The Motocross World Championship is a worldwide motocross series sanctioned by the F.I.M.. It was inaugurated in 1957 using a 500 cc engine displacement formula. In 1962 a 250cc class was added and in 1975, a 125cc class was introduced. Prior to 1957, the championship was known as the European Championship. In 2002, the F.I.M. changed the displacement formulas to reflect the changes in engine technology and as a move towards environmentally friendlier four-stroke engines. The new MX1 class became the premier class, allowing two-stroke engines of up to 250cc and four-stroke engines of up to 450cc. The MX2 class allowed two-stroke engines of up to 125cc and four-stroke motors of up to 250cc. The MX3 class allowed two-stroke engines of up to 500cc and four stroke engines of up to 650cc.
The AMA Motocross Championship is the major motocross series of the United States, held since 1972. It is sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association and managed by MX Sports Pro Racing. The series began in 1972 with the introduction of two classes based on 500 cc and 250 cc engine formulas. A 125 cc class was added in 1974. As motocross technology developed, 500 cc two-stroke motocross bikes became too powerful for the average rider and, faced with diminishing numbers of competitors, the A.M.A. discontinued the 500 cc class after the 1993 season. A women's national championship series was introduced in 1996. Facing tightening emissions regulations, in 1997, the A.M.A. increased the allowable displacement capacity for four-stroke engines, in an effort to encourage manufacturers to develop environmentally friendlier four-stroke machines. In 2006, the 250 cc division was renamed the MX Class, with an engine formula allowing for 150–250 cc two-stroke or 251–450 cc four-stroke machines. The 125 cc class was renamed the MX Lites Class, allowing 0–125 cc two-stroke or 150–250 cc four-stroke engines. In 2009, the MX class was renamed the 450 Class and the MX Lites class was renamed the 250 Class, to reflect the fact that all the competing manufacturers had adopted four-stroke machinery.
The AMA Supercross Championship was derived from the sport of Motocross. While Motocross and Supercross are similar in many respects, there are significant differences as well. For example, the Supercross races are heavily advertised and televised motorsports events held within major cities. Also supercross tracks are more technical, not as fast as motocross but with a much higher difficulty level, further adding to the injury risk factor. While growing consistently since the '70s, in the early part of the 21st Century Supercross' popularity really took off. In the United States, Supercross races today are the second most popular form of motorsport (behind NASCAR racing). The American Motorcyclist Association awards three Supercross Championship Champs each year. They are Supercross Champion which until 2006 was referred to as 250 class, Supercross Lites East (which was the 125 East) Champion, and Supercross Lites West Champion. World Supercross Champions are named by other racing organizations around the world. Supercross racing classifications were governed by the displacement of the motorcycle's engine until 2006. In the past, Championships have been awarded in 125cc (also known as "MX2"), 250cc ("MX1"), and 500cc displacement levels (also known as "MX3"). The 250cc Champion has always been generally considered to be the most prestigious.

In a very friendly atmosphere, all the 2012 FIM Motocross World Champions were awarded, as well as all the best partners in this season that is getting to its end.
Paul Malin and Amy Dargan, two of the best well-known faces among the paddock, presented the ceremony to the around 470 guests and the entire paddock could also follow the ceremony thanks to big screens situated around the track. Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream’s president, Mr. Vito Ippolito, FIM President, and Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS Director, welcomed everybody and they handed the awards to the 2012 FIM Motocross World Champions.
Among the awarded personalities, there was Roger De Coster, who received the Lifetime Career Award together with a beautiful painting by Rob Kinsey, and Massimo Zanzani was also recognized for his long career as photographer in the FIM Motocross World Championship. Paul Malin was surprised by Amy Dargan when she announced that the former MXoN winner had been awarded for being a great ambassador of the series and Paul Malin also received a fantastic painting by Rob Kinsey.
The organizers of the MXGP of Brazil, which took place in Beto Carrero, received the award for the best MX1 and MX2 organizer of the year, and the Italian track of Arco di Trento was the best organizer of the FIM MX3 World Championship. The Russian organizers were recognized for their great cooperation with Youthstream during the whole 2012 season and the Bulgarian Grand Prix received the award of the best MX1/MX2 paddock.

Marc de Reuver zal terugkeren naar het merk waarop hij zijn allereerste GP zege won, Marc zal het seizoen afmaken op een KTM 450F van LV Motors binnen het Stabilo Pro Grip MX Team.
Aankomend weekend zal Marc aanwezig zijn op het KTM weekend in Eindhoven en volgende week zondag komt hij aan de start bij de laatste wedstrijd om het ONK in Harfsen.
Stoelendans 2013: Glenn Coldenhoff naar Standing Construct Racing in 2013
Volgend jaar zien we Glenn Coldenhoff, die dit weekend nog schitterend presteerde in de GP van Lierop, terug op een Standing Construct KTM. Voor zowel Standing Construct als Glenn is de samenwerking een volgende sportieve stap.
Gezien de progressie die Glenn dit jaar als rijder maakte en de zekerheid over fabrieksmateriaal voor 2013 voor het Standing Construct team zijn alle troeven voorhanden voor een succesvol seizoen. Afgelopen jaar reed dit team nog met Suzuki's en door de samenwerking met KTM blijft Glenn dus ook op KTM.
En dan hebben we nog de vierde KTM rijder Davy Pootjes, die gaat volgens mij de EK 125cc rijden, dat dit jaar werd gewonnen door Tim Gajser. Pootjes is 14 en mag dus nog geen WK MX2 rijden maar misschien zien we hem zodra hij 15 is wel wat GP's mee pikken bij het KTM Fabrieksteam waar hij onder contract staat net als Herlings.

