19 Recordings has now signed the top two finishers from this season's American Idol. Adam Lambert's album is due this fall. Here's the press release announcing the signing:

Adam (Los Angeles, CA – June 9, 2009) – American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert has been signed to 19 Recordings and licensed to RCA Records. He is preparing to start work on his debut album which is due for release in fall 2009.

He is unique and unforgettable and a certain star of tomorrow.”

"There are no longer any rules in terms of where the world's next superstars may come from,” says Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO RCA/JIVE Label Group. “We are thrilled to be getting involved with Adam Lambert as we all at RCA Records believe he is one of those rare, future global stars".

“I’m thrilled that we’ve come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album,” says Lambert. “We are 100% on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings. It’s going to be ridiculous! Get Ready!!!”

27-year-old Lambert, who hails originally from San Diego, CA, had four songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this summer. With his masterful interpretation of Mad World leading the way, he also charted with No Boundaries, A Change Is Gonna Come and One.

Lambert, will be recording his album over the summer while on the road with the American Idols Live tour. The tour kicks off July 5th in Portland, OR, and culminates on September 15th in Manchester, NH.

I didn’t want the Clay Aiken thing and the celebrity-magazine bullshit. I need to be able to explain myself in context. I'm proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It's just another part of me."

According to Rolling Stone, Adam was open about his sexuality backstage at Idol. Lambert admits that he was nervous about coming out while Idol was still on the air because contestants are under a media embargo, preventing them from talking to reporters, and he wanted to do it on his "own terms." (He also says producers were open to him handling it however he wanted to.)

"I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing," Lambert tells the mag. "I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. it shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing."

Lambert says he was inspired to audition for the Fox network singing competition after having a "psychedelic experience" at the Burning Man festival in Nevada. There, he says, he experimented with "certain funguses."

"I knew that it was my only shot to be taken seriously in the recording industry, because it's fast and broad," he says of Idol.

Despite being gay, Glambert says he enjoys attention from the ladies too. "I loved it this season when the girls went crazy for me," he says. "As far as I'm concerned, it's all hot."

Plus, Adam reveals to Rolling Stone that he had a crush on Idol winner Kris Allen during the show!

When Idol producers put him in a room to share with Allen, Lambert says his first thought was, "They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He's the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100% straight."

Glambert also talks about the many photos of him dressed in drag and making out with boys that leaked on the Internets. He says that he forgot to remove photos from his profile on a social network for the Burning Man festival in Nevada. "Wasn't ready for that," he says. "I've only dressed in drag three or four times. … I don't tuck and wear breasts, that's not me."

Lambert proclaims that he supports the gay-rights movement but doesn't want to be really involved. Mkay. "I'm trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader," he says.

Stereotypes about gays do annoy Adam. "Clay Aiken's gay, and I'm gay, and we couldn't be more different. The only thing that is the same about everyone in the gay community is that we're gay. … Why can't we talk about a human community?"

In addition to his homosexuality, Lambert shares other personal details with Rolling Stone.

At 21, he was in a European tour of Hair for six months. That was when he dyed his hair black. In Germany, he started smoking pot and tried Ecstasy. But he does have limits. Among his dislikes: cocaine.

"That drug is such a reflection of the lack of self-esteem and control people have over themselves and their lives," he says.

Lambert credits the FOX reality show with helping him gain self confidence.

"I finally checked into my self-worth for the first time in my life, and the fact that it coincided with Idol is so sweet," he says. "I mean, I still have moments where I think, 'Oh, my skin is terrible, and I'm a little fat — I should really go to the gym more.' But for the most part, when I look in the mirror now, I finally see somebody who can do something cool."

Adam Lambert may have just revealed all personally, but he's apparently putting on a poker face for his professional debut.

Living up to his American Idol reputation, and nickname, Glambert has sought out the musical services of hit-making producer RedOne, the man behind Lady Gaga's two biggest hits and the person frequently credited—aside from the teacup-loving singer herself—with the recent resurgence of glam rock.

Sources tell E! News that Lambert spent the weekend holed up with the "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" producer in a Los Angeles recording studio.

While a label source said Lambert's debut will be heavy on "Queen-inspired" sounds, the guylined rocker has teamed with the Swedish-Moroccan producer (who has also produced for Akon, Enrique Iglesias and Michael Jackson, among others) to look "for a new sound that goes beyond what he did on Idol."

Lambert's debut album is due out this fall on RCA Recordings.

