In Algerije is sneeuw gevallen in sommige delen van de Sahara. Dit levert opmerkelijke plaatjes op in de doorgaans zonovergoten woestijn...
Bovenstaande foto's komen vanuit de regio Ain El Safra in Algerije. Het lage druk gebied wat eerdere deze week al voor sneeuwoverlast in Spanje zorgde heeft nu ook Algerije bereikt. De laatste keer dat deze regio berhaupt een vlokje sneeuw zag is in 1979.

Gemiddeld gezien schijnt het warmer te worden, waarom zou je niet kunnen spreken over de opwarming van de aarde?quote:

Ik denk dat het beter is om het klimaatverandering te noemen omdat opwarming in sommige gebieden juist gaat zorgen voor kouder en natter weer. Het brengt vooral extremer weer met zich mee. En wat dat betreft geen gebrek de laatste tijd. Onlangs record temperaturen in delen van australie, en juist extreem lage temperaturen in de VS. Zowel de winters als de zomers worden extremer.quote:

En het is weer raak daar... nu ook het zuidelijke deel van Marokko dat voor het eerst in 50 jaar weer eens sneeuw ziet.

Head of communications at the National Meteorological Directorate blamed the cold weather and southern snow on the influence of a very low pressure area, adding that similar weather (cold, snow and rainfall) should be expected across the country at least until Thursday, February 1.
From 06:00 local time January 28 to 06:00, January 29, Ouarzazate's city center recorded between 1 and 5 cm (0.39 - 1.96 inches) of snow, while Amzri and Imdrasse (surroundings) saw between 22 and 30 cm (8.66 - 11.8 inches) and between 10 and 20 cm (3.93 - 7.87 inches), respectively. Minimum temperatures in this region are expected between -4 and 1 C (24.8 - 33.8 F) and maximum between 5 and 9 C (41 - 48.2 F).
Weather authorities said the cold weather will particularly affect the Rif, Oriental, plateaus of phosphate and Oulmes, the Saiss and the interior plains. Meanwhile, the provinces of Boulmane, Ifrane, Khnifra, Midelt, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Errachidia, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz and Chichaoua will see snowfall.
Autosnelweg van Marrakech naar Agadir. Grappig, het is daar altijd warm als ik er rijd ( in de winter)... en dan zie je precies op die weg dat het nu gewoon sneeuwt.