Hij reed 22 ronde's en alleen Shaun Simpson bleef in dezelfde ronde, Ken de Dijcker werd derde op een ronde van Herlings. De race duurde drie uur en het was de 30ste editie, gemiddeld duurde één ronde dus 8 minuten en 18 seconden.
Jammer dat ze zo'n strandrace niet meer in Nederland doen.
With an estimated 65,000 strong crowd over the RHL Beach Race weekend, the star riders raced against the amateurs in a 500-strong entry for this afternoon’s solo race, where Weston debutant de Dycker took the early lead in the unusual October sunshine.
The tall Belgian racer tackled the dunes with anger aboard his KTM 450, which saw him go over the bars after hitting a boggy section, and with having to make extra fuel stops unlike his competitors, Simpson was able to get by after a handful of laps. Into the middle-part of the 30th anniversary event Monster Energy Yamaha’s Simpson, whose father Willie won the race in 1983, had pulled a good lead, but he got a little excited and made a bad line-choice while weaving past slower riders, which sent him over the bars.
The 24-year-old Scottish racer had to make an extra stop to check things were okay, as he thought he had damaged a radiator after a collision, allowing 18-year-old Dutchman Herlings to take the lead. In the final hour it was all about who could stay strong and nurse their hard worked machines to the end of the chaotic race, which comprises of dunes the size of a small house and over a mile long straight. De Dycker had pitted four times to Simpsons three, and Herlings capitalised with just two stops and some calculated riding to take victory aboard his KTM 350 machine at his first attempt.
Honda man Brad Anderson, who has recently returned to the UK a season racing in Australia, was looking to improve on his podium finish from last year, but he lost the use of his back brake early on and ended the day fifth behind Nathan Watson.
Local-man Tom Church from Bath, who was runner-up last year after leading for much of the race, had a disastrous time, as his bike broke after just over one lap. Earlier in the day Joseph Ruby took the youth quad three class win, with Lestyn Rowlands taking victory in the youth quad two class and Callum Brooks in the youth quad one race.
Tommy Clarke won the small wheel 85cc class, while Isle of Man’s Jed Etchells, who won the 65cc class last year, put on a great performance to finish second, with Welshman Josh Greedy third. In the 85cc big wheel class local man Todd Kellet from Langport put on a sterling performance to take the win with Alfie Bowtell second and Josh Coleman third.
Jeffrey Herlings – adult solo race winner “It was really good. I was surprised how well it went, as I paced myself in the beginning to save my energy. I was about 30 seconds back, but I cruised around and only had to do two pit stops for fuel, which helped. It was really something I liked to do, and it’s way different than riding normal motocross or GP’s. I loved it, so maybe it’s something to do again in the future, and I definitely think everyone should have a go at racing it at least once in their lifetime. I didn’t expect to win the first time, so I’m quite surprised with the result. I had a couple of crashes, went through the fence really fast at one point, but anyway congratulations to Shaun in second and Ken in third because it was really tough. The straight was really cool, as you can get to over 100mph, which is an amazing feeling and I loved it. The atmosphere was great and you can’t ride race speed with the amateurs, as they go left to right, right to left and you’re not always sure where they are going to start or end, but it was a lot of fun to be with them. That part was particularly difficult, not to crash with the other guys, but a big thanks to KTM for giving me a great bike. It was really well organised, the flag marshalls were good and it wasn’t dangerous at all, as I thought it might be, which was positive. I am really glad I came.”
Shaun Simpson – adult solo second place “It’s been a great weekend and good to be part of. I am just really happy we got round in one piece. Everything went well apart from having a crash when I got a bit excited in the lead and I also had to make an unexpected pit stop. I was behind two guys on a jump and there were two main lines, but I thought I could make a new one to get by, and I went over the dune to find there was a big soft part at the back end of it, which sent me over the bars. I thought I broke my radiator too after colliding with someone, but it was a good event and I definitely need to be back next year to take the win. It’s nice to see so many people getting behind a motorcycling event, and it’s a bit different for everyone, so I was pleased to see it so well supported.”
Ken de Dycker – adult solo third place “My race went okay, but on the first lap I was a bit crazy and tried to jump things that just weren’t possible. I crashed a few times and got my bike stuck. It was a really fun race and I’ve never done anything like it before. Racing against the amateurs was the funniest part; seeing everyone in front of you doing some crazy things and I was just laughing in my helmet going round. I’d really like to do this again but we had to stop four times, as I had a smaller fuel tank than the others. It has been a great weekend overall.”
Gareth Hockey – Director of RHL Activities “It’s been a fantastic weekend for us. I’d say it’s possibly one of the best events we have organised, and while I always want more to find perfection, I can be satisfied with how everything went. The feedback we’ve had has been excellent, the racing was good, and we’ve put the event back on track after a difficult few years. In de 85cc ging het tussen Davy Pootjes en Bas Vaessen, vooraf was er maar één punt verschil in het voordeel van Pootjes. In de eerste manche won Pootjes met Vaessen als tweede en in de tweede manche won Vaessen en werd Pootjes kampioen door als tweede te eindigen met 313 punten om 312 punten.
In de 125cc stond Jaap Corneth 18 punten vóór Jeffrey Ebbers en Jaap was met de winst in de eerste manche naar 21 punten voorsprong gekomen nadat Ebbers als tweede over de finish kwam. In de tweede manche won Ludovic Brevers zijn eerste ONK manche dit jaar met Freek van der Vlist op de tweede plek en de Nederlands kampioen daar weer achter met een totaal overwinning in Harfsen terwijl Ebbers als vierde eindigde.
In de MX2 was het al beslist maar Herlings had zowaar een uitdaging omdat hij in zowel de MX2 als in de MX1 mocht deelnemen...

In de MX1 werd Herjan Brakke Nederlands kampioen met een achtste en elfde plaats omdat kampioenschapsleider Evgeny Bobryshev in de eerste manche zwaar ten val kwam en het in de tweede manche voor gezien hield.

Villopoto is de kampioen van de afgelopen 2 jaar en Justin Barcia (250cc East kampioen van 2011 en 2012) gaat de overstap maken naar de 450cc. Daarnaast natuurlijk de 450cc kampioen 2010 Ryan Dungey, 450cc kampioen 2004 en 2008 Chad Reed en 450cc kampioen van 2007 en 2009 James Stewart aan de start met ook nog Trey Canard, Kevin Windham, Tyla Rattray (wereldkampioen MX2 2008), Davi Millsaps en velen anderen.

Italiaans Kampioenschap begonnen met die MX1&MX2 race waarbij Kullas 10de werd...
The beginning of the 2013 Internazionali dItalia took shape today in Riola, Italy, attracting a host of GP riders from all over Europe. In the individual classes, it was FIM Motocross MX1 World Champion Antonio Cairoli who dominated the MX1 class followed by Ken De Dycker in second, Evgeny Bobryshev third, David Philippaerts fourth and Joel Roelants in fifth.
In the MX2, Harri Kullas proved he is in top form taking the win ahead of Christophe Charlier in second, Jeremy Seewer third, Ivo Moticelli fourth and Alexander Tonkov in fifth.
The day concluded with a mixed class race, combining MX1 and MX2, resulting in another win from Red Bull KTM Factory Racings Antonio Cairoli ahead of team mate Ken De Dycker. Steven Frossard was third, Joel Roelants fourth and Evgeny Bobryshev completed the top fifth. Davide Philippaerts was sixth, Davide Guarneri seventh, Christophe Charlier eighth, Shaun Simpson ninth and Harri Kullas rounded out the top 10.
Europes largest and most renowned beach race took also place today on the beach of Le Touquet, France. GP riders Milko Potisek, Julien Lieber, Nicolas Aubin, Steve Ramon and Livia Lancelot were amongst the 1100 riders that begun the three hour beach race. The race was red flagged one hour short of the total duration due to high tides, leaving Milko Potisek second, Nicolas Aubin seventh, Steve Ramon twenty-first and Womens Motocross star Livia Lancelot forty-seventh. Julien Lieber was forced to DNF due to mechanical failure. Jean Claude Mousse won Le Touquet race for second year in a row.

