A 22-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in clashes with security forces in the West Bank on Friday evening, Palestinian sources say.
The youth was hit by live fire in his upper body in clashes in Al Amari refugee camp, south of Ramallah, according to the reports. The Israel Defense Forces said that the incident is under investigation.
According to the IDF, Some 50 Palestinians gathered near the Psagot settlement west of Ramallah and threw stones toward the settlement and at soldiers. Troops responded with fire, which resulted in the death of one person.
There were rallies across the West Bank on Friday in support of the Gaza Strip after the end of Friday prayers. One soldier was wounded by a stone thrown in Nabi Saleh north of Bir Zeit, breaking his hand. Earlier Friday, Palestinian sources said that at least 10 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with security sources east of Nablus.
Two weeks ago, nine Palestinians were killed in clashes with security forces across the West Bank. In clashes which took place two days earlier at Qalandiya checkpoint, 19-year-old Mohammad al-Araj and Majd Sufyan, 27, were killed. More than 200 people were wounded, along with dozens who inhaled tear gas used by security forces. Palestinian factions, including Fatah, declared a "day of rage" in response.
