Er zijn genoeg series die 'goed geschreven' zijn maar zich meestal beperken tot de realiteit en wat er mogelijk is.

Series zoals Revolution, Terra Nova, The Walking Dead en Jericho zijn weer eens wat anders,
zowel qua verhaal als setting. Dat het niet allemaal perfect is, de één kijkt er overheen.

Ondanks dat drones, heli's en tanks na 15 jaar stil te hebben gestaan plots weer werken

The Originals was a given. The Vampire Diaries spin-off has averaged 2.7 million viewers and a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and The CW needs to keep at least one show for a full season. With its solid-ishy performance, the drama was clearly headed toward a pickup.
The Tomorrow People (2.4 million, 0.9) and Reign (2.1 million, 0.8) felt like one might survive while the other might not. Not because either are doing really well, exactly, but because The CW has limited inventory to play with (The CW has Twilight-but-with-aliens-romance Star-Crossed and Lost-meets-Avatar-meets-Lord of the Flies drama The 100 in the pipeline). Specifically, many in the industry expected Reign to get beheaded.
Explained CW president Mark Pedowitz: “In just a few seasons, we have built a much stronger primetime schedule. Our on-air ratings are up year to year, and our digital viewing continues to grow exponentially. We’re excited about the creative momentum the producers have established for all three of our new series, and now our fans will have the chance to see the full stories unfold for them this season. With the additional episodes ordered, plus two new dramas and new reality for midseason, we’ll be able to continue our commitment to adding more original programming all year long.”

In its third season, Hell On Wheels delivered an average audience of 3.3 million viewers, live and with three days of time shifting.

The season four renewal is for 13 episodes, following 10 hours in each of its first three seasons. Hell on Wheels will return to AMC next summer.

NBC has ordered a second season of The Blacklist, its hit drama that stars James Spader as a world-renowned terrorist.

The Peacock picked up 22 more episodes of the series that ranks as No. 1 drama on the Big 4 nets in the 18-49 demo, averaging a 4.9 rating/13 share. It is the No. 2 scripted series on the Big 4 in the 18-49 demo, and the No. 1 new show in 18-49 and total viewers.

“The success of The Blacklist demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television, and I’m impressed on a daily basis by this creative team’s imagination and the extent to which they will go to capture this grand vision on film,” said NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt in a statement. “With gratitude to both our partners at Sony Pictures Television and our NBC development executives who took a great script and shepherded it into a great series, I hope that Red Reddington never runs out of names to bring down on his list!”

In historical context, NBC says The Blacklist is NBC’s most-watched new drama eight weeks into its run in 19 years (since Earth 2 in 1994). The series also stars Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold and Parminder Nagra.