The Grand Prix of Qatar is less than a month away and already the excitement for this event is at boiling point. Everyone involved in the FIM World Motocross Championships can't wait to get to Qatar and check out not only the beautiful city, but also the facility where the opening round will be held.
For the riders it is going to be a late one with the Saturday evening SUPERFINAL being run at 23.10, which is actually 21.10 European time (Qatar is two hours ahead of Europe). Everyone should be happy with the old qualification format returning on Friday as around 60 or so riders try and make the Saturday night SUPERFINAL. Then on Saturday night we have an MX1 moto, and MX2 moto the last chance and of course the SUPERFINAL.

Aanstaande zaterdag het WK MX1&MX2 van start in Qatar vanaf 20 uur s' avonds, de allereerste avondrace en een week later de tweede GP in Thailand.
Herlings en Cairoli reden onlangs nog tegen elkaar in Italië waarbij Cairoli uitviel en Herlings won op zijn 250cc.

Bron: Omroep Brabantquote:LOMMEL (B) - Motorcrosser Jeffrey Herlings uit Elsendorp is dinsdagmiddag hard ten val gekomen tijdens een training op het circuit van Lommel. Herlings verloor in een bocht de controle over zijn motor en blesseerde bij de val zijn linker bovenbeen. Dat leverde hem een flinke bloeduitstorting op.
Volgens Herlings is de blessure niet ernstig. Hij vertrekt woensdag gewoon naar Qatar, daar wordt komend weekend de eerste Grand Prix gereden die meetelt voor het wereldkampioenschap. Voor de zekerheid laat hij dinsdagavond nog wel een arts naar zijn blessure kijken.
Longontsteking
De blessure is al een tweede tegenslag voor Herlings in zijn voorbereiding op het nieuwe seizoen. In december kreeg hij een longontsteking, daardoor kon hij vier weken niet trainen. Zijn voorbereiding bleef zodoende beperkt tot acht weken.
Herlings verdedigt komend seizoen zijn wereldtitel in de MX2. Die won hij vorig seizoen met overmacht. Dit seizoen wil hij alle manches winnen.
Herlings en Coldenhoff waren de snelste in de vrije training.
Defending World MX1 Champion Antonio Cairoli has won the MX1 qualfication in easy fashion after leading from the first corner. Cairoli led home Clement Desalle and Evgeny Bobryshev. In the MX2 moto a big surprise as Frenchman Valentin Teillet won after series favorite Jeffrey Herlings crashed out in the opening corner.
Valentin Teillet pulled of an early shock as he won the opening qualification race of the 2013 season. After a first corner crash by Herlings and bad starts by the other two favourites in the MX2 class, Jake Nicholls and Arnaud Tonus this race showed plenty of surprises.
The final race standing was Teillet from Glenn Coldenhoff, Jose Butron, Max Anstie, Jordi Tixier and Dean Ferris. Herlings came back from 16th on the opening lap to 8th place, although with the circuit being run in the evening and rather flat due to wanting a lack of shadows the speed of all the riders was very similar, making it difficult for Herlings and other riders involved bad starts or crashes making up ground.
Disappointments were Arnaud Tonus in 11th place, Elliot Banks-Browne in 20th and very unfortunate Romain Febvre who had actually battled for the lead but fell out of the race with mechanical problems. Mel Pocock also DNFed after holding down 6th place on the first lap.
In the MX1 moto it was all Antonio Cairoli who won from Clement Desalle, Evgeny Bobryshev, Ken De Dycker, Steven Frossard, Max Nagl, Tommy Searle, Kevin Strijbos, Davide Guarneri, Gautier Paulin, Shaun Simpson, David Philippaerts, Rui Goncalves, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Tanel Leok, Jonathan Barragan and Joel Roelants. Apart from a little bit of action between Searle and Strijbos this was a pretty uneventful race.

