Een erg leuke blik in de eerste wave van LA punk (helaas wel aan het einde van de scene in 1980) met erg gave optredens o.a. germs, circle jerks, black flag en fear (en the bags waar na het zien van de film helaas geen studio opnames van zijnquote:The Decline of Western Civilization is an American documentary film filmed through 1979 and 1980. The movie was directed by Penelope Spheeris about the Los Angeles punk rock scene. In 1981, the LAPD Chief of Police Daryl Gates wrote a letter demanding the film not be shown again in L.A.[1] Over the years the film has gained cult status.

Beetje hetzelfde als de voorgaande maar dan over de complete punk golf van NY naar London naar LA met veel oud beeld en interviews met o.a. henry rollins en veel andere deelnemers aan de eerste en tweede golf punkquote:Punk: Attitude[1] is a documentary by contemporary director Don Letts. The film explores the "punk" revolution, genre and following from its beginning in the mid 1970's up to its effect on modern rock music and other genres. The cast is a veritable list of alternative musicians and directors offering their opinions on what may have been the largest music revolution ever.
The film was officially released on the 25th of April 2005 at the Tribeca Film Festival in the U.S.A. Reviews have generally been favorable with an average of 3.5 - 4 stars with many people commenting on the accuracy and approach of the film.
HYPE! (1996)
Een grunge docu van binnen uit de 'scene' waarin vooral de rare 'hype' naarboven komt deze bandjes waren gewoon aan het kloten en voor zichzelf goede muziek aan het maken, en ineens komt daar nirvana en gaat de hele wereld hun na doen. Ik vind zelf de xxx Britannia documentaires erg interessant (zelfs de Prog Britannia terwijl ik helemaal niks met die muziek heb). American Hardcore (over de vroege jaren 80 hardcore punk) is ook goed. Minutemen voornamelijk leuk vanwege de welbespraakte Mike Watt en de Scott Walker documentaire is gewoon briljant omdat Scott Walker briljant is. Vanavond thuis ook nog even verder kijken wat ik verder nog heb

Dat oppervlakkige krijg je toch als je probeert zo'n lange periode te duiden. Het zijn vaak wat grote namen en een paar trendsetters die in dat soort docus genoemd worden. ( al de punk docus in de OP gaan maar over hooguit 1 á 2 jaar tijdquote:

Klopt, en ik mis ook zeker artiesten in de afleveringen. Zo zijn er altijd wel opmerkingen. Ik vond het wel leuk om te kijkenquote:

Dat vond ik ook leuk aan die NL3 docu's over klassieke albums, doordat ze één album namen ging het behoorlijk de diepte in. Bovendien praten die mensen dan over dat album en vooral het maken, en dan komt er veel meer los dan de gebruikelijke rocksterrenclichés.
Verder staat me iets bij van een docu over The Stooges die de VPRO ergens eind jaren 80 of in de hele vroege jaren 90 uitzond. Ik zou echt niet weten hoe die heet. Die zou ik nog wel willen zien, aangezien ik de The Stooges toen nog niet kende, toevallig nog net niet, en mijn ouders niet echt Stoogesfans waren en tv kijken een gezinsaangelegenheid was.
Twee jaar geleden of zo was er een VPRO docu over de Chili Peppers, die vond ik vooral mooi omdat die Van Splunteren de band over hele lange periode had gevolgd. Het is nu natuurlijk wel echt een hele grote naam, en dan heeft hij nog een paar uur film liggen van toen ze bij -6 met autopech langs de autobahn stonden en dat soort beslommeringen van een beginnende band. Ik weet ook niet hoe die heet.

Die laatste 2 vind ik niet echt grindcore maar na het zien van deze docu moet ik mijn gedachte van grindcore bijstellen ik zat te denken aan onluisterbare onzin maar wat in deze docu voorbij komt is allemaal nog wel vrij mildquote:

Maestro
Over disco en house in New York, ofwel de roots van de dance muziek

Style Wars shows both the young artists struggling to express themselves through their art, and their points of view on the subject of graffiti, as well as the views of then New York City Mayor Ed Koch, one-armed graffiti writer Case/Kase 2, graffiti writer Skeme and his mother, graffiti "villain" Cap, now deceased graffiti writer Dondi, Seen and Shy 147, graffiti documentarian (and director of the film) Henry Chalfant, breakdancer Crazy Legs of Rock Steady Crew, police officers, art critics, subway maintenance workers, as well as several "people on the street".
Style Wars gives a view into the graffiti subculture (as well as urban New York City life in the 1980s), documents the stages of New York City Hip Hop, and posits that its members were a racially and ethnically diverse group of creative young artists, albeit being mostly African-American.

The Doors waren in grote mate een band van hun tijd. Hun muziek reflecteert de sociale en politieke bewogenheid van de late jaren ’60 en het begin van de jaren ’70. Toch heeft de groep ook nu nog een grote aantrekkingskracht, dankzij zijn hypnotiserende sound en de charismatische persoonlijkheid van leadzanger Jim Morrison, de rebelse profeet en ‘poète maudit’ van de seks, drugs & rock ‘n roll.
Morrison richtte The Doors in 1965 op, samen met gitarist Robby Krieger, toetsenist Ray Manzarek en drummer John Densmore. De eerste plaat kwam er in 1967 en toen ging het razend hard. Maar het was al even snel voorbij: door het overlijden van Jim Morrison in Parijs in 1971 was de band als het ware onthoofd en twee jaar later hield de groep ermee op.
Aan de hand van zeldzame archiefbeelden reconstrueert de documentaire het verhaal van The Doors, van de wandelgangen in de filmschool van Los Angeles, waar Morrison en Manzarek elkaar in het midden van de jaren ’60 ontmoetten, tot de coulissen van de uitverkochte concertzalen waar de groep in het begin van de jaren ’70 zijn glorietijd beleefde.
