USA haalt vandaag toch wel veel gouden medailles. Ze staan voorlopig in een tamelijk gunstige positie ten opzichte van China, zeker met het oog op de atletiek die nog gaat komen.
De Chinezen zullen toch wel zo ongeveer echt hun favoriete sporten (tafeltennis, badminton, schoonduiken) moeten sweepen om weer op één te eindigen. En ook aardig wat toestelfinales turnen winnen.

En Australië was toch zo een land met sportcultuur? Die hebben slechts 1 gouden medailles (wel 7x zilver). Canada heeft nog geen gouden medaille, en Spanje heeft slechts 2 medailles.