Apparently, this album WILL be released this summer, which we thought was VERY quick. However, we've just learned that the songs on it were recorded in 2007 and 2008, before Lambert was on American Idol.

It's being released by a label other than the one he signed to after he came in 2nd on the show.

But I can probably mention that I played a small solo for Meat .... and ... the mighty John Miceli tracked some incredible drums, for a couple of new songs we're working on for the Kerry Ellis album. It's sounding amazing.

We had fun .... including a spectacular dinner cooked by master chef Cavallo, and the evening capped by us all laying outside on amp covers watching the meteor shower .... it was ... Cosmic !!!

And I was privileged to hear a track that the guys have finished for Adam Lambert ... a song for a forthcoming film, 2012. I have to say I was completely blown away ... it's truly sensational. In fact it's so obviously a number one smash, any bookie would be mad to take bets on it. I am not kidding. I'm not easily moved to jelly by male vocalists ... but Adam's voice reaches out with sensitivity, depth, maturity, and awesome range and power which will make jaws drop all around the world. Its an awesome performance. No doubt about it. The world of Rock has a bright new star.

'AMERICAN Idol" runner- up Adam Lambert is bigger than Madonna and even The Beatles.

Within hours of making his yet-to-be-released album available for pre-order on Amazon.com, a frenzy of ordering drove Lambert's ranking all the way to No. 2 on the online retailer's bestsellers list.

That put Lambert ahead of Madonna, The Beatles and world-wide sensation Susan Boyle.

Lambert's album won't be released until Nov. 24. The only CD that out-ranked him yesterday was Barbra Streisand's first new record in four years.

The sky-rocket sales seem to indicate two things: that "Idol" packs an unprecedented punch in the music business and that Lambert, like Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry in past seasons, may quickly overshadow the singer who beat him in the final vote, Kris Allen.

Remarkably, Lambert's record company, RCA, did not announce that it was taking pre-release orders. The sales were all propelled by word of mouth.

Lambert and his fellow Top 10 "Idols," including Allen and 4th-place finisher Allison Iraheta wrapped up their "American Idols Live" tour a few weeks ago.

Fans, left without their daily fix, have been scouring the Internet for news of their "Idol" favorites.

It was during one of these searches, early Sunday morning, when a Lambert fan discovered that Adam's album was available.

Within hours, word of the album's availability on Amazon spread across the Internet. The online social networking site, Twitter, lit up with the news. Fans traveled from "Idol" blogs to Lambert fanboards to spread the word to other fans. Soon, the album, which has yet to be named, began climbing up the Amazon Bestsellers List.

By late Sunday afternoon, it hit No. 4. Later that evening, it peaked at No. 2.

Lambert has been working on his album with a slew of industry a-listers including Lady Gaga's producer RedOne, One Republic's Ryan Tedder and "Since U Been Gone" hit maker Max Martin.

The album has also made its way onto several critics' "most anticipated" lists.

Adam Lambert lost the last season of "American Idol" to friend (and crush) Kris Allen.

His first album, not due for release until November 24, zoomed to the No. 2 spot on the Amazon.com sales list Monday, behind only Barbra Streisand's much-publicized new jazz album, the New York Post reported.

The distinction ranked Lambert, 27, ahead of Madonna, the Beatles and Susan Boyle on the online retailer's sales list -- and shows that one needn't nab the top title on Idol to win the sales race, as also evidenced by such chart-topping second-place winners as Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken and Chris Daughtry.

Lambert's sales figures are all the more impressive because his label, RCA, made no announcement that the disc could be pre-ordered, so the reaction was basely solely on word of mouth, noted the New York Post.

Collaborating with Lambert on the album are Lady Gaga's producer RedOne, One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Grammy-nominated music producer and songwriter Max Martin.

In a much-quoted Rolling Stone interview, Lambert admitted of eventual "Idol" winner (and Lambert's roommate during the competition) Kris Allen, "He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show ... totally my type -- except that he has a wife."

This prompted Allen to tell PEOPLE, "I'm flattered. And think it's hilarious."

Okay, dear readers, please excuse any typos in the following blog entry. I am to be excused, since my brain is so boggled after getting to visit the 19 Entertainment offices and privately preview three Adam Lambert songs from his upcoming superglamtastic and very aptly titled debut album, For Your Entertainment (out November 23). My black-fingernailed fingers are quivering in almost too palsy-stricken a manner to type, but at the same time I am too excited about the audio glitterbombs that have been blasted directly into my unsuspecting ear canals to wait until I'm fully coherent to share my giddy thoughts. I'd be waiting a good long while, really.

