"We, the fans of Formula One racing, want to see Mx Mosley and Bernie Ecclestone out of the sport.
Their actions and what they express hurt the sport we love and have followed loyally for many years.
We do not agree that Mr. Mosley has contributed a lot to the safety of the sport and recognise Ayrton Senna as the true initiative-taker. Mr. Mosley has only contributed to safety when people died and doing so has made the sport as excessivly expensive as it is today. We feel that foresight is a virtue Mr. Mosley either does not possess, or chooses to ignore in favour of personal gains.
We also feel that, like in any democratic system, the maximum term of a FIA presidency should be maximized, preferably to two terms.
We also feel that Mr. Ecclestone clearly is getting too old to be held fully accountable for what he says. Either that or Mr. Ecclestone has no moral and/or social eloquence to be bothered with what others might think and feel about his comments on issues as women, Hitler, democracy.
We understand that things need to change and that change will not be permitted by those that have been holding Formula One in their grip for so long. Sport should never be all about cashflow but about a coming together of people, united in their love for excellence. Therefor, we think that Formula One is heading in the wrong direction, mainly due to wrong leadership.
We also understand how hard it is for people that are working in an industry that's controlled by the FIA to criticize the FIA. We are tired of opinions being surpressed by fear of losing employment and we've come to the conclusion that change must come from outside the FIA"

For the past few weeks there have been rumblings of unease behind the scenes following the FIA's selection of three new teams to race in F1 next year. This is hardly surprising since Manor, Campos and USF1 aren't exactly the best-known names in motorsport whereas teams like Lola and Prodrive had an F1 pedigree but were turned down.
First we heard that Alan Donnelly, the FIA president's representative, was doing PR for Manor and then, just a few days later, we learn that Donnelly had even brokered the sale of stakes in Manor weeks before it got its grid slot. Donnelly wriggled out of both accusations but mud sticks. Today's revelation is so strong that the FIA hasn't been able to deny it and it sums up everyone's worst fears about the selection process.
Writing in the Telegraph, Pitpass' business editor Chris Sylt reveals that several of the teams which failed to get grid slots next year have accused the FIA of bias. They say that during the application process the FIA insisted they had to buy engines from Cosworth in order for their bid to be accepted.
quote:Sylt put the charges to an FIA spokesman asking why it had favoured Cosworth in the process to select the F1 teams, adding that this came across as commercial bias - not what you expect from an independent governing body.
The surprising response was that "the FIA has always considered the availability of an independent supply of engines to the new Formula One entrants and the other independent teams to be a priority. Without the independent supply of F1 engines, the whole grid would be at the mercy of the car industry and no new team would be able to enter without their permission. Existing independent teams would also have to follow their instructions. An independent supply of engines is essential to a healthy Formula One."

This cabinet system was introduced in 2005, just prior to Mosley successfully winning another term as president after standing unopposed. The original aim of the cabinet system was to ensure that wild card candidates could not put themselves forward and hope to capitalise on merely a negative vote for the current president.

quote:F1 future in doubt after Fota walkout
Formula One: The future of Formula One is again in jeopardy after the eight members of Fota walked out of a meeting with the FIA last night. Just two weeks after peace appeared to have broken out in the wake of Fota's threat to form a breakaway series, the battle lines have seemingly been drawn again.
The latest dispute centres around the legality of the eight teams' entry into next season's world championship, and voting rights in relation to the technical and sporting regulations.
The furore follows a meeting of the FIA's Sporting Working Group chaired by Charlie Whiting, the Fota eight - Ferrari, McLaren, BMW Sauber, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Brawn GP - as well as Williams, Force India and the three new teams in US F1, Campos Meta and Manor Grand Prix.
A statement issued by Fota read: "Representatives of all Fota teams attended a meeting of the Sporting Working Group at the Nurburgring today.
"During the course of this meeting, the team managers were informed by Charlie Whiting of the FIA that, contrary to previous agreements, the eight Fota teams are not currently entered into the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship and have no voting rights in relation to the technical and sporting regulations thereof.
"It will be remembered all eight active Fota members were included on the "accepted" entry list as endorsed by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) and communicated by FIA press statement on June 24th.
"In light of these claims, the Fota representatives requested a postponement of today's meetings.
"This was rejected on the grounds no new Concorde Agreement would be permitted before a unanimous approval of the 2010 regulations was achieved.
"However, it is clear to the Fota teams that the basis of the 2010 technical and sporting regulations was already established in Paris.
"As endorsed by the World Motor Sport Council and clearly stated in the FIA press statement of June 24 'the rules for 2010 onwards will be the 2009 regulations as well as further regulations agreed prior to April 29th, 2009'.
"At no point in the Paris discussions was any requirement for unanimous agreement on regulations change expressed.
"To subsequently go against the will of the WMSC and the detail of the Paris agreement puts the future of Formula One in jeopardy.
"As a result of these statements, the FOTA representatives at the subsequent Technical Working Group were not able to exercise their rights and therefore had no option other than to terminate their participation.
"The Fota members undertook the Paris agreement and the subsequent discussions in good faith and with a desire to engage with all new and existing teams on the future of Formula One."
In their own statement, the FIA put it more bluntly, saying: "Following the decision of the World Council on June 24th to revert to the pre-April 29th version of the 2010 F1 Sporting and Technical Regulations, the FIA today met the teams which have entered the 2010 championship to seek their agreement to these changes.
"All changes have now been agreed subject only to the maintenance of the minimum weight at 620kg and the signing of a legally binding agreement between all the teams competing in 2010 to reduce costs to the level of the early 1990s within two years, as promised by the Fota representative in Paris on June 24th.
"The eight Fota teams were invited to attend the meeting to discuss their further proposals for 2010.
"Unfortunately no discussion was possible because Fota walked out of the meeting."
The walk out has again thrust F1 back into an unsavoury spotlight at a time when the sport finally appeared to be getting its act together after weeks of feuding.

