Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan accused Iran on Thursday of trying to dominate the Middle East and said its efforts have begun annoying Ankara, as well as Saudi Arabia and Gulf Arab countries.

Turkey earlier said it supports the Saudi-led military operation against Houthi rebels in Yemen and called on the militia group and its "foreign supporters" to abandon acts which threaten peace and security in the region.

"Iran is trying to dominate the region," said Erdoğan, who is due to visit Tehran in early April. "Could this be allowed? This has begun annoying us, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. This is really not tolerable and Iran has to see this," he added in a press conference.

Warplanes from Saudi Arabia and Arab allies struck at Houthi forces in Yemen, who have taken over much of the country in their campaign to oust President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The Saudi-led intervention marked a major escalation of the Yemen crisis, in which Shi'ite Muslim Iran supports the Shi'ite Houthis, and Sunni Muslim monarchies in the Gulf back Hadi and his fellow Sunni loyalists in Yemen's south.

Erdoğan said the conflict has evolved into a sectarian one and urged Iran to withdraw. "Iran has to change its view. It has to withdraw any forces, whatever it has in Yemen, as well as Syria and Iraq and respect their territorial integrity."

Erdoğan's plans to visit Iran had not changed, his spokesman, Ibrahim Kalın, told journalists earlier on Thursday without giving a specific date.

Israel's fighter jets have taken part in the Thursday Saudi-led airstrikes on Yemen, sources in Sanaa disclosed on Friday.
"This is for the first time that the Zionists are conducting a joint operation in coalition with Arabs," Secretary General of Yemen's Al-Haq Political Party Hassan Zayd wrote on his facebook page.

He noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had issued direct orders for the Israeli air force to send fighter jets to the Saudi-led air raid on Yemen.

Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against Yemen and killed, at least, 25 civilians early Thursday, one day after the US-backed Yemeni president fled the country.

Also, 15 more people were killed and injured in a second round of massive attacks by the Saudi Arabian fighter jets in the Northwestern Yemeni city of Sa’ada on Friday.

Yemen’s al-Massira TV reported that the Saudi air force targeted the Yemeni's civilians who were shopping in a market.

Five Persian Gulf States -- Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait -- backed by the US have declared war on Yemen in a joint statement issued earlier Thursday.

US President Barack Obama authorized the provision of logistical and intelligence support to the military operations, National Security Council Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said late Wednesday night.

She added that while US forces were not taking direct military action in Yemen, Washington was establishing a Joint Planning Cell with Saudi Arabia to coordinate US military and intelligence support.

Riyadh claimed that it has bombed the positions of the Ansarullah fighters and launched attacks against the Sana'a airport and the Dulaimi airbase.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is attacking Ansarullah positions, Saudi warplanes have flattened a number of homes near Sana’a international airport. Based on early reports, the Saudi airstrikes on Yemen have so far claimed the lives of 25 civilians with more deaths feared, Yemeni sources said.

The Saudi aggression has received growing international condemnation as it is pushing the region and the world into an unprecedented fast-growing war as its ISIL mercenaries are on the brink of complete annihilation in Iraq and Syria.

Oman is ready to provide medical assistance to Yemenis injured in the ongoing civil conflict and Saudi-led intervention, according to local media reports.

The sultanate is the only member of the Gulf Cooperation Council not taking part in the bombing campaign fronted by Saudi Arabia.

“We are concentrating on the humanitarian side, not the offensive,” an unnamed government official told the Times of Oman on Friday.

On 21 March 40 injured Yemenis were transferred to hospitals in Oman, after multiple suicide bombers in Sanaa killed 142 people and wounded 351 others.

Since those deadly attacks, claimed by the Islamic State group, Saudi Arabia has led air raids against Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, who seized control of Sanaa in September and have since expanded their influence across Yemen.

The Omani official said their country was ready to help those hurt in the bombing campaign.

“Yemeni officials asked us to be on standby to receive more injured. They can be airlifted and brought over here like the first lot of patients we received last Saturday.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oman has urged their citizens to immediately leave Yemen, as reports of civilian casualties mount, with no sign of air strikes coming to an end.

“Due to the prevailing security situation in the sisterly Yemeni Republic and in a bid to ensure the safety and security of Omani nationals, the Foreign Ministry advises all Omanis, including students at the colleges and universities in Yemen, to leave the Yemeni Republic and avoid travelling there currently for their own safety,” the ministry statement read.

Veel doden door bombardementen op Jemen

Door de bombardementen op Jemen van de afgelopen nacht zijn 35 mensen omgekomen en 88 gewond geraakt. Dat zeggen althans de Houthi's, die het doelwit zijn van de bommenregens.

Een coalitie van voornamelijk Arabische landen onder leiding van Saudi-Arabië bombardeelt doelen van de Houthi-rebellen in Jemen.

Ook de afgelopen nachten vielen daarbij doden. Ditmaal ligt het dodental volgens de Houthi's veel hoger. Onduidelijk is of het om soldaten of burgers gaat.

Door de bombardementen, die in de nacht van woensdag op donderdag begonnen, zou het wapenarsenaal van de sjiitische Houthi-rebellen flink zijn gedecimeerd.

Raketten
De meeste raketten van de rebellen zijn kapot en de opstandelingen zouden over geen enkele straaljager meer beschikken, aldus het leger van Saudi-Arabië. Dat land leidt de coalitie die de bombardementen uitvoert.

Houthi-rebellen zouden in Jemen zeker 1.800 gevangenen hebben bevrijd en willen nog meer mensen uit hun cellen halen. Dat meldt al-Arabiya zondag.