Clement Desalle: "It is a good feeling to start the season with the red plate but it doesn't mean so much because the year is very long. I have always said that when I have fun on my bike, then the results go well and that's really important. I didn't make many mistakes today and my starts were much better than we saw in the pre-season races; that was a good point. I had some difficult moments last season and also coming back from some injuries, but I feel good on the bike now and wasn't pushing too hard. I want to say a big thanks to my team because they made a big job in the last few weeks. It was tough to start the championship a month earlier than usual."
Dean Ferris: “Obviously it’s good to be on the podium and the season could not have started in a better way. In the first moto I got a decent start and I really pushed to stay with the front group but I couldn’t do it. In between motos we spoke with the team and we agreed to change gearing to try and improved the set-up and it worked. I’m sure my lap-times were better in the Superfinal and I didn’t have to push the limit. I was second and there was not much more I could do so I just brought it home. I didn’t think too much about the Superfinal before we came here but I’m glad we got in the gate before the 450s so they couldn’t close us down too much at the start. I’ve raced quite a bit of supercross in Australia so the lights were OK for me. The hardest thing was trying to see areas of traction in the dirt but the lighting was good. I hope when I get a bit more comfortable I can try to get closer to Jeffrey’s speed but the goal right now is to get on the podium every weekend. I was excited out there, battling all those 450s and I’m well aware that Andrew was the last Aussie rider up here and he also did it with Steve (Dixon, Team Manager) so that was nice. I think the Yamaha is definitely the best bike I have ridden for any team that I’ve represented. The guys put in a lot of work to make it the best and that gives me a lot of confidence.”
Gautier Paulin: “The track was very fast today, much easier than during the qualification. I had fun except during the first race when I crashed pretty hard on my head. It took me two laps to recover, and then I had a better feeling and passed Bobryshev on the last lap. In the Superfinal I lost too much time passing slower riders in the early laps, but I passed Bobryshev for third in the last five minutes and even got close to Desalle in second. I’m happy with this third position; it’s a great reward for the team staff who worked hard this winter.”
Tommy Searle: “I struggled a little bit with the track in the first moto; it was a tough race as I didn’t have very good lines and it was difficult to change and find better lines. I took a better start in the Superfinal, found good lines and was happy to already be as fast as the established riders in the class in my first race. My times were pretty fast in this race; I’m right there and my pace is where I need to be.” Jeremy Van Horebeek: “I broke one finger of my hand four weeks ago; normally it would take six weeks to recover but together with the team we decided to come here to race. It was a tough GP for me; I don't have enough power in my hand and that makes it difficult to hold the bike; I scored a few points and will try again in Thailand, but my goal is to be ready for Valkenswaard.”
Kevin Strijbos: "I can be happy to start with sixth. I got a holeshot in the first race and led for the first six laps and Ken de Dycker was pushing me and I was a bit stressed. I made some mistakes and people overtook me but I recovered from that moment to be steady again. I wasn't too happy with how I rode and I gave myself another chance by getting around the first corner in second place in that next moto. I pushed as hard as I could. I would love to be top-five but it was a solid way to start. I think other people had a worse day than me."
Christophe Charlier: “I'm happy with my race and had a good feeling on my bike after we made a couple of changes. I hesitated at the start of the Superfinal and I paid for it because it was very hard against the 450s. Now we'll continue to work and I want that podium in Thailand.”
Evgeny Bobryshev: “It’s been a fairly good day for us. In the first race I got a good start and I was second behind Strijbos. I tried to pass him, but made a mistake, so I slowed for a few laps before pushing again. Ken got me a little later, so I was third for quite a long time, then in the last few laps I wasn’t feeling physically tired, in fact there was definitely more in the tank, but I lost a little concentration. Tony passed me in that time, and when I saw two laps to go I tried to close the gap, but I just couldn’t make their speed. In the last lap Paulin managed to get me, which was really disappointing, but fifth place was a decent start to the year. In the second race I got a good start going full gas to the first turn. I was with the top three guys again, but dropped to fourth and the top guys were just a little quicker than me. I have to be happy with the results, because it’s a strong start to the season for m e after a long time away from racing at the front with those guys. I feel good with the bike and the team, so thanks to everyone for their hard work, and thanks to my wife and new daughter Eva who were watching back home.”
Max Anstie: "I made my life hard work today. I had an easy top-five run going in the first race until that crash. I'm not sure if it was the trip from the U.S. to here or the fact that I've been a bit sick the last few days but I haven't felt 'on it' all weekend. I put in some good times and the bike has been working really well...I just haven't felt sharp. I tried to push through it but ended up making mistakes. It's frustrating because I know I should be up there battling at the front. All we can do it keep trying and look to next weekend."
Xavier Boog: "My weekend wasn't good, I am really disappointed. My goal is much higher. Small things went wrong, the slip yesterday in the qualifying caused unnecessary pain today. I want to improve, so the focus is now in the training. In the first moto I had a bad start and it was difficult to come back. I crashed and that made it worse. I was far behind and had a goggle problem. Overall it was pretty bad! The second time I had a poor place on the gate and again tried to recover. To finish eighth is not a good result but my riding wasn’t too far away. The season is very long and I know that race by race I will get better.”
Alessandro Lupino: “The MX2 race was pretty good; I had a good feeling with the bike and, after starting in the top fifteen, I finished sixth. My start in the Superfinal was good, maybe tenth or twelfth against the 450s, but another rider ran straight into me at the second corner and pushed me out of the track. I came back onto the track in last position and it was tough to find my good rhythm against the 450 riders .”
Valentin Teillet: “It was a great surprise for me to win the qualifying race, but it gave me more confidence for the GP races. I was fourth in the MX2 race when I had a small problem which forced me to go into the pits and when I got back in the race I crashed and had to retire, so I had to go through the Last Chance race to qualify for the Superfinal. That made it a long day. I didn’t have so much time to recover before the last race and I had a very bad position on the grid so I got a bad start which made life difficult against the 450 on this track.”

Herlings had met nog 2 ronde te gaan bijna Desalle ingehaald maar na één poging leek het alsof er wat met hem of de motor aan de hand was want hij ging niet meer zo hard. Na afloop zei Herlings dat hij de race gewoon rustig uit wilde rijden aangezien hij de GP voor MX2'ers toch al in de pocket had.

Daniël Willemsen (37) gaat het gevecht aan om zijn elfde wereldtitel met troonopvolger Etiënne Bax.
Met het kleine broertje, Robbie Bax, van zijn grootste concurrent als wapen in de bak stapt Daniël Willemsen morgen in Oss voor het twintigste jaar op rij het strijdperk binnen. De Lochemse heerser van de zijspancross gaat tegen de verwachtingen in op jacht naar een elfde wereldkampioenschap.
De titanenstrijd met Etiënne Bax belooft vuurwerk op de Europese crosscircuits, maar bezorgt Willemsen al lang geen slapeloze nachten meer. De topsporter is liefhebber geworden.
In de werkplaats in het Gelderse Veldhoek doen de blinkende en hagelnieuwe zijspanframes haast pijn aan de ogen. Met vrouw Diana legt Daniël Willemsen de laatste hand aan de voorbereidingen op het nieuwe seizoen. "En deze machine is niet eens van mij", stelt de 37-jarige zijspanlegende, terwijl hij de remkabel vastmaakt. "Tot vorig jaar was ik in de dagen voor de wedstrijd alleen met mezelf en de machine bezig. Nu zijn andere aspecten belangrijk."
In Oss start morgen het seizoen voor de zijspannen met het Open Nederlands Kampioenschap. Voor Willemsen een bijnummer en een ideale plek om zijn maatschappelijke tentakels verder uit te spreiden. "Ik geef advies en help de crossers tussen wedstrijden door", stelt de Achterhoeker, eigenaar van Willemsen Sidecar Products (WSP). "Zijspancross kost klauwen vol geld en sportief heb ik niet het eeuwige leven. Bij WSP ligt mijn toekomst, niet in het zand. Het is mooi om de beste te zijn en wereldkampioen te worden, maar wat levert het uiteindelijk op?"
Met een schalkse blik opzij stuit Willemsen op zes gigantische trofeeën van bijna een meter hoog die staan te verstoffen in de hoek van de werkplaats. "Ik ben trots op mijn carrière, maar veel wijzer ben ik van de sport nooit geworden. Ik heb de A-status van sportkoepel NOC*NSF, krijg een vergoeding, maar in feite nemen ze mij en mijn sport niet serieus. Ik ben tien keer wereldkampioen, maar heb zelfs nog nooit een nominatie tot sportman van Nederland gehad. Begrijp me goed, Epke Zonderland is op en top sportman en zo zijn er nog veel meer, maar mij noemen ze op die gala's niet eens... Net als Jeffrey Herlings (wereldkampioen MX2, red.) word ik met de nek aangekeken door die mafkezen daar, terwijl wij vijtien tot twintig wedstrijden per jaar op topniveau presteren. Het is gewoon een grote vriendjespolitiek. Mij zien ze nooit meer."
Zijn vijfde Hans de Beaufortbeker - de hoogst onderscheiding in de Nederlandse motocrosswereld - en de huldiging in Monaco van de wereldorganisatie FIM maakten wel wat goed voor Willemsen. "In de motorwereld weet iedereen wel hoe uniek mijn prestatie is", stelt de man die in september de legendarische cross-Belg Stefan Everts evenaarde met de tiende wereldtitel. "Dat was echt een heilig doel voor mij. Een elfde wereldtitel heeft geen meerwaarde meer, want ik kan de reacties nu al invullen. 'Hij zal wel geen tegenstand gehad hebben...' Ach, het is het noodlot van een topsporter in een kleine tak van sport."
De tijden dat Team Willemsen met ruim een ton aan euro's door Europa trok is al lang voorbij. Bakkenist Robbie Bax houdt zijn eigen broek op. "Het is geen vetpot als voorheen, maar ik ga wel het volledige WK rijden."
Die begint op 31 maart in het Zwitserse Frauenfeld. Behalve Willemsen is vice-wereldkampioen Etiënne Bax de belangrijkste gegadigde. "Met Robbie heb ik het broertje van Etiënne in de bak staan. Mooier kan toch niet? Dat wordt een fantastische strijd. Robbie heeft het in zich een top-bakkenist te worden."

