Rusland ziet de wapenstilstand die de Oekraense president heeft afgekondigd niet als een uitnodiging voor vrede, maar als een ultimatum. Dat heeft het Kremlin vandaag laten weten aan het Russische persbureau Interfax.
Volgens Moskou ontbreekt het 'belangrijkste element', namelijk een voorstel om onderhandelingen te beginnen met de opstandelingen.
Tegelijk beschuldigd Rusland Oekrane van het neerschieten van een Russische douanier.

Ukraine says it will 'remove need' for South Stream pipeline
Ukraine's parliament agreed yesterday (19 June) to discuss a bill to allow gas transit facilities to be leased on a joint venture basis with participation from firms in the European Union or United States.
Ukraine would hold 51% and foreign partners would be offered 49% in the venture, which would manage both transit pipelines and underground gas storage facilities.
Suffering a third cut-off of natural gas supplies from Russia in under nine years, and with political relations in crisis, Ukraine is desperate to become less dependent on Russian gas, but at the same time to provide more reliable transit for the Russian gas that Europe needs.
The government said the joint venture would bring in investment and remove the need for the South Stream pipeline, which Russia's Gazprom is building to take gas to southeastern Europe across the Black Sea, avoiding Ukraine.
It would also aim to boost Ukraine's capacity to receive "reverse flows" of Russian gas reimported back from EU countries.

De enige fascisten zijn de zeer nationale pro-russen in oost oekraine. Een klein groepje dat met wapens de burgerbevolking een fascistische referendum heeft afgedwongen. Er zijn volgens mij maar twee levensvatbare interpretaties van deze oorlog.quote:

Interpretatie 1
Eergisteren sneden Oekrainse strijdkrachten Slaviansk af van de grens met Rusland. Gisteren reed er een colonne van 5 tanks, 5 APCs & 20 militaire voertuigen door Lugansk, van de Russische grens naar o.a. Horlivka & Slaviansk. Dat is versterking / bevoorrading voor de opstandelingen.
Dit kan niet zonder Russische medewerking. Dat is een voorbeeld waaruit blijkt dat Rusland zich wel mengt in het conflict.
Het is dus te beschouwen als een Ukrainse onafhankelijkheidsoorlog, ruim 20 jaar na dato. Ook in het leger, de veiligheidsdienst en de Rada zitten mensen die aangestuurd worden vanuit Rusland. Daarom vormt Oekraine milities buiten het leger om (Donbass Batallion, Azov Battalion, Aidar Battalion). Daarom zijn er berichten over de slechte samenwerking tussen deze twee.
Donbass Batallion (inmiddels 2000 man sterk) vormt nu ook een Krim Batallion. Het is niet duidelijk waarvoor, maar ik vermoed dat ze in de Krim de Russen het leven zuur gaan maken (net zoals de Rusland in Donbass te werk gaat).
Interpretatie 2
Het is een proxy oorlog tussen de RF en Het Westen. Dat blijkt o.a uit alles dat het westen heeft gedaan om Oekraine opte nemen in zijn invloedssfeer (EU & NATO), en de stimuleren van de volksopstand in Kiev tegen de zittende elite.

Het verslag van RT staat weer vol van verwijzingen naar vluchtelingen, vooral vrouwen & kinderen. Daar druipt de propaganda vanaf. Het Oekrainese leger gaat echt niet zo achteloos om met zijn eigen bevolking.

The footage claims, and appears to be, taken much later at night than the incident described in the ITAR-TASS report we posted on previously.
We have not been able to precisely geolocate this footage, however the title claims it was filmed at the Russian customs station.

