Je moet de nieuwe T&C's eens lezen het is niet meer 1 part voor 1 cd, je krijgt hoe dan ook maar 1 cd thuisgestuurd.. met meerdere parts krijg je andere voordelen (meer inkomsten, leuke extra's etc. etc.)
Voor het geld hoef je het niet te doen, heb nog bij geen enkele artiest ook maar enigszins kiet gespeeld vandaar ook dat ik eigenlijk nooit meer dan 20 dollar investeer (paar uitzonderingen daargelaten).

O daar heb ik geen idee van ken er echt he-le-maal niks van, maar gezien de media-aandacht die het krijgt lijkt het me toch redelijk groot nieuws.

Less than a week after their spectacular arrival, Public Enemy have amassed the highest budget of all artists who are currently fund raising on SellaBand. As a result of the massive wave of publicitiy, the band's initiative to raise money on SellaBand has brought them more than 500 friends, both old and new, who collectively have brought them over $30,000 in budget already. On their blog, the band tell the SellaBand community, that they are "pleased with our start, but know that we've got a lof of work to do." The total of over 1,200 Parts sold in the first five days of fund raising, result in a new record on SellaBand. Public Enemy are now over 12% in budget and will announce their plans for a second wave of publicity, shortly. SellaBand News will keep you all posted on further developments.

Ellie Williams was the fastest artist to raise the full budget of $50.000 on SellaBand. It took the talented singer only 50 days.
Unseen has been recorded in various studios in England including the Strongroom in London and was produced by top producer Tony Platt (AC/DC, Bob Marley).

Electric Eel Shock have released their album "Sugoi Indeed" on SellaBand today, October 12th 2009.
The album is full of classic rock and hand crafted in Japan… (“Sugoi” means “AMAZING” in Japanese). Attie Bauw (Judas Priest, Scorpions) who produced the last two EES albums, was at the controls again only this time he Engineered the basic tracks and Electric Eel Shock took the produce reins on the album themselves.
"SUGOI INDEED is the album we are 100% proud of…” Says Aki (guitarist and vocals) who took the production reins on the album… “Attie taught us so much about using a studio and with the help of our fans we had the budget and time to record an amazing album…”

Canadian band The Last Supper is offering you the chance to become a producer of the first ever fan funded TV series. The series, named Band Without Borders, is a unique project that combines documentary style television with independent music. This new TV series is about the band’s attempt to set a world record by being the first music group to perform in one-hundred countries. The show features life on the road, the highs and lows of living as a struggling musician, and highlights of the music scene in one-hundred different countries.
Since the camera's started rolling the Band Without Borders crew has toured 16 countries filming over 240 hrs of high definition footage. Highlights included; opening for Ministry in Paris, playing with Queensryche outside Amsterdam, performing at Download festival in the U.K and Best Festival in Romania, partying in Germany and Budapest, and sharing the stage with Uriah Heep in the Czech Republic. They also spent a month travelling around Africa which was amazing. A string of dates across South Africa and they were the first ever Canadian rock band to perform in Mozambique and Swaziland. The journey so far has produced unbelievable highs and lows, and they have come across some fascinating people along the way.
The band already independently raised the majority of the funds needed for the show but need $250,000 more to finish the filming of the first season (13 episodes), edit it and make it ready for broadcast. For this the band calls in the assistance of fans and other music lovers from all over the world. Everyone who invests at least $10 will receive not only an exclusive copy of the new album of The Last Supper, but also a certificate listing them as a Producer of the series. Writing SellaBand history: Public Enemy raise over $50K in less than two weeks
Today, Tuesday October 20, 2009, legendary HipHop act Public Enemy passed the $50,000 mark on SellaBand. It took the band exactly two weeks of fund raising to reach the 'traditional SellaBand threshold', beating the old record from zero to $50K with more than 35 days! At the same time, Public Enemy became the first act ever on SellaBand, to go beyond $50,000 thus writing a bit of SellaBand history.

Hind heeft een nieuw record volgens mij, 40.000 euro in 12 dagen:

Ze is erg kritisch op haar eigen muziek en zal er alles aan doen om een kwalitatief album te produceren. Dus nog even geduld allen het moet vooral GOED zijn. We houden julle natuurlijk periodiek op de hoogte van alle ontwikkelingen. Voor nu slaap wel allen en tot mails om het zo maar te zeggen....

Bedrijf stond toch duidelijk gewoon in Nederland in het Handelsregister ingeschreven, er staat ook gewoon een KvK nummer bij. En de curator spreekt geen faillissement uit, dat doet de rechter en die stelt de curator aan.

Ik vraag me trouwens af hoe zo'n site failliet kan gaan. De artiesten nemen hun albums op met geld van de 'believers'. Wat kost het het bedrijf zelf dan nog? Misschien kantoorruimte en webspace of zo, kan me niet voorstellen dat ze daar failliet aan gaan.
Ik vraag me ook af wat er met al die duizenden dollars gebeurt die de 'believers' hadden gestort en toegekend aan artiesten die nog niet aan het bedrag zaten. Ik heb er zelf 40 dollar naar toe gesluisd maar nooit een artiest gesteund die het gehaald heeft

Volgens de bewindsman is het faillissement echter nog niet definitief. "Er wordt hard gewerkt aan een doorstart", aldus curator Paul Schaink.
De curator wil verder geen mededelingen doen over de aard van de problemen bij de site waar muziekartiesten hun platen kunnen financieren door aandelen aan fans te verkopen. Sellaband zelf is niet bereikbaar voor commentaar.
Sinds de oprichting in 2006 verzorgde Sellaband de platenopnames voor 34 artiesten die ieder minimaal 50.000 dollar bij elkaar wisten te halen. Fans die geïnvesteerd hebben in bands die die drempel nog niet hebben gehaald, krijgen na het faillissement hun geld terug omdat hun kapitaal op een aparte bankrekening wordt bewaard.
Vorige maand won de site nog de Interactive Awards 2010 op het festival Eurosonic/Noorderslag. Het bedrijf had volgens de jury veel potentieel voor de toekomst.
Public Enemy
Eind vorig jaar trok Sellaband de aandacht van Chuck D. van hiphopformatie Public Enemy. De hiphopgroep financierde via de site een nieuw album.
De belangrijkste geldverstrekker van Sellaband is het investeringsfonds Prime Technology Ventures, ook bekend als investeerder van bekende Nederlandse startups als Ebuddy en Layar. De investeerder, die minimaal 3,5 miljoen euro in de muziekdienst stopte, wil geen toelichting geven op he
t faillissement.
Sellaband probeerde onder de slogan 'de macht aan de fans' de dominante positie van de platenindustrie te doorbreken. Sociale netwerken namen de plek in van meer traditionele marketing.
Oprichter
Oprichter Pim Betist, momenteel alleen nog aandeelhouder, zegt de ondergang wel te hebben zien aankomen. Volgens hem zou 'een aantal bedrijven' interesse hebben om het merk over te nemen.
De oprichter verliet Sellaband eind 2008 na een meningsverschil met het management en Prime Technology Ventures. "Ik adviseerde om geen kostbare cd's meer te drukken en om kwaliteitscontrole te gaan invoeren. Daar werd helaas niet naar geluisterd."
Betist begon na Sellaband een nieuw avontuur met een vergelijkbaar concept, maar dan voor Afrikaanse muziek. Het bedrijf Africa Unsigned werkt alleen met digitale muziek en strikte een aantal bekende Afrikaanse artiesten die bepalen of een band goed genoeg is om in te investeren.