De KNMV heeft de volgende rijders een wildcard toegewezen voor deelname aan de wedstrijd om het WK Motocross op tweede paasdag (1 april) in Valkenswaard: MX1: Marc de Reuver en Rick Satink. De vaste Nederlandse WK deelnemer Herjan Brakke is helaas langdurig geblesseerd en zal voor deze wedstrijd worden vervangen door Erik Eggens.
MX2: Micha Boy de Waal en Brian Bogers, die dus naast de vaste WK-deelnemers Jeffrey Herlings en Glenn Coldenhoff in deze klasse zullen uitkomen. Herlings geldt als grote favoriet, zeker na zijn klinkende overwinningen in Qatar en Thailand.

Erik Eggens: Ik kijk nu al uit naar de GP in Valkenswaard
Beste fans, sponsors en vrienden,
Ik ben blij verrast over de enorme hoeveelheid reacties die ik mocht ontvangen op de bekendmaking van mijn deelname aan de GP van Valkenswaard vanuit het JK-SKS-Gebben Yamaha team.
Toen de teamleiding mij vroeg, heb ik gelijk positief gereageerd. Uiteraard moeten er dan een hoop zaken geregeld worden voordat het plan definitief gestalte kan krijgen. Naast het feit dat ik het super vind om weer aan een GP mee te mogen doen en weer de sfeer te proeven van weleer, help ik graag het team waar ik met veel plezier deel vanuit maak. Ook is het voor mij een hele eer om te mogen rijden voor zoveel toeschouwers die mij toch in alle actieve jaren erg gesteund hebben.
Ik kijk nu al uit naar de GP. Voel me erg goed en ben klaar om twee manches te knokken op het mooie circuit in Valkenswaard. Het circuit heeft me altijd goed gelegen en heb er altijd genoten van de vele Nederlandse en Belgische toeschouwers. Het zal niet eenvoudig gaan worden tussen de MX1 mannen, maar zal proberen om mijn teammaatje Herjan Brakke op een zo goed mogelijke manier te vervangen. De keuze om op een YZ250 2-takt van start te gaan was voor mij een must.
Voor mijn gevoel komt dit dichter bij mijn rijstijl en dichter bij het karakter van de YZ250F, waar ik het hele jaar de ONK wedstrijden mee rijd. Hierdoor zal ik de manches waarschijnlijk in een betere totaal tijd af kunnen leggen. Het zal zeker ook wennen zijn om tussen de mannen te staan, waar ik normaal iets over vertel vanuit de Motors TV studio.
Hierbij wil ik het JK-SKS-Gebben Yamaha team bedanken voor het vertrouwen en de kans om weer te deelnemen aan een Nederlandse GP, tevens wil ook iedereen bedanken voor alle positieve reacties.
Ik hoop jullie allemaal te zien in Valkenswaard.

There is something about Valkenswaard that the Factory KTM riders just love. KTM have won 9 of the last 10 MX2 GPs in Valkenswaard, and KTM riders Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings have won seven of the last eight overall victories in Valkenswaard in the MX1 and MX2 class.
Records are set to be broken in 2013 and those two men (Cairoli and Herlings) stand at the top of the list for being the record breakers.
The greatest Grand Prix rider of all time Stefan Everts (KTM MX2 team manger) has the most amount of GP wins at the Valkenswaard circuit with five GP victories. Everts won in 1992, 94, 95, 96 and also in 2004, before the circuit went on a two year departure from the FIM World Motocross Championships.
The "New Everts" Antonio Cairoli has four victories at Valkenswaard, with wins in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Cairoli will try and equal the effort by the Belgian sand master this coming weekend.
No rider has ever won four Grand Prixs in a row at Valkenswaard; Jeffrey Herlings will go for his fourth GP victory in a row at the sand track on the outskirts of Eindhoven. For Cairoli it is the same story, five wins at Valkenswaard, and four in a row are in his sights.
Both Cairoli and Herlings will try and achieve what many riders would see as impossible as they lead the Red Bull KTM Factory team into the third round of the 2013 MX1 and MX2 Championships.
Amazingly the MX2 class has been dominated by KTM riders since it was South African Grant Langston winning in 2000 on a Factory KTM, followed by KTM CHAMP rider Erik Eggens winning in 2001. Steve Ramon also a member of the CHAMP KTM team would win in 2002 and 2003, while Ben Townley would win in 2004.
Only Cairoli who won the 2007 MX2 class on a Yamaha (after Valkenswaard missed 2005 and 2006 on the calendar) has broken a complete KTM stranglehold on this track. Tyla Rattray won on the KTM in 2008, followed by Rui Goncalves winning (again on KTM) in 2009, before Jeffrey Herlings would take victories aboard his factory KTM in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The big question mark is will it be Cairoli or Herlings who makes history in Valkenswaard, and will both stand on top of the podium at the end of the Easter Monday and once again show why KTM are considered the owners of this beautiful sand circuit in Holland.

