The phone doesn't support 3G, which is a huge issue since EDGE is around 100Kbps while 3G would be over 1Mbps. Plus, you can't sync with iTunes or anything else over the EDGE or even wi-fi network, you have to plug it in: http://arstechnica.com/journals/app.../2007/1/10/6559

The iPhone is not a smartphone. It just isn't. One key thing that smartphones have is that you can install apps on it, to customize it and add functionality. The phone has a camera, but it's only 2MPx, has no auto-focus and no flash. My 6 month old N73 has a better camera at 3MPx with auto focus and flash, the newest smartphones bring 5MPx cameras, so this really isn't anything special.

So bottom line is this. Who would want an iPhone? At $500 or $600 with a 2-year contract, casual users won't want to spend that money on a phone. Power users usually want a smartphone, they want a phone that can be extended and they usually run all kind of addons apps, so the iPhone is not an option. So who's left? The Apple fanboys. That is the only people who, once all the facts are out, will be left as iPhone customers. Will the iPhone be successful? At least moderately, since Apple always does nicely in sales. Will it kill the Treo, Q, N-series and so on? Of course not. Will it kill any current phone that sell for 1/10 of the price? Again of course not. The iPhone is a cute, easy to use front, to a very badly piece of technology.