The office of the Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, has published his proposals for a peace plan:
Peaceful plan of the President of Ukraine on the settlement of the situation in eastern regions of Ukraine:
1. Security guarantees for all the participants of negotiations.
2. Amnesty for those who laid down weapons and didn’t commit serious crimes.
3. Liberation of hostages.
4. Establishment of 10 km long buffer zone on the Ukrainian-Russian border. Withdrawal of illegal armed formations.
5. Secure corridor for the escape of Russian and Ukrainian mercenaries.
6. Disarmament.
7. Establishment of units for joint patrolling in the structure of the MIA (missing in action).
8. Liberation of illegally seized administrative premises in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
9. Restoration of functioning of local government.
10. Restoration of central television and radio broadcasting in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
11. Decentralization of power (through the election of executive committees, protection of Russian language; draft amendments to the Constitution).
12. Coordination of governors with representatives of the Donbas before the elections (in case of the approval of single candidature, in case of discrepancies – the decision is taken by the President).
13. Early local and parliamentary elections.
14. Program of creating jobs in the region.
15. Restoration of industrial objects and objects of social infrastructure.
The BBC reports that Poroshenko also announced that he would invite the OSCE to monitor the ceasefire.
However they note that the Russian government has not reacted enthusiastically to the ceasefire announcement:
The Kremlin dismissed the truce, saying it was "not an invitation to peace and negotiations but an ultimatum".
Ukrainian news agencies quoted a senior rebel commander as saying the insurgents would not lay their arms until government troops had left the region.

Changes to terrorism law give The Verkhovna Rada on June 5 passed a number of changes to the law on terrorism which had been heavily criticized by lawyers for not providing an effective legal framework to fight Kremlin-backed separatists Ukraine’s eastern-most regions of Luhansk and Donetsk.
The amendments were passed in the third attempt by a simple majority of 239 lawmakers out of the legislature’s 450. President Petro Poroshenko signed the document on June 18.
They are supposed to extend the legal reach that counterterrorism forces have to combat the Russia-backed militants. Until now, there were restrictions and preconditions attached to firing and ending the life of a terrorist.
The amendments, in particular, legitimize the use of Ukrainian military servicemen in the operation. Before this, only special units of the Interior Ministry could be engaged.
The new legislation also allows commanders to temporarily restrict the rights of local populations as well as to shut down business entities – fully or partially.
Discrepancies in the legal status of the National Army and National Border Guard were also removed.

Ukraine is following American policy on restricting travel to the country from Russia. The State Border Service on April 17 restricted entry for Russian male citizens aged 16-60 and since then they are allowed to come only if they can prove they’re visiting a relative who is fatally sick or deceased.
Moreover, National Security and Defense Council head AndriyParubiy on June 16 said that Ukraine will build a solid wall along its state border with Russia to avoid any future provocations from the Russian side.

Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko made a surprise visit to Eastern Ukraine on Friday, where he announced a unilateral ceasefire and a 14-point peace plan meant to quell unrest in the region and turn the tide of the bloody conflict that has raged there since April.
Except the plan is not really meant to do any of that. The first clue that the ceasefire won’t hold is that it’s unilateral, meaning the pro-Russia militants the Ukrainian army is fighting haven’t actually agreed to it. So it’s just as well that in his orders to stop shooting, Poroshenko added a caveat that essentially boils down to, “You can keep shooting.”

This posturing is helping Russia win the propaganda war at home, if not in Ukraine and abroad.
Poroshenko’s peace plan is an attempt to retake the moral high ground in the eyes of both his own people and the international community. Now, every pot shot that is taken against Ukrainian troops after 10pm tonight is an example of the pro-Russia separatists' unwillingness to give peace a chance.

Ik ben werkelijk verbijsterd over de anti-Rusland koers van het land. En hoe de bevolking daar onder te lijden heeft/krijgt. Staat haaks op democratie en het denken vanuit volksbelang. Dit is puur de uitvoering van Amerikaanse wensen, met alle destructieve gevolgen van dien.
Amerikaanse democratie. Goed bezig Oekrane. Mijn persoonlijke voorspelling is dat het land n grote puinzooi van werkloosheid, anarchie, onderdrukking en terreur wordt. Daarmee houdt het tevens op te bestaan. Dat de EU tevens die Amerikaanse belangen ondersteunt is natuurlijk hoogst onverantwoordelijk en in alle opzichten contraproductief.
Rusland weet dat Oekrane geen bestaansrecht zonder ze heeft. Net zoals Duitsland van essentieel belang voor Nederland is. Het willen scheiden van die partijen mag je gerust crimineel en stupide noemen.