Team CLS MX2 Kawasaki Monster Energy Pro Circuit has signed 21 year old New Englander Jimmy Decotis for the remainder of the 2013 FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship series. It was with great relief that CLS team owner Jean-Jacques Luisetti was able to announce his new signing after a devastating start to the 2013 MX2 GP season for the team.
"We had been so confident of further success this year and the injuries to Arnaud Tonus have been a terrible blow to both the rider and the team after our winter of preparation. At the moment we simply cannot say how long it will be before Arnaud receives the green light to race again; he has been back for further examination and the medical advice is that he should rest for 15 days before he even tries to ride again and he may not race until he feels no pain whatsoever.
"It is impossible to predict a date for Arnaud's return to racing so we had to respect our commitment to all of our sponsors; they have a right to expect results and CLS has a long record of delivering success. In fact it was Mitch Payton of Pro Circuit and Mitch Covington of Monster Energy who put us in contact with James Decotis; I have only spoken to James on the phone so far, but I was immediately very impressed by his seriousness and professional attitude which confirmed the belief shown in him by Pro Circuit and Monster Energy. James will fly to Europe as soon as possible and we will immediately begin testing and training together; he will be at the start in Italy next week racing #613 and we confidently expect him to put the KX250F back on the podium.
"Our contract with James is for the remainder of the 2013 GP season and, when Arnaud is ready to return to racing, we will enter three riders in the series together with Alessandro Lupino. If all goes to expectations, James will also have the opportunity to stay with CLS in 2014."
Decotis (21) from Peabody/Massachusetts has been a leading privateer on the US motocross and supercross circuit for a couple of years and has recently recorded three top ten finishes against the factory riders in the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series.
Kawasaki Motors Europe Race Planning Manager, Steve Guttridge, welcomed the signing: “This is a typically pro-active move by Team CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy Pro Circuit and reflects the global nature of their influence. Jimmy Decotis is widely recognised as a bright young talent; his involvement is sure to be a great addition to the team.”

Als Herlings dit jaar zijn titel prolongeert dan zal hij volgend jaar in de MX1 rijden, ik ben daar nu al benieuwd naar. Ze zijn dan teamgenoten en hopelijk zijn er dan geen teamorders zodat Herlings de strijd aan kan gaan met Cairoli. De 18 jarige Elsendorper heeft nu aan 18 manches deelgenomen in de MX2 klasse in 2013 en won ze allemaal. Hij won achtereenvolgens in Arco di Trento (Italiaans kampioenschap) daar won hij zelfs de MX1+MX2 race op een 250cc.
Daarna won Herlings de allereerste GP's in Qatar en Thailand waarna hij ook de eerste twee ONK's won in Halle en Oldebroek. Daarna was het weer de beurt aan het WK waarin hij zijn ongeslagen status in Valkenswaard behield met 8 manchezeges op rij (2010-2013) vervolgens won hij ook in Arco di Trento maar dit keer voor het wereldkampioenschap en een week later won Herlings zijn allereerste GP zege in Sevlievo in Bulgarije.

Waarschijnlijk gaat Herlings nog wat races in Amerika rijden na de GP Brazilië (19 mei) zou hij er twee mee kunnen doen. Dat kampioenschap begint over twee weken en de 250cc rijden dan in één kampioenschap dus geen East en West.

In 2009 (video) werd Herlings slechts 6de en 8ste door blessures en in 2011 sprong hij in leiddende positie zijn voorwiel kapot en werd toen slechts 14de in de eerste manche. Inmiddels is ook bekend geworden dat Herlings volgend jaar wederom bij KTM rijdt, of dat in de MX2 of MX1 zal zijn is nog afwachten.

Toch was het een zege met een smetje, want Herlings behaalde niet het maximale aantal punten. Hij won weliswaar onbedreigd de manche in de MX2, maar moest in de superfinale de Spaanse MX2-rijder Jose Butron voor zich dulden. Daarmee is zijn streven om dit jaar alle races van de MX2 te winnen mislukt.
Glenn Coldenhoff mocht in Brazilië van poleposition vertrekken in de manche van de MX2. De crosser uit Heesch benutte die buitenkans optimaal. Hij zag alleen Herlings voorbijkomen in de race en finishte als tweede

Herlings had een goede start (eerste na 2 bochten) en hij deed genoeg om Ferrandis op afstand te houden, dat kan hij dus ook! Want normaal wil hij 1 minuut voorsprong en in het zand zelfs 1 ronde voorsprong op de nummer 2. Hij heeft wel last van zijn enkel, schouder, pols zei Paul Malin en er was geen interview helaas.quote:

Herlings is de stabiele factor in MX2, de coureurs daarachter erg wisselvallig.
Jeffrey Herlings evenaarde Antonio Cairoli door zijn 24ste GP zege in de MX2 klasse, Herlings had hier 51 GP's voor nodig terwijl Cairoli er 69 GP's over deed. Het record kan dit jaar nog worden verhoogd naar een totaal van 33 (als Herlings alle resterende GP's zou winnen) en eventueel nog hoger als Herlings in de MX2 blijft volgend jaar.
Herlings (18) is ook de jongste ooit die zoveel GP's op zijn naam schreef en hij kan bij nog eens 4 GP zeges Dave Strijbos passeren, Strijbos won er 27 en dat is het Nederlandse record.
De MX2 zou dan ook een stuk interessanter worden zonder Herlings en de MX1 met Herlings.quote:

De motorcross/supermoto Grand Prix commissie heeft een aantal wijzigingen voor de MX1 en MX2 opgesteld, de MX3 wordt op wereldwijd niveau afgeschaft. De commissie, bestaand uit Wolfgang Srb, directeur van de wereldwijde motorsportbond CMS/FIM, Giuseppe Luongo, President ovan rechtenhouder Youthstream en Takanao Tsubouchi, namens de fabrikanten in de Motorcycle Sport Manufacturers' Association (MSMA), besloot in het bijzijn van FIM Executive Director Sports Ignacio Verneda dtot de volgende wijzigingen.
De MX1 zal in de toekomst omgedoopt gaan worden in MXGP. Deze klasse blijft openstaan voor "prototypes" van 175cc tot 250cc (tweetakt) en 290cc tot 450cc (viertakt). De wedstijd zal bestaan uit 2 races van 30 minuten + 2 ronden, zonder superfinale. De 108% regel blijft afgeschaft, maar er mogen maar 30 rijders per wedstrijd meedoen.
De leeftijdsgrens voor de MX2 blijft 23 jaar, waarbij de regerend kampioen zo vaak zijn titel mag verdedigen als gewenst, in plaats van de huidige ene keer. Deze regel lijkt speciaal gemaakt voor Jeffrey Herlings, die aangaf dat een gedwongen vertrek uit de MX2 hem voor problemen stelde, waarbij een overstap naar de Lites in de USA de enige optie voor hem zou zijn. Hiermee stapt de commissie wel over de eerder gestelde redenering dat de MX2 als opleidingsklasse moet gelden voor de MX1/MXGP, waarbij de kampioen dus zo snel mogelijk moest doorstromen. Daarbij was echter geen rekening gehouden met het feit dat Herlings al op zo'n jonge leeftijd wereldkampioen zou worden, waarbij de MX1/MXGP nog te zwaar voor zo'n jonge rijder wordt geacht.
De MX3 wordt in zijn geheel afgeschaft.

