Au, dat is wel zonde voor Clint. Lijkt een beetje bergafwaarts te gaan met z'n films. Ik zie Girl with the Dragon tattoo ook niet echt de Oscars domineren eerlijk gezegd.
TTSP zie ik niet echt met de Oscar voor beste film naar huis gaan.
Ik vind het trouwens wel opvallend dat Margin Call nauwelijks genoemd wordt. Goede film, urgent onderwerp.

Ik bedoel dat ook niet zozeer dat iedereen hem de grond inboort, maar dat de reviews (in functie van awards) te negatief zijn om hem daar nog als kanshebber te zien, terwijl dat wel verwacht werd.
Het lijkt erop dat het meer een acteerjaar wordt dan een filmjaar. Ik lees veel meer over sterke acteerprestaties dan over sterke films. Ondertussen lijkt Midnight in Paris (de enige relevante film die ik al heb gezien - tenzij je Tree of Life ook nog meerekent) één van de sterkere spelers te gaan worden en dat vond ik echt niet meer dan een leuk tussendoortje, dus als dát een maatstaf is voor wat nog komt....

Murphy wilde om volstrekt onduidelijke redenen absoluut samenwerken met Ratner en nu hoeft het voor hem ook niet meer.

I had mijn stem aan de Muppets gegeven, zou een leuke uitreiking worden. Met Billy Crystal zullen ze geen nieuwe (jonge) kijkers aantrekken, ben ik bang
Nu J. Edgar enigszins flopt (amper 40% op RT en aan de box-office ook niet best, al is dat de laatste tijd eigenlijk meer regel dan uitzondering voor Clint), lijkt Warner Bros de film ook te laten vallen en gaan ze nu volledig voor de laatste Potter, met een onontkombare in-your-face reclamecampagne.

Dat Beginners het zo goed heeft gedaan bij Gotham Awards. Wel een aardige film, maar verder ook niet echt bijzonder. En verder had ik Lizzie Olsen wel een Award gegund, alhoewel ik Like Crazy nog niet heb gezien.

Het opvallendste aan die lijst is dat Attack the Block daar net buiten de top 10 viel, een film die je helemaal niet zou verwachten.quote:

Desalniettemin interessant om Hugo als winnaar te zien, net als Swinton (en dus geen Streep, Williams, Close of The Help-dames). Het feit dat er op A Separation na vrijwel niets hetzelfde is als bij de NY Critics bevestigt wel dat het een heel open seizoen zou kunnen worden zonder uitgesproken favorieten. Belangrijkste afwezige lijkt Moneyball.

Er waren eens Washington DC Critics:
De 6 (!) verschillende winnaars bij acteur duiden er wel op hoe open de race daar is, al lijken Oldman en Giamatti geen serieuze kandidaten.
En we lachen eens hartelijk met de dubbele winst van Melissa McCarthy, niet dat comedy-performances niet mogen beloond worden, maar er waren al betere vrouwelijke bijrollen in de film Bridesmaids zelf. Beloon ze dan bij ensemble of zo (wat ze dan ook ergens deden).

, al lijken Oldman en Giamatti geen serieuze kandidaten.En we lachen eens hartelijk met de dubbele winst van Melissa McCarthy, niet dat comedy-performances niet mogen beloond worden, maar er waren al betere vrouwelijke bijrollen in de film Bridesmaids zelf. Beloon ze dan bij ensemble of zo (wat ze dan ook ergens deden).

De SAG-nominaties
Bij acteur was 't sowieso Pitt tegen Clooney, maar nu Shannon, Oldman en Fassbender ontbreken, lijken er ook geen gevaarlijke outsiders meer te zijn, want DiCaprio, Dujardin en die 5e die niemand kent, gaan het echt niet halen. Persoonlijk zou ik winst van Pitt ook onterecht vinden, zo bijzonder was hij niet (niet dat hij iets mis deed, het is gewoon geen rol waarvoor je een award hoort te winnen, wat mij betreft)
Verrassend dat Albert Brooks ontbreekt bij bijrol, die domineerde samen met Plummer degenen die al werden uitgedeeld. Anderzijds vond ik Brooks zeker niet beter dan Cranston of Perlman in Drive en kreeg hij alleen maar lof omdat men niet had verwacht dat hij ook serieuze rollen aankon, dus misschien wel terecht dat hij ontbreekt. Wel leuk dat Nolte en Hill er bij staan.
Close en Swinton doen een goede zaak bij actrice, Theron en Olsen niet. Ik vrees dat het daar weer tussen de 2 celeb-imitaties zal gaan (misschien terecht vanwege sterk acteerwerk, maar het blijft sowieso een gimmick waarmee je véél sneller wint dan als een ingetogen nobody - zie ook Williams die al jaren ijzersterke rollen speelt en pas nu echt kans lijkt te maken)

Het zou me niet verbazen indien er gewoon 5 betere acteerprestaties waren.
Melancholia is ook love-it-or-hate-it en die films (en alles wat erbij hoort) doen het meestal niet goed (of alleen bij prijzen van de critics). Zie ook Tree of Life of Drive die geen nominaties hebben.

