Aboul Gheit confirms Suleiman assassination attempt

Aboul Gheit, who witnessed the incident said that the attempt killed one of Suleiman's bodyguards and seriously injured his driver.
A barrage of fire coming from an ambulance was directed at Suleiman's car while he was on his way to the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis, according to Aboul Gheit, who said bullet holes covered the car.
Fox News reported on 4 February that Suleiman was targeted shortly after being named to his post, describing it as an organized attack on his motorcade. But Egyptian authorities denied the incident at the time.
Suleiman, who has run Egypt's intelligence for nearly two decades, was appointet vice president on 29 January in an effort to calm crowds calling for the fall of Mubarak's government.
There has been little news about Suleiman following his announcement of Mubarak's resignation and the delegation of authority to Armed Forces on 11 February, but Aboul Gheit's statement about the assassination attempt is an indication that Suleiman's authority has diminished.

"Azmi paid several visits to Mubarak in Sharm el-Sheikh after the latter had stepped down as president," according to the sources. They said the former president's offices in both districts contain original copies of his declared and private decrees, as well as memos he received from state institutions and foreign countries.

I do not know if that the police officer or the driver but I think based on what I know it could be the police officer because he was saved from the angry people by the army while he was on its top. The people seemed to be hostile to that person in this video.
The police officer is alive unlike what was claimed earlier. It turned out that his name is Salah Ashraf El-Saginy and he is the son of infamous officer "Ashraf El-Saginy" who is known for his torture and human rights abuse record during the time of Hassan Al Alfy and Habib Al Adly. "You know what is said about the apple and the tree after all !!"

The last thing I got from twitter friends in Maadi that the youth are calling for a sit in at the Algiers square.The police officers have left their positions again and the Youth are currently organizing the traffic. There are protests currently , big protests in front of El-Saginy's house and as well the Sakr Qoraish police station.
Nothing justify this murder , it is a murder by all measure. I will not listen to any justification for any kind because a person was killed. The police force need rehabilitation with courses in anger management. We are waiting for the reaction of the minister of interior on this murder.
I think the police is not ready yet to face the public because honestly they have not admitted a crime that they deserved to stand for in front of a military trial. Het zijn soenieten daar en die zijn nogal gematigd. Dat wil niet zeggen dat er geen islam elementen in de wet kunnen komen. Maarja wij zitten hier ook mooi te kijken met gristelijke elementen in onze wet waar ik niet blij van wordt. Als het meerdendeel van de egyptenaren dat dan wil, waarom niet, het is hun land. Ik denk alleen niet dat ze snel extreem worden. Dat wil overigens ook weer niet zeggen dat er geen extreme elementen in egypte aanwezig zijn. Al die mensen die je op het Tahrirplein voor de cameras van Al Jazeera zag, zaten om de hoek op school op de American University. Dat is dus niet de gemiddelde Egyptenaar. Mensen denken altijd dat wat je ziet, dat dat het is.
Hij verwijst naar een onderzoek van het Amerikaanse Pew Research Center.
Pin me niet vast op de cijfers, maar daaruit blijkt dat 90 procent van de Egyptenaren vindt dat overspelige vrouwen mogen worden gestenigd. 80 procent vindt dat afvalligen mogen worden gedood.
Vergelijkbare zorgen heeft Wilders momenteel bij de ontwikkelingen in Libië, vooral rond de plaats Benghazi in het oosten. De oppositionele krachten hebben daar nu al een week de macht overgenomen van het regime van Gaddafi.
Dat zijn strongholds van islamisten. Het is allemaal een dubbeltje op zijn kant. Het kan net zo goed erg of nog erger worden.