Roelants kon na zijn crash niet verder.
Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsports has announced that KTM Racing has signed its MX2 factory rider Jeffrey Herlings for another two years. Herlings is considered one of the brightest young talents in the sport and has been a successful part of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team since he was old enough to qualify for the senior international racing competition.
The Dutch rider has delivered astonishing performances on the track since he joined the MX2 class but Jeffrey was already on the KTM radar screen from a very early age when Red Bull KTM Factory team boss Stefan Everts recognized his potential. Jeffrey is widely considered as the world’s best sand rider but in 2013 the current MX2 World Champion has proved to be virtually invincible on all terrain. He has won every Grand Prix so far this season, losing only a single moto to have an impressive current 17-1 scorecard.
Pit Beirer: “Jeffrey is the youngest rider in his class. He is still only 18 and we’ve never experienced such a great talent in someone so young. Such a talent needs special nurturing and we’re confident that in the hands of Stefan Everts and with the support of the entire KTM team, we can guide him carefully through these early years of his already remarkable career. This is also the reason that Stefan strongly recommends that Jeffrey should compete for another season in the MX2 class. He may still be very young but he has already shown everyone involved in our sport that his talent is indisputable. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to extend our agreement with him as he continues to develop and mature as a rider under the guidance of our factory team.”
Beirer said Herlings was an excellent example of KTM’s ongoing commitment to nurture the best and brightest riders from an early age in order to showcase the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team as the apex of the company’s “Ready to Race” philosophy. Herlings will continue to ride for the team in both 2014 and 2015.

Op 28 september is de Motocross of Nations op het circuit Kegums in Letland.
Letland is toch een redelijk zanderig circuit? Bied wat perspectief voor de Nederlanders.
Wat goed is komt snel en waarom dan al niet eerder naar MX1? Zonder echte tegenstand zoals dit jaar daar leert hij toch weinig van? Maar goed ik kan verder niet beoordelen of MX1 fysiek zoveel zwaarder is.quote:

Een extra jaar MX2 is natuurlijk wel leuk voor de statistieken (alltime meeste manches/GP overwinningen).
Ik snap wel waarom Herlings nog een jaar in de MX2 blijft, als je het vergelijkt met anderen die pas op hun 23ste de overstap maken. Ook in vergelijking met Cairoli, die had voor zijn 19de pas 1 GP gewonnen (Namur, 2004). Eigenlijk is Desalle de uitzondering geweest want die begon op zijn 16de in de MX1 omdat het team waar hij voor ging rijden niet in de MX2 actief was.

Het weer is beter dan vorig jaar met zo'n 22 tot 26 graden en zon, vorig jaar werd het na de eerste manche een modderpoel waar Roelants de Grand Prix won in de MX2 voor Van Horebeek en Tixier. In de MX1 won Cairoli voor De Dycker en Kevin Strijbos (geen familie van Dave).

Heb ook gelezen dat hij in Lierop op een 125cc in de MX2 gaat rijden.quote:
Als ik me niet vergis had hij plannen om misschien in Lierop aan MX1 klasse deel te nemen maar nu hij tot nu toe alle GP's gewonnen heeft lijkt me niet dat hij daarvoor kiest.
De komende 2 GP's heeft Herlings nog nooit gewonnen dat zal hij ook nog wel even willen doen.

Motocrosser Jeffrey Herlings is bij de kwalificatietraining voor de grote prijs van België zwaar ten val gekomen. Naar verluidt heeft de wereldkampioen in de Moto2-klasse zijn linkerschouder uit de kom.
Het is onwaarschijnlijk dat Herlings zondag in Bastenaken aan de start verschijnt. De Brabander won dit seizoen alle veertien voorgaande wedstrijden.

De kijkoperatie moet de ernst van de kwetsuur uitwijzen. Herlings, die begin deze maand in Tsjechië zijn wereldtitel prolongeerde, heeft nog veel pijn en kan zijn linkerarm moeilijk omhoog krijgen. Na de kijkoperatie moet duidelijk zijn hoelang de motorcrosser exact uit de roulatie is.

Dit seizoen moeten er nog twee Grand Prix's, waaronder die op zondag 8 september in Lierop, en de Motocross of Nations in Duitsland verreden worden.

Coldenhoff eindigde op het circuit van Matterley Bassin als derde in de eerste manche en werd vierde in de tweede. De 38 punten die hij daarmee vergaarde waren precies genoeg om de Brit Jake Nicholls en de Spanjaard Jose Butron voor te blijven in de daguitslag. Het was Coldenhoffs eerste GP-zege.
De Italiaan Antonio Cairoli stelde als verwacht de wereldtitel in de MX1 veilig. Hij had aan de winst in de eerste heat genoeg om één grand prix voor het einde van het seizoen zijn vijfde achtereenvolgende wereldtitel in de koningsklasse te veroveren.
Butrón was met een 5de en 2de plaats de virtuele GP winnaar maar werd ingehaald door Febvre waardoor Nicholls met een 2de en 6de plaats de GP virtueel gewonnen had. Coldenhoff moest Tixier voorbij om met een 3de en 4de plaats een GP overwinning te behalen. Hij ging Tixier in de 17de ronde voorbij maar Tixier moest wel voor Nicholls blijven en Butrón mocht Febvre niet inhalen...

Seems that the young dutchman has recovered well from the shoulder injury and has given some thought to racing in Lierop and the MXoN. If this is the case its great news for the Motocross public. Both countryman Glenn Coldenhoff and Red Bull KTM team-mate Antonio Cairoli mentioned also that Herlings looks like he might race afterall.