Pikant detail is dat de PGA dit jaar ook Mad Men heeft genomineerd voor beste drama-serie, terwijl de serie in heel 2011 niet op de buis was.

De longlist van de BAFTA's
Opvallend dat zelfs in deze lange lijsten Tree Of Life nauwelijks voorkomt, de Britten lijken die film echt te haten. Eveneens opmerkelijk dat zelfs BAFTA Harry Potter grotendeels negeert
De films die hier het vaakste voorkomen zijn Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (16), My Week with Marilyn (16) en The Iron Lady (14). Bij die eerste kon je dat wel verwachten, maar bij die laatste 2 is 't erg vreemd, want dat zijn gewoon 2 films die gedragen worden door 1 acteerprestatie en verder genegeerd worden, maar hier lijken het plots veelzijdige films te zijn (al kun je we verwachten dat er bij de effectieve nominaties van die 16 en 14 niet veel meer zal overblijven).

Opvallend dat zelfs in deze lange lijsten Tree Of Life nauwelijks voorkomt, de Britten lijken die film echt te haten. Eveneens opmerkelijk dat zelfs BAFTA Harry Potter grotendeels negeert
De films die hier het vaakste voorkomen zijn Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (16), My Week with Marilyn (16) en The Iron Lady (14). Bij die eerste kon je dat wel verwachten, maar bij die laatste 2 is 't erg vreemd, want dat zijn gewoon 2 films die gedragen worden door 1 acteerprestatie en verder genegeerd worden, maar hier lijken het plots veelzijdige films te zijn (al kun je we verwachten dat er bij de effectieve nominaties van die 16 en 14 niet veel meer zal overblijven).

De Broadcast Film Critics (ook wel Critics Choice genoemd). Het opvallende aan deze awards is dat die nauwelijks kiezen voor wie ze nu zelf het beste vonden en dus totaal geen eigen gezicht hebben, ze proberen eigenlijk alleen maar de oscars te voorspellen (en ze zijn daar nog trots op ook).

Ik heb vandaag Hugo gezien en die viel me toch wat tegen. Probeert vanalles tegelijk te zijn en is daardoor op geen enkel vlak echt helemaal geslaagd. Ik had ook problemen met het tempo van de film, dat liep nogal met horten en stoten. Het leukste was nog om die stokoude films eens op een groot scherm te zien.

Ik zit een stukje van de rode loper show te kijken bij E!. Daar hebben ze één of andere glamcam en dan kan je een actrice in 360 graden zien met haar jurk. Erg boeiend allemaal.

Ik denk dat ze Brooks gaan negeren bij supporting en hoop stiekem dat Pitt genomineerd worden voor supporting ipv. lead, maar dat is niet realistisch. Verder vind ik een regie-nominatie voor Woody nogal overdreven, maar hij maakt wel een kans uiteraard. Stiekem hoop ik wel op wat verrassingen vanuit het Drive en/of A Separation kamp, maar die kans is klein.

Die nominatie voor Extremly Loud is imo ook echt verrassend. Film is grotendeels afgekraakt en heeft het bij andere prijzen ook geen hoge ogen gegooid.quote:

Vreemd dat ze Mara nomineren, maar dan niet de film of Fincher, Mara leek me toch niet meteen het sterkste onderdeel.

Ik mis Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Drive en Shame als beste films. Fassbender als beste mannelijke hoofdrol voor Shame en voor diezelfde film Carey Mulligan als vrouwelijke bijrol (of voor Drive in het kader van 'ze heeft het dit jaar best wel aardig gedaan'). Ondanks dat het te verwachten was, had ik een kleine hoop dat Hugo niet als beste film genomineerd zou worden en toch zeker niet voor de categorie Best Writing, Screenplay Based etc. Ach, het had nog erger kunnen zijn.
Leuk dat Melissa McCarthy is genomineerd voor Bridemaids al zal ze waarschijnlijk niet winnen. En ik hoop dat Michelle Williams + George Clooney na de GG ook de Oscar pakken
