Zeer vermakelijk gevecht. Ik had niet verwacht dat Danzig nog een ronde zou pakken en hij deed het beter dan ik had verwacht. Alleen is hij nu 4-5 in de UFC en 2-5 in zijn laatste 7. Denk dat hij nog één kans krijgt vanwege zijn vorige gevecht tegen Wiman maar als hij dan verliest zien we hem niet meer terug in de UFC.
A. Johnson vs. Brenneman
Johnson domineerde Brenneman compleet en ik vind de stoppage niet geheel onterecht. Hij was nog helemaal bij bewustzijn maar als je je handen bij je heupen houdt en toestaat dat iemand je recht in je gezicht trapt dan kan er maar beter iemand een einde aan het gevecht maken.
Dan moet ik er nog even bij zeggen dat ik hoop dat Brenneman weer uit de top 10 rankings wordt gesmeten. Eén upset maakt nog geen top 10 fighter, daarvóór won hij 2 decisions van vechters die nooit wonnen in de UFC en zijn andere partij verloor hij via TKO (van Hendricks, die men onder hem rankt
Barry vs. Struve
Tenenkrommend optreden van Struve. Ronde 1 was vrij saai en Struve stond continu met zijn rug tegen de muur. In de tweede ronde dacht ik dat hij weer flink KO zou gaan, al helemaal toen hij toch weer voor die vliegende knie ging. De big punch tegen zijn gelaat bleef gelukkig uit maar hij werd toch nog flink tegen het canvas geslammed. Mooi staaltje BJJ, dat wel. Maar ik krijg steeds meer het gevoel dat hij nooit met de top mee zal kunnen draaien.
Cruz vs. D. Johnson
Ik had verwacht dat Cruz een sprawl 'n' brawl zou vertonen en dat Johnson continu zou zoeken naar takedowns. Maar Johnson bleek de betere/snellere striker te zijn. Which fighter has earned the most money over the course of their UFC career? We've crunched the numbers and have the answer for you. And the name at the top of the list probably won't surprise many.
But, before we reveal the list, first some ground rules. Athletic commissions didn't start releasing fighter purse info until 2004, so the info below only reflects money earned from UFC 46 and onward.
Also, these are only the reported salaries plus Fight of the Night, Knockout of the Night and
Submission of the Night bonuses that have been made public. Many top performing fighters get additional bonuses paid out to them that aren't reported, plus the top guys get a cut of the pay-per-view buys for events that they headline (not to mention every fighter makes sponsorship money).
Also, many athletic commissions don't report fighter's salary info, so for those we've estimated a fighter's purse based on what they have earned in their other fights. Fighters with some estimated purses are marked with a * in the database. This data should still be considered very close to accurate, as most fighters' purses remain rather steady from fight to fight (unless they ink a new contract in the meantime).
We'll do more specific breakdowns of the data, as well as reveal the full salary info for all 600+ fighters who have competed in the UFC over the past seven years in future articles. For now, here's the UFC's Millionaires Club, where Chuck Liddell ices them all:

Many hardcore MMA fans eventually become collectors of memorabilia from the sport, be it shirts, press credentials, action figures, trading cards, whatever. There are many options to go when making an investment in the sport, and one of the top gems in MMA collecting is fight-worn gear. Not just an glove you bought at a store to get autographed, but the actual clothing a fighter wore in one of their bouts. For the very serious collector, you can now own a piece of MMA history, if you don’t mind having to mortgage your house to get them.
Over on MMACollector.com, the operators of the site are offering Mark Coleman’s blue Pride gloves from the Pride Grand Prix 2000 event. This historic series of events, which was also documented in “The Smashing Machine” documentary, saw Mark Coleman revive his dimming MMA career by winning the 16-man single-elimination tournament despite being one of the biggest underdogs in the show. Coleman defeated Ricardo Morais to qualify in the Opening Rounds, then moved on to the one-night 8-man tournament where he grinded out a decision to Akira Shoji, defeated Kazuyuki Fujita after he threw in the towel, and clobbered Igor Vovchanchyn with devastating knees on the ground to claim the greatest victory of his life.
Now you can own the two pairs of gloves he wore during this entire event for the astounding price of $40,000! Yeah, you read that right. An average pair of Pride FC gloves will go for $400-700, but this set is practically the cost of a new car. The gloves are being sold through consignment, so buyers should contact the operators of the site before purchasing to iron out details. If any of you readers end up buying this, let me know (more so how many banks you robbed to get that kind of dough to spend on gloves).
If 40K is too rich for your blood, you can always buy a UFC 5 poster for $650, or Clay Guida’s walkout shirt from UFC 64 for $429. Not going to lie though, if Coleman ever sold his Pride GP 2000 championship belt, I would sell everything I own to buy that piece of gold!

