It’s all Greek to Amazon — at least when it comes to the retail site’s first original series for adults.
The company announced today that it has chosen five of the 14 pilots it posted online in April to become full-blown series: Alpha House, a political comedy created by Doonesbury‘s Garry Trudeau that stars John Goodman (and features a cameo by Bill Murray); Betas, a Silicon Valley-set comedy starring Ed Begley Jr.; and Annebots, Creative Galaxy, and Tumbleaf, three series aimed at kids.
Each show proved popular with Amazon customers, whose feedback was taken into account during the selection process. Amazon says that full series of all five will air exclusively on Prime Instant Video late this year and in early 2014, though no specific premiere dates have been set yet.
Among the higher-profile Amazon pilots that didn’t make it to series are Onion News Empire, a Newsroom-esque parody from the minds behind America’s Finest News Source; Browsers, a musical series featuring Tony-winner Bebe Neuwirth; and Zombieland, an adaptation of the 2009 movie that was “successfully hated out of existence” by that film’s fans, according to franchise creator Rhette Reese.

Kan interessant worden, maar ben beetje bang voor te Amerikaanse, duffe characters en gezeik met jeugdliefdes e.d. Valt in de trailer wel mee, en niks mis met bv. Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), maar ben er toch bang voor
24 juni premiere iig, 13 afleveringen.

De nieuwe serie Mistresses is erg leuk begonnen! Pilot gezien, en het was zeer vermakelijk. Leuke guilty pleasure

Pfff The Killing. Daar was ik laatst aan begonnen en heb het eerste seizoen ook afgekeken, maar met moeite. Wat een vlakke personages en saaie verhaallijn. Om nog maar niet over die Deens kuttaal te beginnenquote:

Heb alleen seizoen 1 vd Amerikaanse versie gezien. Super traag en dan eindigen met een sneue cliffhanger. Kut serie!

The Fall In the five part drama series made and set in Northern Ireland, Gillian Anderson stars as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson who is brought in from the London Metropolitan Police to help catch the killer when a murder in Belfast remains unsolved.
As Gibson travels across from London, we are introduced to the murderer himself; Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan). The drama follows the police investigation uncovering the intricate story of the lives entangled by a series of murders both within the killers’ and the victims’ families.
BBC NI’s Director Peter Johnston says; The Fall is an important project for BBC Northern Ireland. It has involved significant financial investment and will showcase the skills, talent and expertise of our local creative sector. We are delighted to have been able to create a drama series of this scale and ambition and know that it will provide audiences with some gripping and memorable television. The Fall features writing and performances of the highest quality and reflects the BBC’s commitment to increasing the volume, impact and benefits of network programme production in Northern Ireland.
The Fall ,written by Allan Cubitt (The Runaway, Murphy’s Law, Prime Suspect) and executive produced by BBC NI’s Head of Drama, Stephen Wright was filmed in and around Belfast from March to June 2012.
Allan Cubitt says: Setting The Fall in Belfast and the surrounding area was an easy choice for me. I've always found Northern Ireland a fascinating place, culturally and geographically, and I already had a great working relationship with Stephen Wright and BBC NI. Having the city as a backdrop - hopefully almost a character in itself - also allowed me to draw on the disproportionate amount of home-grown acting talent there is. I really hope that seeing those actors - some relatively new to the screen - working alongside someone as iconic and potent as Gillian Anderson will make for compelling viewing.

Ik heb Mr. Selfridge en In The Flesh nog op de harde schijf staan om eventueel te bekijken. De moeite waard of tijdsverspilling? Ik ga sowieso zeer spoedig met The Americans beginnen.

The Futon Critic first reported the renaming. This is not the first change for the midseason family comedy, which stars Simmons as Mel Fisher, a blind lawyer.
In the pilot, Parker Posey played his wife, Joyce, the Fisher family matriarch who's going through some issues of her own, but Posey exited the series, which was created by DJ Nash. TVLine reported that Jenna Elfman is in talks to take over the role, but no official casting has been announced.

Van de producers van Breaking Bad overigens. Qua verhaal heeft het niets met elkaar te maken, maar je merkt het wel aan bepaalde shots en de intro's van de afleveringen.