quote:FOTA Boss: "Breakaway can still happen"
Jul.9 (GMM) The threat of a breakaway series remains a viable "alternative", FOTA vice-chairman John Howett insists.
Shortly before the conflict between the eight rebel teams and the governing body reignited on Wednesday, the Toyota team principal suggested that a resumption of hostilities could again lead to the threat of exodus.
The Briton is quoted by the Financial Times Deutschland as saying FOTA's breakaway plans have "not been buried yet".
Howett said he hopes the Paris peace accord becomes a reality, "however if anything was to happen, we do have alternatives".
On Wednesday, Howett's doubts rapidly materialised, when during a meeting in Germany the FIA's Charlie Whiting provoked a FOTA walkout by saying that non-FOTA teams, including the three new 2010 entrants, must consent to next year's amended rules.
British newspapers then reported the curious moment when, as Jenson Button arrived at Dusseldorf airport for the Nurburgring event, his team boss Ross Brawn was speeding through departures to return to London for emergency FOTA talks.
"What a shameful mess," said the Daily Mail, echoing widespread dismay that, as at Silverstone, another race weekend of political reporting seems on the agenda.
Said the Daily Telegraph: "Yet another race weekend is set to be overshadowed by off rather than on-track pyrotechnics."
Britain's Guardian newspaper senses the wily hand of controversial FIA president Max Mosley, attempting to prolong the saga so that FOTA will run out of "time to organise a breakaway series".
An unnamed team insider said giving the new teams power over next year's rules is "extremely provocative", adding: "Max really seems to have gone out of his way to wind everybody up on this issue.
"Most of us think that they should not be allowed a vote on these matters, although by all means let them attend the meetings and listen to what is being discussed," the insider said.
A reader of the American website speedtv.com neatly observed: "Time for FOTA to put up or grab their ankles."

Jul.9 (GMM)
Sebastien Bourdais' future is once again the object of speculation, with the French publication Auto Hebdo publishing rumours that his Toro Rosso seat is in immediate danger.
The report comes shortly in the wake of Spanish teenager Jaime Alguersuari's claim that, although newly ensconced as Red Bull's F1 reserve driver, his grand prix debut could actually be made in 2009.
Auto Hebdo claims the energy drink company's motor sport chiefs are unhappy with 30-year-old Bourdais and have given the Frenchman just one more race - this weekend at the Nurburgring - to prove he should retain the race seat at Faenza.
As well as 19-year-old Alguersuari, Giorgio Pantano and Bruno Senna were named as possible replacements.
Bronquote:A promising first run
The first official shakedown of the new GP3 car took place today at Le Castellet in the South of France. After months of careful development, this session marked the first performance and the reliability test of the Dallara chassis, combined with a Renault 4 cylinder, 2 litres turbo charged engine and Pirelli slick tyres.
Under blue skies and on the 3D track configuration current GP2 Series championship leader Romain Grosjean took the wheel and completed a trouble-free programme. After the session he commented: “I’m very glad to have had this first taste of the GP3 car. We have had a productive day with very few small problems and many good surprises, namely in terms of speed. I have been impressed by the level of reliability of the car for a first run.
“This is a great car! It’s really fun to drive and the level of downforce is already quite impressive, although we still need to determine which one will be used. Compared to a F3, the acceleration is better and speed in fast corners is similar. One thing for sure: the GP3 car will be notably fast! The paddle shift on the steering wheel is also a great addition to a car that will definitely prepare GP3 drivers to step into the next category: GP2.
“Now that I’ve seen and tested the competitiveness of this new car, I’m really looking forward to watching the races: they should be very interesting and fun to follow!”
GP3 Series organiser Bruno Michel said: “I am very pleased to say that the GP3 Series is well on track and the development is on time. Today’s successful test run showed our car’s strong potential, and we gathered enough data to keep improving the performance and the reliability of the GP3 car.
“I am confident that it will become the perfect piece of machinery that will reveal a young driver’s skills while providing a safe and exciting show. Meanwhile, we are carefully assessing the costs of a season in our new Series: we will communicate them over the coming weeks to the many teams from all around the motor racing world that have already expressed their interest in this new Series. As previously announced, the entry selection process will take place next September, with the first official test session for the selected teams taking place next March.”
The GP3 Series, intended to be a stepping-stone into GP2, will kick off next year and will run alongside the GP2 Series in Europe.
