Beastie Boys #1: The Mix-Up

Ik heb 'm ook dus geluisterd en ik ben een enorme fan op nu dus de laatste twee albums na. 't Is niet verkeerd ofzo, maar ik vind 'm ook een beetje saai. Af en toe een instrumentaal nummer tussendoor zoals op IC en CYH vind ik prima; dan is het een relaxte afwisseling. Een heel album houdt het echter mijn aandacht niet vast. Misschien als ze er nog wat lyrics opzetten, hoewel ik me afvraag of het echt gaat helpen met al die gastartiesten. Gaat dat plan sowieso nog door?

Ik wacht met smart op een album waar ze deze instrumentals afwisselen met hiphop gebaseerd op ouwe samples; Check your head en Ill communication stijl dus. Het geluid op To the 5 boroughs was mij "te clean".

Het is een niet onaardig album. Inderdaad een beetje saai soms. Ik mis het stukje "extra" edge wat ik van de beastie boys verwacht.

Ik vind 'r niet veel aan.. Juist hun manier van rap vind ik cool.. Tja.. en als dat nergens te bekennen is.. dan maar liever oude nummers luisteren!

Het is volgens mij wel goed te luisteren als achtergrondmuziekje als je ergens een half uur zit te wachten! Beetje chillen in de wachtruimte van de tandarts dus..

Ik vind hem nog steeds wel leuk. Het is weer wat anders, en op je walkman is het prima te doen.

Zo, nu iets meer dan een maand later kan ik de cd toch echt waarderen. Hij is heerlijk relaxed en perfect voor achtergrondmuziek, geen party cd uiteraard.

Is de cd bij jullie gegroeid of heb je hem juist niet meer gedraait?

Ik zet hem zeker zo nu en dan nog wel op. Ook leuk voor onderweg.

Kon het centrale Beastie Boys topic niet vinden, maar goed nieuws; Paul's Boutique is eindelijk geremasterd omdat het 20 jaar geleden is dat ie uitkwam. Eindelijk krijgt het album waar het recht op heeft. Een genot voor de oren!

Door het nieuws van Adam ben ik sinds gister weer veel van de Beastie Boys gaan luisteren. Ik had na 5 Boroughs weinig meer van ze vernomen en had nog geen eens door dat ze nog een instrumental album hebben gemaakt.

Gister geluisterd en ik vind m echt tof. Niks onwijs bijzonders, maar erg lekker.

Hoop dat t goed komt met Adam.
