Dat wordt hem dus, ik ben niet geheel tevreden met de posities die ik bepaalde albums heb gegeven maar ik heb geen zin om aan het schuiven te blijven. Daarnaast ben ik er bijna zeker van dat ik wat albums over het hoofd heb gezien, maar dit is de eerste keer dat ik zo'n lijst invul, dus de verbeteringen zullen dan waarschijnlijk volgens jaar wel zichtbaar zijn.

Ik verbaas me trouwens over de hoeveelheid metal die ik er in gegooid heb.

7Zuma7 !! Die heb ik net op cd weten te bemachtigen. Goeie lijst verder ruud alleen jammer van bloc party.

Altijd weer een uitdaging Dit jaar heb ik ook jazz-albums opgenomen (wat niet altijd in originele keuzes resulteert, maar ja, Kind of Blue is nu eenmaal een heerlijke ingang naar de jazz voor veel mensen). Voor de rest ontkom ik toch echt niet aan verzamelalbums. Sommige bands / artiesten hebben zo veel goede nummers gemaakt, dat er voor mij geen regulier album is dat een goede collectie overtreft.

Veel recent werk van Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds valt me op. Net als bij Beck, alleen Guero. Ben je gewoon nog relatief jong of vind je dit gewoon de beste platen van deze artiesten?

En wat betreft Beck, tja, het is zo uiteenlopend wat hij doet... Jij vindt natuurlijk dat ik Odelay meer zou moeten waarderen? Wat ik bij Guero waardeer is het experiment. Het combineren van een hiphop-achtige sound (alsmede een latin sound) met andere muziek, dat is iets wat bijna nooit goed gaat. De Gorillaz kunnen het, Beck kan het... Misschien zou ik zijn nieuwste album nog liever in m'n lijst opnemen, maar helaas, dat werk is te recent.
Kortom, ik waardeer het experiment en grote artiesten staan niet stil vanaf een bepaalde leeftijd.

Okee, duidelijk verhaal. Was ook geen aanval verder, maar het viel me gewoon op. Was benieuwd of je beide artiesten net aan het ontdekken was en dus het oudere werk nog niet zo goed kende, maar dat is dus niet het geval. Met name Nocturama vond ik opvallend bij Cave. De dubbelaar kan ik wel inkomen, hoewel ik er zelf minder mee heb dan met de andere albums in mijn lijst.

En Guero is natuurlijk wel een soort mengelmoes van eerdere albums, dus in die zin ook wel te begrijpen. Persoonlijk vind ik trouwens Mutations de beste plaat van Beck.

Het zijn geen "echte" classics, want ik ben pas sinds een jaar of 4 geïnteresseerd in muziek. Vandaar ook dat er veel albums van de periode 2004-2006 tussen zitten.

Je hebt me aan het denken gezet wat betreft Nick Cave. Niet wat betreft de dubbelaar, maar wat betreft Nocturama. Ik maak er toch No More Shall We Part van (ietsje ouder;))... Het blijven moeilijke keuzes... Maar zo'n lijst moet flexibel zijn...
De laatste verandering en dan moet het maar goed zijn voor dit jaar.

Ik denk dat mensen juist bij de bands die ze waarderen ieder nieuw album op voorhand al kritischer bekijken. De kritische bril waardoor ze kijken verliest dan een beetje z'n objectiviteit en bestaat dan voor een groot deel uit onrealistische verwachtingen, denk ik. Maar dat neemt niet weg dat er retegoede debuutalbums bestaan, ja. Ik heb zelf Beautiful Freak van Eels op nr. 2 staan. The White Stripes, ook alweer zo'n moeilijke band Vorig jaar had ik White Blood Cells nog in m'n lijst staan, maar ik heb 'm er nu uit gehaald omdat ik 'm gewoon minder vaak afspeel dan nieuwere albums, dan moet je ook eerlijk tegenover jezelf zijn. Ik denk dat het ook wat heeft te maken met de 'luisterbaarfactor' van een album. Op Elephant hoor ik meer een band die zich heeft ontwikkeld en een unieke stijl heeft en niet alleen maar fijne, gekke bluesrock speelt. Elephant is wat mij betreft een consistenter album. Het debuutalbum van Eels is nog steeds z'n beste, omdat hij daarna, moet ik toegeven, zich niet echt verder heeft ontwikkeld qua stijl, wat niet wegneemt dat er meer fantastische Eels-albums zijn dan Beautiful Freak alleen. Mr. E. wist gewoon al wat eerder hoe hij echt wilde klinken, zo zie ik het...

Tja ik vind electro-shock blues weer veel beter dan beautiful freak... dus het is gewoon maar subjectief he?!

nocturama wordt in veel recensies als een msikleun gezien, maar ik ben het er ver van mee eens.
death man in my bed, he wants you en rock of gibraltar zijn meer dan sublieme nummers. De single "bring it on" ook trouwens.
