Roger invites David to play in France?
We recently received a email from the website promoting Rogers show at the Magny Cours French F1 on July 14th that Nick Mason has already been confirmed to play. The email suggests two major bits of info that we can NOT confirm is either true or false, one being that a dvd is possible and that Roger invited David Gilmour to play alongside himself and Nick at the event. We can provide the email, but nothing more at this time.
No doubt about it, Roger Waters is gearing up to give us a spectacular and probably unforgettable time come 14 July. His attitude is that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly.
To prove it, he has chosen Groupe F for the special effects. Groupe F, world leader in fireworks provided the firework display at the Eiffel Tower for Millennium Eve, as well as orchestrating all the special effects for French icon Johnny Hallyday’s concert at the Stade de France in 1998, during which the singer notoriously set the stadium on fire! We wouldn’t mind betting that Roger Waters will pull off a similar feat at Magny-Cours, especially when you bear in mind that there’s a 35-metre crane in the list of props...
Eurovision is partnering the concert for a high-definition recording, which rather smacks of a DVD in the pipeline. Negotiations are under way with French mobile operator SFR to broadcast the show using 3G technology, to experience the preparation and the concert in the inner circles. Things are looking good!
Those attending the concert will be able to enjoy all-out quadraphonic sound, thanks to the participation of Patrice Cramer, sound engineer for the benchmark French rock show Taratata, contacted by Roger Waters.
He also phoned David Gilmour a few weeks ago to invite him to join him on stage. Which wouldn‘t be far off an actual Pink Floyd reformation...which Nick Mason hinted at recently in an interview: “You know David is so focussed on his solo career now, he doesn’t have time for Pink Floyd any more, although Roger would be up for it. If David gave the green light we could start getting a new tour ready.
We were famous for our spectacular concerts which were really far out. With the new technology available today, we could work new
miracles...”.

A very strange version of 'Interstellar Overdrive' if I may say so, it starts with drumming and Dave making a peculiar 'birdy' clicking noise on hisguitar , then it goes into sort of a free form jam, one wouldn't think it was 'Interstellar Overdrive' one listened to until the familiar chords sequence set in near the end.

ROGER'S FIRST SHOW LIVE WORLDWIDE BROADCAST
With Roger Waters' opening concert on his 2006 tour a week and a half away, AOL UK have today announced that they will be broadcasting the show live, worldwide!
The concert promises a blend of old Pink Floyd songs (including a second half devoted to their 1973 classic, Dark Side Of The Moon), and Roger's solo material. The concert is being held in Lisbon, Portugal, on June 2nd, and is part of the Rock In Rio festival which takes place over five days. Other stars taking part include Sting and Guns N' Roses.
Sponsored by UK telecoms giant O2, and run in conjunction with Network Live, www.aol.co.uk/rio will be airing the full performances of ALL the artists, free of charge, on May 26th and 27th, and June 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The performances will remain available for 30 days following the show at the same place.
To see and hear Roger in action, you will need to "tune in" at 11:45pm GMT, on June 2nd, when his part of the show is due to start. We understand that he will be performing his full set at this show. As yet, we don't know if this is one of the shows that Nick Mason, his friend and former Pink Floyd colleague, will be guesting at. (braindamage)
