GAM Gaming
Game je op de PC of Console of toch liever mobiel of in je browser? Kom je maar niet door een level heen, of is er juist een nieuwe game aangekondigd die je vet lijkt? Hier kun je het hebben over games in de breedste zin van het woord.

Ik ben een PC gamer, MS doet het op alle fronten slechter dan Sony dus ik handel uit logica.

Al ben ik daar nog wel sceptisch over. Je zou in theorie een games library kunnen delen met 10 man door maar 1x het spel te kopen met als enige beperking dat je niet tegelijkertijd kan spelen. Dat klinkt bijna te mooi om waar te zijn.quote:

Aan de ene kant helemaal mee eens dat het te mooi klinkt om waar te zijn, aan de andere kant zal een vriend die jouw shared game speelt en het tof vindt eerder geneigd zijn om samen met jou te willen spelen en dus de volledige versie kopen.quote:

You know what’s the #1 thing bothering me about MS’s newfound policies? It’s not the mandatory Kinect… It’s not even used games… It’s the 24 hour check in period until the system locks down
It seems like nobody’s really grasping the full seriousness of that policy. IMO it’s a middle finger to gaming as a whole. To be told when we’re allowed to play a game is complete hogwash. We are paying customers, how can we be dictated on when we can enjoy an item we fully paid for that is entertainment by nature? This one tiny little sentence on the TOS literally changes the nature of video games and the course of its future. Think about it…
Single player games not being accessible simply because you haven’t logged in online. Just no. I refuse it. New details show this check is only kilobytes of data… even better. I have pretty damn good reliable internet service that doesn’t falter much and I still will not get behind it. Others may have the same as me, and I’m about 85% sure they will regret it in time…
It may be 2 or 3 years after owning an Xbox One, but you WILL eventually forget about it. You’re gonna take that system to Grandma’s, Vacation House, Remote Location, or maybe even as simple as a friend’s basement where there isn’t a strong signal. Everything will be fine for a day, and as soon as you boot up… Nope. Locked out, no games…
It’s amazing just how much this system has split gamers down the middle. There very much so is an “Us Vs. Them” mentality brewing and I do agree that it needs to end. Fellow Gamers aren’t the antagonist here; it’s Microsoft and these ugly draconian policies. What’s even worse is that MS PR has been fueling the fire since Day One of the reveal. They have been taunting and condescending towards anyone with doubts or skepticism regarding their motives. Mattrick recently says "Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called xbox 360".
For an executive to speak in such a snarky tone regarding a legitimate customer concern turns me off immediately. It’s unprofessional and it falls in line with the other shady things the PR team has been doing lately. Corny applause during the reveal, purposely having confusing details in PR statements, Acting as the policies don’t even exist during public showings. They really just don’t get it at all. Even worse is that if CBOAT is to be believed, This “cloud” excuse is pure bullshit to cover their DRM. Doesn’t that fall under false advertising? We have yet to see how this “Cloud” improves gaming. I wouldn’t be surprised if they conveniently forgot about it come time for launch this November.
They want us to create a division amongst ourselves. They’d rather have us take a go at each other than to go against a unified force of gamers questioning the necessity of such brash changes being set as a precedence of moving the medium forward. The pocket gaming media has been fitting the agenda as well but it seems even they are turning around as of lately...
Some arguments for them are a little questionable IMO. I’ve seen the “I don’t want to change discs” one and it pisses me off to no end. If you are that lazy to the point where you don’t want to get up and change a damn disc, stop playing games. How do you get up in the morning? Stop kidding yourself. That’s not moving forward, that’s a small perk you’re trying to mask as some game-changing feature to cover your own laziness. Go outside.
“It doesn’t affect me” is one of the major ones. The DRM wouldn’t affect me as well but I would never support it as the implications resulting from my choice will affect the industry as a whole whether I like it or not. My actions push forward the status quo that Online checks is necessary for single player gaming, because hey… people bought it anyway in Microsoft’s eyes. That’s not a gaming future I wish to play a part in… or have a hand in creating.
MS’s E3 showing was strong. No doubts about it. They had EXCLUSIVES. Killer Instinct looks awesome! As well as Dead Rising 3! Crimson Dragon looks even better! I would love to play those games but it seems that until things change, I’ll be sitting outside the party looking in… And I’m perfectly FINE with it. Because NO game will ever be worth putting up with 24 hour online checks for operation. Not even PowerStone 3 T___T (See what Im getting at?)
The E3 showing was strong because IT HAD TO BE. They have to sell this system. It can’t fail in their eyes. If the games weren’t there, do you really think gamers would give this thing the time of day? That was MS’s only major pull. Everything since 1st reveal has been a blunder IMO.
The question is : Are gamer’s willing to put up with this JUST FOR certain exclusive titles and more restrictions? Even going as far as spending $100 more than the competition?
Is it worth putting up with that much bullshit just for a game or two? I well understand I have NO RIGHT to tell you how to spend your money… But I AM allowed to at least be somewhat concerned. And I’m concerned because it seems those who accept the TOS with Xbox One are trying to convince themselves that this won’t have an effect on the industry at large. This affects EVERYONE. It really does. The result of a successful Microsoft sets a tone and a standard business model that companies are gonna follow year after year..
I feel like MS is laughing at us… They entered the market with a bang… dominated the current gen… and now are pushing to be new market leaders and industry shakers. The first Xbox is one of my top 3 favorite consoles of all time. The 360 is a VERY SOLID successor and a guarantee for a ton of fun but something is missing now with X1… I do not agree with their vision of the industry AT ALL. I literally don’t want them to succeed this upcoming gen because I fear the market change will be negative and I want to people to take a stand for their hobby and fight back. Who knows what they call us under their breath and behind the closed doors of meetings because they sure as hell don’t respect us. That’s readily apparent with all the info that has been available and their conduct that has been shown time and time again.
GAF is the minority. We have an entire uphill battle coming in which the mainstream public will be falling victim to brand familiarity. My only hope is that when they come to terms with the policies put in place by MS, Even they will see just how ludicrous it all really is… or they fall in line and consume the content they’ve been conditioned to enjoy…
But my true main question after the wall of text is…
What are the implications of a successful Microsoft this upcoming gen?
Are supporters aware of the potential changes that may become custom to the gaming industry by a successful Microsoft?
(Also this isn’t an attack on MS. This is my opinion tied to a higher question I’m trying to pose. We ALL KNOW this “controversy” would COMPLETELY DISSAPEAR if MS backed off the DRM policies they pushed. It would arguably be an even more exciting generation and even I would purchase an X1 down the line as a result. ITT : DO NOT ATTACK X1 supporters!!! This is not a hate thread/witchhunt.)

Kijk wanneer Microsoft zegt ¤50 launch titels via Games on Demand en een abonnement ala Netflix zodat je onbeperkt kan gamen voor ¤75 per maand nemen veel mensen die restricties voor lief. Dit is alleen maar negatief.

Voor mij hangt dat meer af van voorkeur en smaak. Mijn voorkeur gaat uit de One omdat ik een Xbox en 360 heb, en nooit wat met PlayStation heb gehad. Daar gaat die $100 weinig aan veranderen. En met die restricties die nu bekend zijn kan ik wel leven.

Gamers zijn gewoon pissed omdat ze moeten inleveren zonder dat het oplevert. Levert het meer op, maakt het niet meer uit. Alleen daarom snap ik Microsoft dus niet. Geef gamers wat en ze accepteren het heus wel, maar geef dan wat.