Ik denk Aldo zijn conditie vorige keer een slechte cut (of ziek) was, zal hem niet nog een keer gebeuren. En ik ben bang dat Florian nooit een titel gaat winnen.

Zo makkelijk is het niet om hem KO te slaan.
Ik denk dat Kenny de beste tegenstander is tegen wie Aldo ooit heeft gevochten. Qua striking is er minder verschil dan iedereen lijkt te denken. Aldo heeft hoogstwaarschijnlijk meer power en snelheid, maar Kenny heeft goed voetenwerk en kan afstanden goed dicteren (kijk maar naar zijn gevechten tegen Stout en Stevenson hoe makkelijk hij uit de weg danste). Daarnaast is Kenny de betere grappler.
Ik lees altijd dat Aldo's jiu jitsu zo geweldig is, en dat hij tijdens trainingen wereldkampioenen tapt, maar in MMA hebben we daar nog niet zoveel van gezien. Zelfs Hominick dreigde met een armbar en een triangle (die Aldo wel beiden goed verdedigde).
Kenny daarentegen is een fenomenale grappler die veel blackbelts heeft gesubmit in de kooi. Daarbij vergeten veel mensen vaak dat hij een behoorlijk goede worstelaar is.
Ik denk dat Kenny een hele goede kans maakt.Ik denk ook zeker dat hij een goede kans maakte, beste tegenstander ooit? Dunnow Brown en Faber zijn ook high caliber.
Als Aldo weer gassed in de 4e ronde dan kan Kenny wel eens gaan winnen, zijn wrestling is goed samen met zijn BJJ, ik denk dat hij een goede kans maakt, misschien wat geld erop zetten als upset

TNA star Kurt Angle has responded to UFC President Dana White's weekend statement regarding Angle's attempt to fight for the UFC.
To recap, Dana White answered questions about Kurt Angle at the UFC Live 6 post-fight press conference on Saturday night. White said Kurt Angle called him several times hoping to compete in the UFC - and he was offered a chance to try out for UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality show, but Angle couldn't pass UFC's medical test.
Despite Kurt Angle's claims that he had been offered a fight with Kimbo Slice, Dana White put that rumor to rest - stating flat out:
"I never told him, 'You're fighting Kimbo Slice on pay-per-view.' Kurt, you're a good guy, but that's not true, and that never happened. I thought it would be interesting, and I thought it would be cool, but never once did I say, 'We're going to set up a pay-per-view match with you and Kimbo.' That is not true."
Angle responded to Dana White's weekend comments, tweeting on Monday morning:

Deze is hilarisch, Kurt daagt wat mensen uit om met hem in de ring te stappen. Een van de mannen is 23 jarige BJJ black belt Daniel Puder. Ze worstelen, Angle krijgt top position maar Puder krijgt kimura. Scheidsrechter saved Angle's ass (en schouder) van een publieke vernedering door belachelijk snel de three count te doen waardoor Angle 'wint'
toelichting: that video skipped the part where they had them all lined up in the ring and Kurt Angle talked shit to every one, stopping at Puder and saying "Oh yeah, you're the UFC guy. You ever fight an Olympic champion?" Puder said, "No, sir." Angle said, "You don't want to because I'll beat your ass. You'd better pray you don't make it, boy.". Something along those lines, and then when they all had them out of the ring and Kurt dared anyone to step in his ring for a real match, Puder raised his hand and the crowd popped. Thats where the video takes off.
Gezien deze video zou Angle niet ver komen in de UFC anno 2011 (in het Mark Coleman tijdperk wel maar die zijn we nu voorbij).