De film Living for the Weekend trekt steeds meer partners aan. Naast Pro-X, Twin Air en HGS Exhaust Systems is ook de Koninklijke Nederlandse Motorrijders Vereniging dermate enthousiast geraakt over het initiatief dat het tot een samenwerking is gekomen.
Nick Janssen en Jean-Paul Maas zijn bijzonder verheugd dat er zo positief wordt gereageerd op hun filmidee. Jean-Paul licht toe: “De film is bedoeld voor jong en oud en ook aantrekkelijk voor publiek dat normaal niet naar de motorcross gaat. Living for the Weekend is een prachtige kans om mensen te enthousiasmeren over motorcross. Het 105 minuten durende verhaal geeft ook de mensen die nog niet begaan zijn met de sport een indruk van wat de sport vandaag de dag inhoudt. Natuurlijk speelt ook de KNMV een rol.
De film gaat over emotie en passie voor de sport en de lange weg naar de top. Iets wat perfect past in de gedachtegang van de KNMV, maar ook waar de KNMV een bijdrage aan levert, zowel op het gebied van de breedte- als de topsport. Verder is de KNMV een ideale partner voor ons als filmproducenten en een ambassadeur richting potentiële bezoekers. Living for the Weekend volgt zeven coureurs in hun strijd om de wereldtitel in het WK MX2 en MX1. Van Nederlandse zijde worden Jeffrey Herlings en Glenn Coldenhoff zowel op de cross als thuis en tijdens hun trainingen vastgelegd. Beide heren zijn ook fan van het project én de eregasten tijdens de première in Den Bosch op 21 oktober. The Grand Prix of Benelux this weekend will be the final step for the current structure of the Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe motocross effort with the German crew set to undergo revised organisation for 2014 and a future that will see Dutch rider Glenn Coldenhoff ride the RM-Z250.
The renewed initiative for next season will see Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe retain its name and continue with exciting and excellent potential in FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship racing and the European EMX125 and EMX85 categories with RM-Z250 and RM125 and RM85 motorcycles. And the technical set-up will enjoy increased co-operation with GRP (Geboers Racing Promotions) to carry forth the 'factory backed' label outside of the MX1 class.
To tackle the future in MX2 at Grand Prix level the team are pleased to be able to count on the services of Dutch talent Coldenhoff, recent winner of the British Grand Prix and a rider who has burst to prominence with his first podiums and pole positions in 2013. He will be backed-up by Belgian Julien Lieber, who has recovered from a knee ligament injury, and will head into the off-season 100% fit to prepare effectively for the 18-round 2014 term.
Alongside in MX2 will be Swiss racer Jeremy Seewer; who will extend his long association with Suzuki. Seewer, who has made several impressive wild-card appearances in Grand Prix in 2012 and 2013, is still in contention for the European EMX250 title this season - the last outing coming this weekend at Lierop - and has won two of the seven rounds to-date. The EMX250 contest is the feeder class to Grand Prix and is run as part of the support programme at FIM World Championship events. It is on this beneficial European platform for development and evolution that Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe will again support the teenage forces of Brian Hsu (owner of a podium finish in EMX125 in just his first campaign on the larger bike this year) and Italian 85 champion Gianluca Facchetti on the RM85.
"To continue our project in the best way and to maintain Suzuki's presence at the top level in several important racing categories, this was a great move and I'm happy we could do it with the great support of Rockstar Energy, Bischof Logistik and Ortema," said Team Manager Thomas Ramsbacher. "We are pleased that Glenn has seen what we want to achieve with our MX2 programme and that we can field racers like Julien, Jeremy, Brian and Gianluca as they go on with their career development with decent results so far. Overall we can look very optimistically to the future."

The sand of Lierop will be a capable stage for current rider Max Anstie to sign-off his tenure with the team and bag some overdue silverware this weekend. The Brit celebrated a podium appearance at the same circuit in 2012 and his technical ability is a formidable asset on the shifting and incredibly bumpy terrain. Seewer faces a crucial decider in the EMX250 competition and needs to score 13 points more than Valentin Guillod to deny his countryman the title. Jorge Zaragoza will also close his season on the RM-Z250 and Hsu will hope to confirm a final top-10 position in the EMX125 standings and needs just two points to make it into the lead group.

Coldenhoff erg netjes in manche 2. Verschil met de King of Sand is klein.
Jammer dat Coldenhoff in de eerste manche met technische problemen uitgevallen is.
De stap naar het fabrieksteam van Suzuki is mooi voor Coldenhoff, maar is het sportief gezien ook een stap omhoog? Op Roczen na was het niet best voor Suzuki in MX2 klasse in de afgelopen jaren. Coldenhoff zegt zelf al dat de KTM beter is. Hij wordt wel duidelijk de #1 coureur want ik schat hem een stuk hoger in dan Leiber.
Suzuki doet het prima in de MX1 met Strijbos en Desalle en ook in Amerika met Millsaps, Wharton en Jason Anderson dus waarom ook niet in de MX2? Lieber is vaak geblesseerd geweest maar Anstie is 10de geworden in het WK.
Ik denk dat Herlings de MoN wel zal rijden maar hij geeft zelf aan dat hij niet fit is, hij kan nog wat ritme opdoen in Lichtenvoorde over 2 weken.
Maar wie gaat het MX2 team nou runnen? Ik dacht eerst gewoon dat Duitse team dat het nu ook doet, maar net heb ik ergens gelezen dat het Belgische Standing Construct het team gaat runnen, en waarbij ze dus na één jaar KTM weer terugkeren bij Suzuki.quote:

The little brother of Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing will be Red Bull Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, which is made up with two of the most promising young motocross talents in the world, Romain Febvre (France) and Aleksandr Tonkov (Russia). Both Febvre and Tonkov will be competing in MX2 under the watchful eye of ex Husqvarna factory rider and former 500cc motocross World Champion Jacky Martens.

Het Bike It Yamaha Cosworth Team heeft vandaag een officiele verklaring gegeven over de ontbinding van het contract van Dean Ferris. Vorige week konden jullie al lezen dat Ferris naar Amerika zal vertrekken en voor Red Bull KTM USA uit zal komen in de MX2 klasse.
Dean Ferris and the British Bike it Yamaha Cosworth team will not enter the 2014 FIM Motocross World Championship together after deciding to dissolve their agreement this week. Steve Dixon, owner and manager of the English based squad that has been present in Grand Prix racing for over two decades, was moved to comment.
“Having been in Grand Prix for 24 years I have worked with a lot of riders and we have had a lot of success year-in year-out and to help people like Carl Nunn, Billy Mackenzie, Andrew McFarlane, Zach Osborne, Mel Pocock, Arnaud Tonus and Dean Ferris achieve notable Grand Prix results as well as develop the YZ250F to a high level.”
“Dean, who is now 23 years old, realised after his great starts and results at the Motocross of Nations that his 250 class career was really only just starting. Since the Nations Dean and I have talked over his future and through experience I have learnt it is never good to retain a rider whose heart is elsewhere, it would only affect team spirit and potentially all the sponsors and partners. I took a few weeks to think about it and I feel happy I have made the right decision to let Dean financially compensate the contract and follow his dream to supercross and the USA. It may be the only shot he gets so I did not want to stand in the way.”
“We are a strong and well established team that does not rely on one rider to get us through the season, we have a great record of picking riders and releasing their potential. Right now we have exciting times ahead with the development of the fantastic new 2014 YZ250F and getting Max Anstie to be a regular podium finisher. We also have a promising MX2 programme with two younger riders. The 2014 YZ450F Yamaha has been working really well through our testing so I am still tempted to enter the MXGP class!”
“It was hard at first for Dean to approach me as he did not want to let us or Yamaha down, he was grateful for such a good opportunity in 2013 to show what he was finally capable of. Lastly it is good that all of this has been carried out amicably and professionally and that both us and Dean both go into 2014 happy with our decision.”
