About as certain as we can get at this point: The new album has been recorded with members of the ESB already having contributed. Additional tracks are being recorded with and without the ESB. As can best be described at this point is the album is a cross between TOL and The Rising with some "rock" songs and a number of songs pared down. Having trouble describing the sound, but a lot of production is being used wth the versions already recorded. Different versions of each song are being recorded (with and without members of the ESB) and the final versions of about half the album have not been settled on. It was agreed to go ahead with announcing a new recording since it is fully anticipated the final recording phases will go very quickly. The good news is a flurry of recording will be ongoing over the next few weeks with August to be the month of final production, etc. Although a given, the album will have a least 10 songs with a goal of about 13 being projected.
What is interesting is the most definitive and positive news relates to the tour, which will be the last for the entire ESB. Rehearsals for the tour are once again scheduled for AP around Labor Day. Look for the tour to kick off on or about 10/02/2007 in New York with a quick swing around the country until the end of November. All of the major cities, to include LA, DC, Philly, Boston, Chicago, etc. will be covered. The month of December will include a quick tour of Europe, about 10 shows or so. January and part of February look to be time off with a full world tour to begin in full effect during the Spring of 2008 (Feb/March) with outdoor arena shows scheduled for the summer of 2008. The U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, will all be on the schedule. Bottom line is that we are now entering the final stages in preparation for the final ESB world tour. Stay tuned.

Anyway I moved away and I now live in Los Angeles and I work publicity
for Sony records. A contact of mine in Sony knows I am a big
Springsteen fan told me he had some info on the new Springsteen CD.
He told me that most of it was recorded in Atlanta and at Bruce's

There's a local (Canadian) arts magazine that I read today, which had an in-depth interview with Brendan Obrien. According to Obrien, the new record will be released as "Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band." No mention as to a specific title for the album.
The album apparently takes a cue from Jackson Browne's Running On Empty. The songs were recorded mostly in one take with Bruce AND the band. Forget all the talk of the different members only coming in to do their specific parts. Also, they recorded material for it everywhere- Obrien specifically mentions Bruce recording with Clarence and Steve backstage during the Devils tour. Apparently they recorded a lot of material at Bruce's house with Landau overseeing the sessions.
Musically, Obrien compared it to Blonde on Blonde. Three song titles were given when Obrien described some of the songs as resembling the Stones' Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street material, as well as resembling some early Faces records. The titles he named were "The Blind Spot," "Taxi Cab Alley," and "One Dead Ringer."

Ben niet heel erg bekend met z'n werk, maar ik vind the Seeger Sessions echt fantastisch, ook meteen het daarna uitgebracht live album gehaald (volgens mij live @ Dublin?). Ik ga me verdiepen
Verwacht niet dat de rest van z'n werk lijkt op het werk met de SSB, hoor. . Maar ik hou je absoluut niet tegen als je je wilt gaan verdiepen. .

She informed me a release announcing the album and acknowledgement of a tour will be released on Monday (though when pressed, she admitted it could be Tuesday, but they are totally preparing for Monday, Aug. 13th.) The announcement will list all song titles, musicians on the album, basic tour structure and some cities. NO TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE NEXT WEEK. I post this so no one here has to constantly refresh their Shore Fire Media homepage during the next 48 hours.
(To those wondering how I have a contact over there: I work in network sports tv and am constantly getting free CDs, invitations to record premiere parties and other goodies from record companies and publicists as I use commercially-issued music in my work. A few CDs or invites are nothing to a company if I elect to use their music on a Super Bowl or Final Four tease or throughout an entire network show, especially if it is new music. Being a Springsteen fan, I have had a contact over at Shore Fire for years and was even invited to the ultra-private show at the Bottom Line on May 6th, 1992 when Bruce premiered songs from both Human Touch and Lucky Town for the first time in front of a public audience -- mostly Columbia execs, staff and invited peeps.)

Ik raad nieuwe fans altijd Greatest Hits of The Essential aan. Staat van alles wat op. Moest ik echt een album aanraden, dan werd het BITUSA en/of The River, de enige albums die ik nog wel eens in zijn geheel opzet.
Bedankt voor alle tips Ben er nog niet aan toegekomen, maar ga zeker even zo'n greatest hits/essential halen, dat zal in ieder geval een goed orientatiepunt zijn Daarnaast waarschijnlijk 1 van z'n eerdere albums, ben altijd wel van de chronologie
Ik zou voor de the essential (limited edition) 3 CD versie gaan, heb je gelijk wat meer "onbekendere" nummers, die ene greatest hits CD is dan toch wel duidelijk de mindere keuze naar mijn idee. En je zou voor de ervaring nog het live 75-85 album er bij kunnen doen..

Word from the Springsteen world is that fans can expect an album that reunites him with the E Street Band following his most recent projects with the Sessions Band exploring vintage American folk and blues songs and his more introspective "Devils & Dust" solo album in 2005. If the participation of the E Streeters turns out to be true, it will be their first album together since 2002's "The Rising."
The Springsteen-centric website Backstreets.com also has been fielding reports of a fall tour for several weeks, and reliable reports suggest he may play at least a couple of shows in October at the Inglewood Forum, the site of some of his high watermark shows of the '70s and '80s. But it also would place fans of this champion of the blue-collar worker in the dilemma of whether to cross a picket line to see him. Workers from IATSE Local 33, the stage employees' union, have been involved in a labor dispute with the Forum's operators since mid-2006.

It's official. Springsteen's first album with the E Street Band since 2002's The Rising drops in less than seven weeks, and it's called Magic. According to manager Jon Landau, quoted in today's press release from Shore Fire Media, this one's a rocker: "Magic is a high energy rock CD. It's light on its feet, incredibly well played by Bruce and the members of the E Street Band, and, as always, has plenty to say. It's also immensely entertaining. Magic is the third collaboration between Bruce and Brendan O'Brien and is a culmination of their very productive creative relationship."
O'Brien produced and mixed the album at his home base in Atlanta, Southern Tracks Recording Studio.