Yes, the music was THAT good, people. It was EXACTLY the extraterrestrial electro-opus I hoped and dreamed it would be. You know how the Glamerican Idol recently told Entertainment Weekly that his album would sound "as if a '70s time-capsule blasted off into space and you're watching it through a holographic filter"? Well, yeah, that sums it up pretty awesomely; I honestly don't know if I can actually top such brilliant wordage. Perhaps Adam should just have my job...if he weren't so busy reinventing the pop wheel, being fabulous, making plans for world domination, daring to dance in the path of greatness, etc.

Now, I know some fans (including myself, to some degree) were thrown a curveball by "Time For Miracles," Adam's classic-rock-leaning, Aerosmithian 2012 power-ballad that didn't seem all that spacey or holographic, to be honest. Certainly that song especially appealed to Adam fans partial to his Idol performances of hoary perennials like Zep's "Whole Lotta Love," U2's "One," Aerosmith's "Cryin'," and Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild," but it was hardly the "rock-pop-electronic-dance thing" Adam once titillatingly promised.

However, Adam Lambert is a complex man with a multiple musical personality, and so I can tell you all, based on the three tracks I heard, For Your Entertainment sounds NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, like "Time For Miracles." These freaky-deaky songs, in all their wondrously neon-lit, mirror-balled, future-shocked, robot-rockin' glory, almost don't even sound like they were recorded by the same artist, the same human being...except for the fact that that voice is unmistakable, of course.

The time for miracles really has arrived now, in the fierce form of these sneak-previewed tracks:

"Entertainment" - The default title track and statement of intent, masterminded by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry) and Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), Adam opens this one up, Rocky Horror-meets-Robbie Williams-style, with the audacious declaration: "I'm here for your entertainment!" And he ain't kidding. This is an ultra-caffeinated party-starter (imagine if Mika, Sam Sparro, and Kevin Rudolf had a threesome that resulted in the conception of a glittery alien baby...if you dare), and it's just begging to be remixed by everyone from Calvin Harris to the Neptunes to Justice--even though it sounds like a shiz-hawt remix already, as is.

"Winners" - A slinky, sexy, salacious dance-rock grinder with a keening, near-orgasmic vocal reminiscent of Adam's watershed "Ring Of Fire" performance, this Rob Cavallo-produced cut cracks open in the middle like a giant whitechocolatespaceegg to reveal a colossal, fist-pumping, Gary-Glittery chantalong chorus that seems lifted straight out of "We Will Rock You 2: Electric Boogaloo." So my guess is Queen's Brian May will be impressed by this massive masterwork, too. A winner, indeed.

"Music Again" - Okay, this is the song, also produced by Rob Cavallo, largely responsible for my current lack of coherence or composure. The minute this glammy tour de force forced its way out of the 19 Entertainment office's speakers, it was so white-hot I was instantly reduced to a puddle of melted spandex and runny eyeliner. A falsetto gang chorus like something off a lost Sweet outtakes album, squalling guitar riffs, pumping "Funkytown" beats...my head was pretty much exploding at this point, but I managed to hold my cranium together long enough to turn to a nearby 19 employee and jokingly state, "This sounds like the Darkness, if the Darkness were remixed." To which the employee answered, "That's funny you say that, because this song was actually written by [legendarily unitarded Darkness frontman] Justin Hawkins, and that's Justin on guitar."

Please read that above sentence again closely, people, and allow the full weight of its awesomeness to sink in. Adam Lambert + Justin Hawkins. ADAM LAMBERT + JUSTIN HAWKINS! Best. Collabo. Ever. Two of the most righteously rockin' and elastically vocal-corded rock gawds of the past 10 years, two of this decade's lone keepers of the glam-rock flame, together at last. As a diehard Darkness fan, I still believe in a thing called love...and I loved this song so much that at this point in the listening session, what was left of my poor throbbing head exploded, and shards of my caved-in skull went flying in all directions across the 19 office like the debris from a busted piñata. I apologize to the 19 office's evening cleaning crew in advance. But hey, I could not help it. Let me state this again, just to be clear: Adam Lambert + Justin Hawkins. Such a skull-shatteringly awesome duet even deserves a new name-smash: Hawkbert. Or maybe Lamkins. Yesssssss.

Wham, bam, thank you Madam, for the glam. I can't wait to hear (and write about) more, if my head can take it...
