De mens is toch niet het milieu of zien wij ons mensen als het milieu ? Zo'n 65 miljoen jaar geleden voltrok een ramp een Grote meteoor kwam en Roeide de Dinosauries uit, dat niet alleen ook Planten en bomen etc.
Wat gebeurde de Zoogdieren overleefden door onder de grond te wonen en de planten die erna kwamen waren Varens.
Uit eerder onderzoek in laboratoria bleek dat mensen en andere dieren zich aan radioactieve straling kunnen aanpassen. En wanneer organismen langdurig aan lage doses radioactieve straling worden blootgesteld blijken ze beter bestand te zijn tegen grotere, opeenvolgende doses.

Tuurlijk kunnen wij ons aanpassen. We kunnen nog steeds 100 Jr worden terwijl we pijn lijden door kanker en andere ziekten veroorzaakt door straling.
We kunnen ons prima aanpassen als wij een kindje met een handicap krijgen.
Zolang er maar een paar gezonde mensen overblijven zal de mens het wel overleven, maar willen we dat? En durven we het risico te nemen dat de schade uiteindelijk toch onomkeerbaar en onrepareerbaar is? Het antwoord is natuurlijk ja, anders zou dit topic niet bestaan.

Het probleem is het onderzoeken van de dieren in deze gebieden, de Regio rond Chernobyl is opgedeeld dat sommige stukken te besmet zijn om in te lopen terwijl anderen toegankelijk zijn doormiddel van een gids, Mijn oude chef heeft dit ooit gedaan, Hij melde wel dat hij dat nooit weer zou willen doen zo beangstigend was het, Het leek alsof je er rond liep en de heletijd op aluminium folie zat te kauwen.
Het gaat nog heel lang duren voor de stralig weg trekt uit de regio en sommige dieren zijn wat beter bestand dan andere dieren tegen de straling, Natuurlijk is de hoeveelheid straling nooit goed, en funest voor de dieren!
Dat wil niet zeggen dat er geen dieren kunnen overleven in de regio en zich weten aan te passen aan de leefomstandig heden.
De Mens kan zich niet zo goed aanpassen als vele dieren die zijn er geboren en gaan er ook dood in de regio, De mens komt van buitenaf want die weet dat het gebied besmet is.

Nuclear-Accident Fund Opens as Japan Signs After 17 Years

Japan signed on to a global nuclear-compensation treaty in Vienna that will create a fund to help victims of accidents like the one that devastated Fukushima Dai-Ichi in 2011.
The Convention on Supplementary Compensation, or CSC, for nuclear damage, will come into force on April 15. The decision taken by Japan, with the world’s third-biggest installed nuclear capacity, ended a 17-year wait for the treaty to become legally binding.
“As a country that experienced an accident, Japan has a responsibility to push forward, not only nuclear safety but also the international convention,” the country’s International Atomic Energy Agency Ambassador Mitsuru Kitano said yesterday in Vienna, where he deposited the treaty. Japan will seek to get more Asian countries to adopt the accord, he said.
The convention will allow countries and companies to offset liability in the event of a nuclear accident. The U.S., with the world’s largest installed nuclear-power base, has championed the convention but struggled to get other leading atomic powers on board. Argentina, Morocco, Romania and the United Arab Emirates are the only other signatories.
“The use of nuclear power looks set to continue to grow throughout the world in the coming decades and it is important to have adequate compensation schemes in place,” IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said at today’s signing ceremony. Japan’s accession is a “valuable additional step toward establishing a global nuclear liability regime.”
Safety Struggles
Even as global nuclear-power generation sank to its lowest level in more than three decades last year, IAEA forecasters see installed capacity growing at least 8 percent by 2030. Asian countries with a combined 47 reactors under construction are propelling growth.
Countries have struggled to reassure populations about the safety of nuclear power after a 2011 tsunami caused three Japanese reactors to melt down and forced 160,000 people to evacuate their homes. At a meeting next month in the Austrian capital, nations will consider a Swiss-led European initiative forcing nuclear operators to mitigate against accidents.
While the new compensation fund is intended to encourage nuclear trade between companies located in countries adhering to the pact, it won’t come without costs for U.S. manufacturers. Nuclear suppliers will be on the hook to pay at least $70 million in compensation in the event of an accident, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, which asked industry for comments last month.
“Initial great expectations for the CSC have been tempered by the long road to its entry into force,” James Glasgow, a partner at Washington-based Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw LLP, wrote last month in an article sent via e-mail. There are still “doubts that the CSC will gain sufficient members to constitute a global regime.”

Als ik wat artikelen uit de Japanse media lees geeft Tepco toe de lekken verborgen te hebben gehouden het gaat om meer radioactieve stoffen dan cesium. En lekken die stoffen uit reactor 1 en 2.
Wordt als iemand die voortdurend dood is. De ware volgeling van bushidõ sterft elke ochtend en avond opnieuw. En wordt niet gehinderd door angst voor de dood. Yamamoto Tsunetomo's hagakure.

Last week, workers entered the stricken unit 1 reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant and began work to further stabilize it. One of their first tasks was to recalibrate some of the sensors on the reactor, so that engineers had a better sense of how it was doing. That recalibration has led to a startling revelation: virtually all of the fuel inside the unit 1 reactor appears to have "melted down."
Press reports on the meltdown have variously described it as a setback and or admission by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) that things are worse than they thought...
During normal operation, the core of a nuclear power reactor like unit 1 consists of long narrow tubes of a zirconium alloy filled with uranium fuel pellets. Tubes are bundled together into "assemblies" which in turn make up the core of the reactor. When it's humming along at full tilt, the core boils water that is used to turn turbines in the adjacent building. After the earthquake and tsunami on 11 March, the water stopped circulating and the core heated up.

A major bombshell has dropped concerning the failed cleanup efforts at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan. The shuttered plant's operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), has apparently been hiding for an entire year the fact that radioactive waste has been quietly pouring into the ocean from an onsite drainage ditch.
Sputnik News reports that TEPCO, which is also managing remediation efforts at the site (with guidance from the Japanese government), concealed from the public the fact that highly contaminated radioactive water has been flowing from the drainage ditch directly into the ocean. Local fishermen and others have since expressed outrage over the news.
"I don't understand why you (TEPCO) kept silent about the leakage even though you knew about it," stated Masakazu Yabuki, chief of the Iwaki fisheries cooperative, according to Sputnik. "Fishery operators are absolutely shocked."
The news comes as TEPCO continues to sustain criticism over the way it's handled cleanup efforts since the 2011 tsunami and earthquake took their toll. In recent months, TEPCO has been exposed for attempting to cover up the fact that U.S. Navy sailors were exposed to harmful radiation, as well as concealing true levels of radioactive waste releases into the Pacific Ocean.
And this latest revelation only reiterates TEPCO's tarnished legacy, proving that the company can't be trusted with adequately addressing the looming problems that are still present at Fukushima more than four years since the disaster occurred.
"This was part of an ongoing investigation in which we discovered a water puddle with high levels of radiation on top of the Reactor No. 2 building," contended a TEPCO spokesman as to why the company delayed reporting the leak, adding that "because this also happens to be one of the sources for this drainage system, we decided to report everything all at once."
