Lackluster Return
A lot of wrestling fans were excited when word spread that JBL was leaving the commentating booth and returning to the ring.
Being a former world champion, JBL become another main event wrestler, which the company was lacking at the time of his return.
Thanks to his superb work as the color commentator for Smackdown, JBL even picked up some new fans during his time away from the ring.
With a little it of hype behind him, many were expecting some good things from JBL's return.
Unfortunately, though, he's been saddled with lackluster feud after lackluster feud.
His momentum has completely dwindled away.
Texas Tussle
The feud between Shawn Michaels and JBL was started at Cyber Sunday.
Shawn Michaels, who was one of the possible choices to be the special guest referee for the World Heavyweight Championship match, came down to the ring when Steve Austin was knocked out.
JBL was out there as well, providing interference for Chris Jericho.
The two crossed paths, and a new feud was born.
With both guys being great mic workers, this is a feud that has potential to be great.
Plus, JBL has shown that he can be carried to a great match if he's in the ring with a great worker (i.e. Eddie Guerrero).
Aftermath
A lot of things would have to go wrong for the feud between JBL and Shawn Michaels to not be entertaining.
That means that JBL should be coming out of this program with a lot more momentum than he has now.
With a babyface holding the World Heavyweight Championship again, there's going to be a need for heel challengers.
JBL has the credibility to challenge Batista for the title. However, it might not be a wise move to have them work together.
The two big men simply do not have any chemistry with one another. A feud between them (even though it involves the title) could end up killing JBL's momentum once again.
Another unfortunate thing is that there's not a lot of babyfaces left on Raw for JBL to feud with.
It might be time to switch him back to Smackdown after his program with Shawn Michaels ends.
