A: Ja. 6 maart is hij in ons land en speelt hij samen met de italiaanse band Zu In tivoli oude gracht in Utrecht

Q: Wat is dat Ipecac Recordings
A: Dat is een label opgericht door Mike Patton & greg wreckman en is thuis voor de meest uiteenlopende bands van de post-hardcore van Isis tot de dub van dub trio tot rauwe hip-hop van dälek en zelf pop van immani coppola en northern state hebben hier albums gereleased. Het label gaat contracten aan per cd en is dus ideaal voor one-off projecten.

Ik ook sinds begin dit jaar en issue 11 & 12 gratis

Crudo betekent rauw in het italiaans dus dat belooft wat

Het was erg tof! mike patton & zu. De avond begon met een onaangekondigd (tenminste ik heb het nergens gezien) voorprogramma 'Volt' dat was een erg energieke duitse band die een beetje te omschrijven is als een soort kruising tussen dillenger escape plan en dub trio met zang die nijgt naar noise/funeraldoom zang. Ik was zeker onder de indruk van deze 4 duitsers.

Mike patton en zu ging op eenzelfde voet verder maar voerde de intensiteit op, stuiterende drums, agressief snelle bas partijen overladen met bariton sax (ergens zwevend tussen zorniaans en braxtoniaans) en mike patton verzorgde de 'beats' met flarden zang piepen knorrend hijgend en manipulerend.

Het was echt een super concert, de helft van paradiso was nodig voor het hele orkest. Verder was het een verademing om mike weer eens te horen zingen zonder enige effecten over zn mic. Het spatte er ook van af dat hij het naar zn zin had met allerlei kleine gebaartjes, psycho looks en oprechte dansjes.

het is gelukkig van een stuk betere kwaliteit dan die crappy youtube filmpjes

Gaaf dvdtje hoor, mooie registratie inclusief leuke subtiele toevoegingetjes. Een bliksemende lucht boven het podium etc. Alleen wat een klote publiek daar in engeland de hele tijd dingen lopen bleren tijdens rustige stukken niet normaal meer. Maar al met al heel erg fijne dvd.

Ik hoop dat ze tijdens ATP ook gaan bigbanden onze kaartjes zijn iig besteld en de vlucht geboekt, laat december maar komen

De nieuwe cd van Dälek heeft een erg mooie hoes

ik heb nogal zin in ATP

lijkt me raar maar je weet het nooit

Mijn hoogtepunt was mss wel tcm's stoelgang verhaal

Maarja de hoogtepunten in mijn geval waren: de 2de set van de melvins de 1ste set van de butthole surfers, de dirtbombs, white noise, en alles wat tcm al noemde.

Het grote nadeel aan het festival vond ik de overlappingen alles overlapte wel met iets

daar staat het ook. Als ze op pinkpop komen zou dit jaar een hele mooie editie kunnen worden. Maar zoals ik al eerder zij ik moet het nog zien gebeuren.

I'm spreading the bug, again

Leuke nieuwtjes, 10 feb komt de nieuwe Zu uit 'carboniferous' met medewerking van Patton en King buzzo. Hij is veel meer recht door zee dan ander werk van zu. Maar het rockt als een gek. Volgensmij zitten er wat tracks op waar je patton hoort sputteren tegelijk met te sax en dat klinkt erg gaaf.



Ook komt er later dit jaar een cd uit op ipecac van de Zu Dälek bigband dat moet ook wel iets aparts gaan worden

With their long-awaited album Book of Souls due to hit the shelves this fall, Secret Chiefs 3 have chosen this moment to bring the digital world up to date on some of the clandestine (i.e. vinyl-only) activities of the SC3 “satellite bands.” In 2007, a string of 7-inch records by these groups were all snatched up by fans within just over a month, leaving many potential listeners feeling a bit left out. Web of Mimicry is pleased to announce that eight tracks from UR, Ishraqiyun and Electromagnetic Azoth have made it on to Satellite Supersonic Vol. 1, and five of them are from those coveted 7-inch records!

In true Secret Chiefs 3 fashion, these tracks were not just rehashed “as is” from their 2007 vinyl masters and hastily transferred to bits and bytes. Rather, each track was given a full studio work-over in early 2010 for this CD. The band, which is about to tour Eastern Europe, Turkey and Israel, originally intended this as a low-key tour release, but such new life was breathed into the tunes in the process of remixing them (some of them even having new and expanded arrangements) that the whole project deserved to be presented as something more substantial.

To that end, Satellite Supersonic Vol. 1 really takes off when Secret Chiefs 3 adds a brand new, previously unreleased track to the Ishraqiyun repertoire. Yep, a new one. A killer. Also, an old UR favorite from Book of Horizons (2004) abandons the Secret Chiefs 3 nest completely, in order to roost in a more UR-specific “proto-mix.” No one can say whether this song jumped forward 6 years or back 26… or maybe this is the origi- nal, and the version released in 2004 is an impenetrable hyper-dimension- al layer-cake shakily built upon the more solid foundations heard here.

For good measure, one more song (this time a true uber-rarity of mysterious origin from 1998) completes Satellite Supersonic Vol. 1—a bonus track that is a nostalgic foretaste of ancient things that haven’t happened yet. That’s the speed of it. Seasoned SC3 listeners are accustomed to fast-moving objects in space in the form of satellite bands warping time and tonality along the impossible curvatures of the mother-band’s cosmic-geometrical schemata. And they sit at the center of that universe along with the band, watching it all unfold. But now, with Satellite Supersonic Vol. 1, every listener with a CD player gets a palpable, close-up and intimate view from inside three of the wandering stars in the twinkling SC3 sky.

ik zit er over na te denken om dit te bestellen maar ik heb geen idee wat het precies moet voorstellen. Ik vond V for Vendetta wel cool maar de rest ken ik niet echt. En ik heb ook geen idee wat dit voor verhaal is.

Het is dus alleen een verhaal die als audiobook op LP staat en er zitten wat foto's bij. De muziek lijkt mij de kant op te gaan van moderne hip-hop denk cLOUDDEAD Subtle etc. (al heb ik me nooit echt in die muziek verdiept)

Ben benieuwd hoe de huidige live optredens gaan klinken ik neem aan dat niet het metropool orkest meenemen op tour.
