Damascus is facing growing Western accusations that its forces used such weapons, which US President Obama has described as crossing a Red Line. But Ms. del Ponte’s remarks may serve to shift the focus of international concern.
Ms. del Ponte, who in Y 1999 was appointed to head the UN was crimes tribunals for Yugoslavia and Rwanda, has sometimes been a controversial figure. She was removed from her Rwanda post by the UN Security Council in Y 2003, but she continued as the Chief prosecutor for the Yugoslav tribunal until Y 2008.

Volgens mij stond hem een ander soort Syrië voor dan het Syrië van zijn vader; deels door hem zelf, deels omdat het land nu eenmaal nauwelijks valt te hervormen zonder dat je allerlei gesels over je afroept, heeft het nooit kunnen gebeuren... En dus hobbelde het land verder op dezelfde manier als onder zijn vader.quote:

Ik vind het verschrikkelijk. De propagandamachine van de Amerikanen voedt constante leugens en iedereen slikt het als zoete koek.

Interview komt inderdaad uit mei . Wat is nou schokkender eigenlijk? Dat dit interview nu pas onder de aandacht gebracht wordt om de lopende crisis te ontkrachten of dat ze al vanaf mei weten dat de rebellen chemische wapens gebruiken en de internationale gemeenschap daar niets van wil weten.
