feestje gewoon doorgaat. En dat is een hard gelag, zoals we nu met de wielersport bezig zijn.”

“Het is niet aan mij om Astana te beschuldigen”
Afgelopen maand beschuldigde Greg Henderson via Twitter Fabio Aru. Kemna ziet een deling in het peloton. “Een hele groep renners is heel bewust bezig met topsport. En hoe we wielersport op een geloofwaardige manier kunnen bedrijven. Die beschuldiging zegt wel iets, die was er in het verleden niet. Wij als individu kunnen niet zomaar zeggen: dit is er aan de hand. We kunnen wel in het algemeen zeggen: er gebeuren vreemde dingen. Zoals nu met Astana, die goed rijden, ongeloofwaardig goed. Maar het kan ook gewoon heel goed gepiekt zijn. Het is niet aan mij om Astana te beschuldigen.”

“De UCI moet structureel de regels zodanig veranderen dat het geen waarde meer heeft om doping te gebruiken”
Kemna acht het noodzakelijk dat de UCI ingrijpt. “Het moet niet meer waardevol zijn om dat risico te nemen”, vertelt de Oldenzaler. “Wanneer je van dopinggebruik geen voordeel hebt, ga je het niet voor de lol gebruiken. Dat de MPCC sterker moet worden ondersteund door de UCI. Dat je wordt veroordeeld, ook publiekelijk en niet welkom meer bent als je niet aangesloten bent… Die mogelijkheid zou moeten worden geboden.”

“Je moet het willen. Echt willen. Mijn idee is nog steeds dat er nog steeds belangen zijn, grotere belangen. Ik denk dat het vooral macht is. En misschien ook geld.”

Extreme verschillen geven frustratie
Volgens Kemna wordt er in het peloton en het wereldje erom heen niet heel veel over dit onderwerp gesproken. “Maar natuurlijk is het zo dat als die zichtbaarheid er meer en meer is, bijvoorbeeld van een renner die nu alweer voor de zesde keer in de aanval is terwijl hij een maand geleden nog helemaal niets reed, dus als je extreme verschillen ziet, geeft dat frustratie. Zoals bij Henderson, die dan wat gaat roepen.”

Decision in the case of Kateryna Kozlova

The International Tennis Federation announced today that Kateryna Kozlova has been found to have committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.1 of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (presence of a Prohibited Substance in a Player’s Sample).

Ms Kozlova, a 21 year-old player from Ukraine, provided a urine sample on 16 February 2015 in association with her participation in the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships event (the “Dubai event”) held in Dubai, UAE. That sample was sent to the WADA-accredited laboratory in Montreal, Canada for analysis, and was found to contain 1,3 dimethylbutylamine, which is a Prohibited Substance under section S6(b) (Stimulants) of the 2015 WADA List of Prohibited Substances and Prohibited Methods, and is therefore also prohibited under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (the “Programme”). Ms Kozlova was therefore charged with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.1 of the Programme.

Ms Kozlova asserted that the 1,3 dimethylbutylamine, for which she did not hold a valid TUE, had entered her system through her ingestion of a supplement provided to her by a doctor. The ITF accepted that Ms Kozlova had therefore established the means by which the 1,3 dimethylbutylamine entered her system, and that she met the preconditions of Article 10.5 of the 2015 Programme (reduction of the period of ineligibility based on no significant fault or negligence).

Ms Kozlova’s commission of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.1 of the Programme was confirmed, and it was determined that she is suspended from participation for a period of six months, back-dated to commence from 16 February 2015, and so ending at midnight on 15 August 2015. It was also determined that her results at the Dubai event – and all subsequent events in which she competed prior to the date of this decision – should be disqualified, with resulting forfeiture of the ranking points and prize money that she won at those events.

The Tennis Anti-Doping Programme is a comprehensive and internationally recognised drug-testing programme that applies to all players competing at Grand Slam tournaments and events sanctioned by the ITF, ATP, and WTA. Players are tested for substances prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency and, upon a finding that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation has been committed, sanctions are imposed in accordance with the requirements of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme and World Anti-Doping Code. Decision in the case of Hamad Abbas Janahi

The International Tennis Federation announced today that Hamad Abbas Janahi has been found to have committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.1 of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (presence of a Prohibited Substance in a Player’s Sample).

Mr Janahi, a 24 year-old player from UAE, provided a urine sample on 21 February 2015 in association with his participation in the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships event (the “Dubai event”) held in Dubai, UAE. Lopende het onderzoek kan en zal ik hier verder geen mededelingen over doen, maar mijn sportieve activiteiten heb ik tijdelijk opgeschort. Zodra ik volledige duidelijkheid heb, en dat kan een aantal weken duren, zal ik hiermee naar buiten treden.”
