The new supernatural crime drama starring Kristin Kreuk just received an additional nine episodes from The CW.
This marks the second freshman drama to get a full ride from the network this fall (the first, of course, is Arrow). So far, the show is averaging 2.4 million viewers and a 1.3 rating among adults 18-34, the network’s target demographic.
What about Emily Owens M.D.? No decision yet on Tuesday’s quirky doctor dramedy. We bet that Beauty would get a full season and not Emily Owens in the most recent edition of Death Watch. Going into CW’s fall, it felt like musical chairs with three shows (Emily, Arrow and Beauty) and two chairs since a shortened Gossip Girl was only airing until the end of the year and the network has Cult and Carrie Diaries waiting in the wings. But sources say that’s far from certain, since The CW’s seasons are pretty short and Cult could launch in late spring.

It’s a sad day for fans of two ambitious ABC dramas that came up short in the ratings this fall: Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue will soon end their runs.
ABC will finish airing the original 13-episode orders for both shows, but neither will receive a full-season pickup.
For 666, the writing has been on the wall for weeks. The Sunday-night supernatural drama starring Terry O’Quinn has been shedding its Revenge lead-in and been on a downward spiral since its debut.
For Last Resort, the news is somewhat surprising. Though its ratings matched the performance of 666, Shawn Ryan’s submarine thriller was one of the best-reviewed new fall shows and, up until the past couple weeks, insiders were betting it would get a “back nine” order. But Last Resort struggled against very steep competition in its 8 p.m. slot and the show’s ratings ticked down a little further last night.
Oftentimes freshman series cancellations are met with a fair amount of online jeering (there wasn’t much disappointment over CBS’ Made In Jersey or NBC’s Animal Practice getting the axe). But these two are a bummer. Understandable, given the numbers, but a bummer. Both shows creatively tried to bring something new to broadcast primetime rather than rely on a familiar drama formula. Even if you’re not a fan of these shows, you can respect the effort behind them.
As with last year’s Pan Am, ABC is retaining its option to revive either show for next season. So if midseason shows like Red Widow and Zero Hour perform worse than these two and the network’s pilot season goes poorly, there’s a chance one or both could be resuscitated. It happened to CBS’ Unforgettable, which was cancelled last season and then later announced to return next summer. But the example of Pan Am is far more typical.

Nashville ziet er veilig uit hoor. 10PM zijn er bijna geen series die beter presteren dan een 2.0, wat het gemiddelde is van Nashville. Als ABC geen vertrouwen had in de serie dan hadden ze geen extra afleveringen besteld bovenop de al bestelde 13 afleveringen. Moet alleen niet verder zakken naar 1.7-1.8 gebied ; dan word het inderdaad gevaarlijk.
Denk dat de Good Wife een pluspunt heeft in dat het een Awards-trekker is. Dat speelt ook mee, heb ik wel vaker gehoord. Denk dat er nog wel materiaal voor een seizoen in zit als ze de stap wagen om Alicia en Cary hun eigen firma te laten oprichten.
Ik zou geen voorstander zijn van die verhaallijn, lol. Nog zeker wel 1 volledig seizoen te vullen bij Lockhard Gardner. Die karakters zijn veel te interessant. Uiteindelijk zijn ze toch nog buiten de top 10 gevallen, want ik was nog wat cijfers van Happy Endings en The Mindy Project vergeten die het momenteel slechter doen.quote:

Wel balen, maar echt heel verrassend is het het ook weer niet. Hopenlijk weten de serie makers er nog een leuk einde aan te brouwen, zodat we niet met zo'n vreselijk irritant open einde komen te zitten.

Ze zitten dit seizoen vrij consistent zo'n 2 miljoen kijkers lager dan de eerste twee seizoenen dus wat dat betreft gaat het minder. Dat ze nu niet in de top 10 van Mr.Silencer staan heeft er denk ik meer mee te maken dat er, zoals elk seizoen, een aantal series in komen die het gewoon niet gaan redden door seizoen 1 heen. Als die er langzaam tussen uit vallen schuift Hawaii five-0 er vast wel weer tussen.quote:

De ratings blijven aardig stabiel, maar desondanks zijn ze wel matig voor een zender als CBS.quote:

Ze zitten nu in hun derde seizoen en naast de ratings begint ook syndication een rol te spelen, waardoor ze deze serie makkelijker kunnen verkopen aan andere zenders. Ze moeten dan nog wel een vierde seizoen krijgen om minstens 88 afleveringen te halen.
De gelopen jaren falen erg veel series en is de kans dat er van een serie minstens 4 seizoenen wordt gemaakt steeds kleiner. De producenten willen het liefst ook op langere termijn aan een serie verdienen met behulp van syndications en dvd/blu-ray verkoopcijfers, dus producenten pushen zenders om hun series uit te blijven zenden.
Dus zolang Hawaii-Five 0 rond een 2.0 rating blijft scoren zie ik ze nog wel een seizoen krijgen.
Series in een vergelijkbare situatie:
The Good Wife (matige ratings - geen extra seizoen nodig)
Nikita (slechte ratings - nog 1 seizoen nodig)

It appears that The Killing has been un-canceled. Showrunner Veena Sud and executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin are actively working on a third season and are back in the writers' room, according to Variety. AMC initially canned the show back in July, but then Netflix and DirecTV started sniffing around. As of now, there's nothing official in place with another entity, but it looks like that Netflix deal is nigh.

Well it’s not like the show wasn’t already cancelled. But to put another nail in the 666 Park Ave. coffin, ABC is pulling the remaining episodes from its schedule.
Starting Jan. 6, comedies Happy Endings and Don’t Trust The B—- in Apt. 23 will run Sunday nights in the former 666 slot. Endings will air at 10 p.m.; Apt. 23 at 10:30 p.m. The duo will still air on Tuesdays, as well, at least until the Dancing With the Stars results show takes over.
An ABC spokesperson says the network still plans to continue running the remaining episodes of Thursday’s similarly axed Last Resort, if that’s any consolation. The remaining episodes of 666 will likely air sometime this summer.

The drama follows Nate Ford (Hutton), a former insurance investigator turned thief who has partnered with grifter Sophie Devereaux (Bellman); retrieval specialist Eliot Spencer (Kane); gadget wizard Alec Hardison (Hodge); and the athletic Parker (Riesgraf).
“As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show.,” Devlin said on the website. “ Just as we didn’t know when we created the last three episodes which are about to air. Because of this uncertainty, John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot. So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned.”

On a ratings basis, the renewal of How I Met Your Mother was never in doubt, but whether the cast wanted to come back wasn't as certain. Deadline's Nikki Finke reports deals have been closed with all the cast members and the series will be renewed for a 9th season. The series had been in the final year of its deal and the creators had been pushing for everything to get resolved by the end of December so they could do the necessary build-up to the series finale reveal this season if necessary. Ik vreesde er al voor (Leverage), dat is mijn 2e show in korte tijd die er mee ophoudt (na Flashpoint). En Private Practice ook over een maand en Last Resort al. Is geen goed jaar voor mijn series, maar ik had er al een beetje rekening meegehouden.
